    Hell's Belle

This is all spice and musky goodness on me, with just a hint of floral. It's a little bit what I had hoped Scherezade would be on me when I smelled it in the imp. Unfortunately, I'm either sneezing my head off because it's been exceptionally windy today, or I'm seriously allergic to something in this one... I'm hoping it's because of the wind. I'll have to wear it another day for more conclusive results, because it is GORGEOUS on me. EDIT: I wore it again today, and it must've been the wind making me sneeze- whew!

    Hollywood Babylon

I got this as a frimp from the lab, and I've wanted to try it for a while now, so that works out well. I love this one. Hollywood Babylon, don't ever change. Please? Okay, you can do that cool morph thing on my skin where it goes from smoky musky loveliness to creamy strawberry sweet dreams with the smoke still present... but please don't turn plasticky like it sorta smells right now... I can't tell what it's going to do, but it seems a little fake after only a few minutes on me, and that distresses me. I love that the scent is easing up, like maybe I might be able to wear this in the daytime, with enough regularity to warrant a bottle. Hm. I'm undecided now, but I so desperately want to love this one.

    Lick It

Love, love, LOVE this! It really is amazing. Peppermint ice cream seems to be accurate, moreso than vanilla mint, to me. I really do want to taste it now- I love how fresh and beautiful it smells on me! I must find bottles of this one. EDIT: I'm not sure on the bottles, now. I wore it for a while this morning, and noticed that my skin swallowed the peppermint almost entirely and left me smelling like I'd rolled around in pure vanilla- which is lovely in its own right, it's just not the minty freshness I smelled last night. I'm still up in the air on this one.

    Hamadryad

In the imp: Fresh, light, green and a soft woodsy scent. Gorgeous. Crossing my fingers... my chemistry does odd things with cinnamon, it seems, and I've read a lot about that scent in this blend. On me: My skin sucks this up like there's no tomorrow. It usually takes very little to satisfy me, but I added a lot more than I usually do... and it was worth it! The cinnamon made an appearance, but was tempered by the freshness. It's sort of a minty smell, but I'm not getting wintergreen so much. The woods then surface and now it's heavenly... like what being a hamadryad would smell like, I think. Mmm. I can't stop sniffing my wrist! Later: It fades out, and the cinnamon is almost undetectable now. It's very soft after about an hour; maybe a little longer. Still lovely. Must have!

    Midnight

An ethereal bouquet of night-blooming flowers. Evening primrose, ruellia, flowering nicotiana, wild petunia, panani-o-kai, night phlox, night gladiolus, moonflower and the elusive scent of Nottingham Catchfly. Summer! This is bottled summer evenings, to me. Late summer, when it's not so sweltering, and everything is sort of relaxed and there's a warm wind drawing this scent through the house, and the windows are all wide open... I spilled this on my hands when I was opening the imp, and I didn't even smell it in the imp. Just plugged it back up and rubbed the spill onto my wrists and neck. It was very strong, and there's something in there that's a little overwhelming, but I think I may need a bottle of this... this is a potential wedding scent, and I didn't even realize it until just now! It's gorgeous, but I don't know that I'd wear it everyday. At least it didn't go soapy on me, as many florals can do.

    Inferno

The imp smells like almonds, to me. Spicy almonds, but still almonds. Yup, almonds. It didn't burn my skin, it was just nicely warm, but the cinnamon and neroli never revealed themselves enough to balance out the freaking almonds. And on my skin, this blend turned the almonds into something unpleasant. Thankfully, no allergic reaction, as I'm allergic to eating the real thing. So... definitely not for me. But could be pretty with different chemistry.

    Numb

In the bottle: It smells refreshing. Just... clean. On me: Clean. But... sorta like I've just been tumble dried on low... I get the smell of dryer sheets from this one, as a few others remarked. I haven't made up my mind about it, but I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I'm going to have to wear it again, at least once.

    Seraphim

I had high hopes for this one. In the imp, it smelled very green and fresh to me, like freshly cut flowers, and maybe even a little bit aquatic. Just lovely, I couldn't wait to try it. Wearing it, though, is another story... that watery note vanishes and suddenly I feel like I'm allergic to something in it. It's heavy and floral and not at all what I imagined it might be... I'm disappointed at my chemistry.

