    Dissipation

This is an extremely cold scent, and I mean that in a good way. It starts out lemony and crisp and herbal-y. I'm also getting the cucumber thing...a little odd, but I can't stop sniffing my arm. Very light and fresh. As it warms up, things get a bit sweeter. Other notes push up to the surface, but I'll be damned if I can name them. And here's the thing: this remains a basically very simple, fresh, green, uncomplicated scent from the beginning to the end. If you're looking for a blend that smells really natural and simple, Dissipation is great.

La Bella Donna Della Mia Mente

Beth's description of this blend is beautiful, and the actual oil doesn't disappoint. This is a very beautiful, clean green floral scent. It is strongly reminiscent of Chanel No. 19, which is an incredible green chypre. When I first applied this, it is strongly fruity. The peach and pomegranate were very sharp and pure, and almost too much for me. I'm a 'dark side' kind of person when it comes to perfume, so I was a bit worried at first. After a short time, the fruitiness fades back and the myrtle and rose come forward. The final drydown is soft, powdery and very feminine. I like this blend a lot, even though it isn't my typical thing. I really admire the way Beth used the myrtle note in this one.

    Hamadryad

Mmmm, freshly applied this is definitely cinnamon, nutmeg and (I think) a touch of clove blended with a woody floral base. The top notes are deliciously spicy, but it's a cool kind of spicy. Hamadryad fades into a soft, slightly aquatic floral, but the spices are faintly noticeable all the way through. This has nice lasting power too; I touched on just a little in the morning and still had a waft of fragrance late in the day. I think this will be a beautiful floral to wear in the cold months of winter.

    Jolly Roger

Sea spray with an undercurrent of leather, Bay Rum, and salty, dry woods. Not much I can add to these great reviews for Jolly Roger...this is just a wonderful, strong, sexy, masculine fragrance. I wish the men I know smelled like this.

    Ravenous

Wow. This is a very interesting scent, two strong distinct notes that sort of battle it out for attention in the first 15 minutes that this is on my skin. The orange is sharp, sweet and fruity, and gives the patchouli a metallic tang. I also get that orange creamsicle/baby aspirin thing while the scent tries to decide which way it's going to go. In the end, the patchouli ends up pushing thru and winning the battle, but the orange never really lets go. This is a very unusual, distinct scent. I'm looking forward to using this in my oil burner, but I'm not sure whether it will be a scent I'll wear.

    Aureus

Aureus reminds me a lot of Cathedral, which I adore...very tree-sappy, ecclesiastical, and church-like, with just a touch of something else on the drydown. As others have mentioned, there's something sort of herbal here that lends a touch of freshness to the overall scent. It's barely noticeable, but it's there, as well as the amber. I just love all of Beth's resiny blends, including this one.

    Bon Vivant

Bon Vivant has exactly the opposite reaction on my skin from what Red Hot Mama has described. Fresh out of the imp, this is indeed VERY strawberry...but not the harsh, artificial strawberry note we're all familiar with. This is fresh, sweet without being cloying, fruity and happy. I personally wouldn't describe it as the scent of a real strawberry...it's real, magnified. As it dries down, I get more and more of the champagne note, bubbly and just a little bit tart. The initial sweetness of the strawberries smooths out and blends beautifully into the champagne. The final effect of Bon Vivant on me is a pleasing hint of fruity frothiness. The champagne note really stands out on my skin in the drydown. I feel really happy wearing this.