    Zombi

Love the name, and the description, and the concept of the category. I so desperately wanted to love the scent; alas, it was not to be. When something with a "dirt" note touches my skin, I need a shower and I smell like I've been dusting a very dirty house. Now, in the case of Zombi, that house may have flowers in it, but the flowers simply don't make the dust worthwhile. I really would like to find a sort of "dirty" scent that works on me, though. I really wish this had been the one. (Just imagine... "Your perfume smells great! What's it called?" "Zombi." "No, really. What's it called?" "Zombi." "...oh." le sigh)

    Black Forest

It should come as no shock to anyone, least of all me, that this one smells a bit like pine. But, damn, that is some kickass pine. In the imp, it reminds me of being outdoors on a cold night in a remote area in northern Idaho I used to visit (because I have family there), actually. While I'm not too fond of pine, generally speaking, I am keen on scent-memories. Once this got on my skin? Ugh. Cheap pine tree air freshener for the car. Magnified. Magnified again. This one's off to find a loving home!

    Dragon's Milk

This one goes on strong! The SO actually commented that it was a little strong, which puts it about right He's not fond of fragrances unless he can only smell them right up close on me. And he doesn't like anything remotely perfume-y, which is just about everything (in his opinion, anyway). Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I really want a bottle of this, a whole lot. It smells lucious on me. Sweet and dreamy and both mildly floral and deliciously foody. I adore it. Must have.

    Penny Dreadful

In the bottle: This smells like dirt, to me. Rich, earthy dirt in a dark wood. I don't like it, and I don't think dirt smells pretty, but I've promised myself I'll try everything I get, because it usually surprises me once I get it out of the imp. Penny Dreadful is no exception. Wet: Pretty much the same as in the imp. I almost washed it off, but decided to wait. Given a chance to dry down just a bit: I can't stop sniffing my arm. I'm not sure I love all of it, but it sure is complex. The wood scent is coming out strong- sandalwood? The dirt has mellowed into a more loamy scent that I can deal with, and now a spicier scent is emerging. Peppers and cinnamon, maybe? It's all very delicious and rich, and I really do like it... Just... not on me. It ultimately seemed too masculine on me. The SO agreed with this estimation. I do really like it, though. I'm plotting to find some way he'll wear it. (He's not much for scents.)

    Aizen-Myoo

I don't know how to begin to review this scent. Huh. I was really looking forward to trying this one, as I liked the description and reviews and whatnot. Like a couple of people, I appreciated the early review listing details of particularly unfamiliar notes, such as the yuzu. So... Hm. Here are some words this fragrance evokes for me: Dreamy, fresh, complex, light, blossoming, innocence, sensuality, exotic. The fruits were creamy, the tea was a lovely backdrop; to be honest, it smelled almost aquatic to me, it was so clean. This makes me feel sweet and girly, but also powerful and seductive... if that makes any sense at all. (It also helps that the SO remarked that he liked it.) Verdict: Love! Muchly! UPDATE: I wore this a few days ago, because I remembered how much I loved it but not why. I don't like how it smells in the imp, so it tends to get put on a back burner when I'm reaching for things. I put it on, and the sharpness melted into that creamy goodness... but then something went horribly wrong. As the day went by, I kept noticing a really bitter, medicinal smell. I came home, showered, and put on the tee-shirt I'd worn earlier around the house, and I swear, Aizen-Myoo tried to kill me! With a baseball bat! Honest! Seriously, though. I thought maybe I was just feeling off, but without me saying anything, the SO wrinkled his nose and remarked that whatever I'd chosen to wear that day was not his favorite thing- he'd been about to compliment me on it, he said, but when he breathed in to say something (we were snuggling so I was right close), that second wave hit him with murderous intent. He didn't phrase it quite like that, though. He said it was the fragrance equivalent of a bad aftertaste, which I've gotta agree with. So... sadly, this is off my bottles wishlist... but at least I figured that out before I bought the bottle. Off to someone with skin chemistry better suited to Aizen-myoo's charms.