    Djinn

Out of the imp and onto my skin, this is one wicked scent. The sharp, smoky, almost caustic smell of smoldering wood...for a few minutes I actually fear that someone will smell this on me and be disgusted. In a very short period of time (luckily), things start to mellow and turn from smoky to sweet...I smell beeswax now, and something almost floral/minty underneath. The drydown of Djinn is actually quite creamy and tame, an almost 180-degree evolution from the initial shock of the smell of burning. This blend is a fantastic example of Beth's talent for scents that change character in a very dramatic way.
  9. I find Black Lotus to be very sweet and candy-like.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

Perfume oils and essential oils are definitely not usually the same thing.

    shipping confirmation emails

I've usually received my stuff right around the 4-5 week mark from the date I ordered it. Hope that helps!

    shipping confirmation emails

I've never ever received a Click n Ship either, so thanks fairywingmaker, it does help clear up the mystery a bit!!!
  13. Thanks enozgirl!! I never get these mysterious Click things myself, but since so many people are getting them now, I was just wondering if that means the package should be expected tomorrow, 3 days, a week? Wish I got the famous Click n Ships!!!
  14. Hey guys, just curious.... After you get this Click n Ship thing, how many days is it usually until the actual package shows up in your mailbox?
  15. Thanks Jazzie. I really have nothing against CCNow, as long as they take my money and put it where it's supposed to go. They may not intend to be misleading, but the word "shipped", to me, means "shipped". If it means something else, maybe they need to change the word. But I get your meaning. Velvet
  16. Yep, that's exactly what Nella has told me about my 15 June order. So I'm looking for it sometime next week.

    What scents are masculine? Gender-neutral?

    Titus Andronicus is amaaaaaazing.
  18. If you like dirt, you'll love Burial....or Demeter Dirt layered with Tea Rose. If you like caramel apples, you'll love The Hesperides....or B&BW Winter Candy Apple lotion underneath Thierry Mugler Angel. If you like root beer, you'll love Tombstone....or BCBG Sexy and Lip Smackers Root Beer flavor. If you like tree sap, you'll love Cathedral....or Shiseido Feminite du Bois. If you love grapefruit, you'll love Cheshire Cat....or Guerlain Pamplelune. If you love blackberries, you'll love Old Glasgow....or L'Artisan Mure et Musc.
  19. FifthHouse, have you tried Maiden? It's so delicate and just sweet enough.
  20. Hang in there Hikaru, I'm sure you'll have it soon. Tygher, did yours come today???
  21. Hi Rosabella. I can really only speak from my own experience with CCNow, as I have used them exclusively since finding the Lab. I have never received an email from them, confirming my order or anything else, so that part isn't true. However, the funds have always left my account within 24 hours of my placing it, except on weekends of course. There didn't seem to be any delay or holdup and I've never really had any problem with them so far (knock wood). My big negative issue with CCNow is their misleading info when looking up the status of an order. When they say an order has "Shipped", it means that the Lab has received the order and it's in the queue for them to fill. It does not mean the shipment is on it's way. My orders have always arrived in almost exactly 30 days, which I think is about the average norm for everyone, regardless of which way you pay. My last order has been delayed because of the bottle issue at the Lab. I honestly think that the Lab is making a herculean effort to get everyone's order to them by 30 days of the date is is placed. I don't think ti matters much in that regard, which method of payment is being used. Velvet
  22. Hi Lux667! I just want to say that shadow and tygher have explained the CCNow process perfectly.....I use CCNow and unfortunately when you see the word "shipped" next to your order, it doesn't mean what it seems to mean. I'm still waiting on my 15 June order, so you should probably give a bit longer before getting too concerned. Hope you get your order real soon! Velvet
  23. LOL sure, I'm up for it.
  24. Ok carolsag, I'm not entirely sure what this is all about, but let me make myself perfectly clear with you right now. If you have some kind of ax to grind with me personally, I'd appreciate it if you would do so on the message link on my profile. You are obviously intent on hurling insults in my direction (I have no idea why), but I do not intend to throw any more fuel on your fire. What I DO intend to do is report every single one of your rude, inflammatory, childish, and nasty posts to the administrators of this board. So by all means, if you feel that you simply must carry on flaming me, feel free...and I'll continue to carry on reporting you.
  25. clephan, thank you very much for finding Beth's comment and posting it again. I don't think I need to know Beth personally or "work for the lab" to re-state a fact that she has already said herself, so again, thank you.