    Jailbait

I almost couldn't bring myself to try Jailbait, after sniffing it in the imp. Just, no. Ugh. Bubble gum? Just like everybody else said, it's the exact scent of bazooka gum. I like gum, but I'm not sure radiating that scent is really the right impression to give... anyway, on to the test. Yowza! Red blotches on my neck- that's startling. They don't itch or burn really, though... wierd. And then I sniff my wrist. Woah. This scent came out of that bubble gum vial? Seriously? It's... okay, bear with me... it's warm and spicy and there's a hint of minty coolness with a touch of light floral and... wow. Just, wow. I didn't think I'd like Jailbait, but thought it'd be a neat experiment. I really like it, though. A lot. The morph on my skin is just amazing. Kudos to the lab; this is somehow stunning and fresh and sweet; vaguely innocent with a hint of sensuality... my skin loves this blend. I only wish it lasted a bit longer, and I'll have to be careful with where I apply it... Wow, I'm still pretty shocked at how much I enjoy this one. Update: 5ml on order with the lab! Woohoo!

    Eos

I have a friend online who uses the nickname "Eos", and she is a wonderful, gentle, sweet and generally lovely lady. This scent smells exactly the way she is. It really is the essence of Eos. One of the few floral scents I can recognize is lilac, and that's what I smelled when I opened Eos... so I was surprised to see that it wasn't listed as a note. All I can think is that it must smell remarkably like honeysuckle. At any rate, this is a gorgeous, soft floral on me. It wasn't perfumey or soapy or powdery, it was just consistantly beautiful and dreamy. I'm highly pleased with this one. Eos has a subtle green note in the background that gives it an herbal feel and maybe that's what keeps it from being overly floral. It lasted all day on me, though it did fade slightly, which is to be expected with any wearable scent. High marks all across the board, in my opinion.

    Moxie

Moxie! How could I not be excited about trying this scent? Love-love-love! the name. I was a bit uncertain about how Moxie was going to smell on my skin, because it smelled vaguely bitter in the imp. When I put it on, it was really invigorating. Lots of orange zest smell; not so much pure orange (though I don't know if that's generally true for orangey scented things). Zest is always a little bitter-smelling to me, but something in this blend really toned it down and made it an amazingly pleasant scent. Maybe it was skin chemistry, but I'm thinking it's a note I just don't distinguish yet. It didn't have a great throw, which the SO appreciates, but I was a little disappointed about- I may have to apply it a bit more liberally. It also seemed to fade earlier than I would've liked, but again, the application may have something to do with that. Verdict: I like it! I also feel like it is true to the name.

    Scherezade

In the bottle: It smelled very warm. Spicey, not sweet. A hint of smoke; maybe incense, but not strong. Just on my skin: I was worried that I had applied it too strongly, and disappointed that the smoke seemed to amplify immediately. It seems I was wrong about the strength of my application- I'm paranoid about being one of those women drenched in perfume, but the SO told me it wasn't very strong at all, and he could only smell it up close. So either the throw is weak or I'm a perfume wuss. An hour later: I felt a little uneasy wearing this scent. It seemed a little too formal(?) or something. I was glad that the smoke seemed to subside, and the warmth I'd smelled from the bottle came out. On my skin, there was a sweetness to it that I didn't pick up in the imp. 3 hours later: Faded a bit, but my skin didn't just drink it right up, either. Verdict: I think I like it. Will try again another day.

    Eris

So, first of all, my disclaimer: I don't know anything about scents or notes, and I realized when I tried Eris today that I'm terrible at picking them apart, but I've promised myself I'll review every one I try, and therefore improve (hopefully!). I have nothing else to compare this with, either. I've never tried to review a perfume, and Eris is my first BPAL scent ever. In the bottle: I'm not getting that super-sugary wet fruit scent that so many people wrote about. It's smoky and spicey and warm. I'm a bit dubious about it as a perfume, but it might be nice as a room scent? I can't tell. Nah. I don't know why, but no. Seems fairly feminine, rather than gender neutral, which is odd. It's a little like lightly floral incense. UPDATE: I tried it again, and it's less smoky. MUCH less. Still not getting watery fruit, but I am smelling spicey fruits, or warm fruit blossoms. It's nice, I really like it. On me: Smoke and incense. Where's all the fruit? I'm a bit congested, and maybe I'm smelling it too up close or something, but all I'm getting is that incense smell right now. Still that elusive scent of flowers (no clue about individual flower scents, I'm not that discerning... yet... hopefully.) but I can't seem to really smell them. Hence "elusive". Fade: So-so. Seems a bit quick, but it might've been the light application. Verdict: Undecided. I like it, but I'd like to smell some of the melon scent. Edited because the disclaimer needed improvement. Re-edit: On the wand I can smell some of that sweet strawberry lip balmy stuff now, but it's still all incense on me. I may update later in the day if this morphs on me. More editing: See update above.
