  1. I definitely understand how stressful organizing swaps can be! I've done a few (small) ones and chasing people down to get them to ship is always stressful T_T That being said, I've definitely missed switchwitch the last couple of years. Mail is still stupid from Japan which makes me sad though T_T

  2. I'm sad I missed the 13 nights one but... it's probably for the best considering. Shipping is so complicated right now... I can't even ship airmail to the US or Australia from Japan at the moment, though the UK and Europe is fine.... I definitely want to do switch witch though and having a longer deadline would be excellent since it would give me a few more options!

  3. I unfortunately do not own a computer; does anyone know of a good list-y application that might be good for checklisting scents?

I have to many I love/don't like, and can never keep track...

To bad we can't just make a bpal app XD

An app would be hilarious! XD Especially one of those PC/Mobile integrated ones. I've let my personalized version of the spreadsheet get very very far behind with how busy I've been the last year. I recently got a new friend into BPAL, though, so now I have to update it to show her how to use it XD

  4. spring swap does sound nice. I wonder if anyone will be running a spring cleaning swap again this year?

Dude, I totally forgot about the spring cleaning swap! I just do not have the energy or time to run it this year, so if someone wants to run with it, please be my guest! I will happily participate.

Hmmm how early should it start? How many people have been involved in past years? I haven't got lots of time, but I might be able to do something - especially if someone will help & I don't have to start it up for a couple of weeks.

It looks like I always started it sometime in April, but there's nothing magical about the timing-whenever works for you, there's no set timeframe. The first year, we had 50 people, plus several who really wanted in late. Last year it was more like 30ish? I can't remember for sure, but it was not nearly as popular. Either way, it definitely lends itself to co-hosting. Here's the old threads for reference: http://www.bpal.org/topic/76980-spring-cleaning-swap/page__p__2139937__hl__%22spring+cleaning%22__fromsearch__1#entry2139937

I would be totally up for a spring cleaning swap! But I'm moving the end of March so before then would be more... appropriate for me XD

  5. Oh glob.

So last year I did the Winter Solstice Swap and I'm thinking of doing it again.

But I also love RPGs and was thinking of doing an RPG Character swap. Send in a Character Sheet type Questionnaire, get matched, and try to make a small 'Adventurer's Kit' for the character.

    Oh glob.

Would anyone want to do this? I would put a price cap on both.

RPG SWAP!? YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! 1000x YESSSSSSSSSS! *grabby hands*

Solstice swap also sounds good, I'm just an RPG fangirl

  6. Question three:

I'm probably going to sound like a nutjob, but can we talk about potential Halloween swaps? Anyone with me? I've been really thinking I'd like to make one, but it would need to start in September or so, so that everyone could have awesome Halloween goodness. It could also be expanded to include Dia de los Muertos, All Saints' Day, Guy Fawkes, and other awesome Holidays that fall in that end-of-October/beginning-of-November window.

I'm a bit far away for round-robin swaps, but I am ALWAYS happy to start talking about Halloween swaps!

  7. Hopefully this will work in Excel (I saved it using OpenOffice, but in xls format, so it should hopefully work.) Everything up through Anniversaries should be in here now, although I didn't add the exact dates for many of the Lunacies and such, because honestly, I really didn't feel like looking them all up. The more recent scents should all be in chronological order, but scents from before 2007 or so may not be. (Since I started using this spreadsheet a couple years ago, the new scents have just been added onto the end.) I'm gonna scrap the Google Doc for now because it just is too slow for a document of this size, it lags when I try to scroll through it.

    Thank you!

  8. Sunlitgarden, thanks for keeping the spreadsheet updated and good work! Quick question - I seem to be able to edit the spreadsheet. Should that be happening, or am I just editing my own version of it? As a test, I added "abc" to the note description of Yuletide 2005 in the last line of the spreadsheet (line #2976). Can you see that?

If anyone can edit the spreadsheet, that's a problem, right? I don't want to be able to accidentally mess things up!

Also, I'm confused by the sorting method; eg. there are LE Yules both at the very bottom and very top of the spreadsheet, and Hellfire is on line 5 among unreleased scents and Lunacies instead of with the rest of the GC Sin & Salvation category...could it be organised in a more intuitive way?

I designed it originally so that other people could update it also, because I tend to get busy and forget about some projects that I have (such as this, it's been a few months since I've updated it, as you can see.) Unfortunately, it looks like the sorting got messed up somehow and now it's all jumbled up. The original Hackess spreadsheet was in roughly chronological order, but not all the scents have dates, so it can't really be re-sorted that way.... I'm thinking of just editing my copy and uploading a whole new one since it doesn't look like there have been any significant edits since I last worked on it.

Please do! I've been trying to keep my spreadsheet up to date but I'm about sixish months behind.

  9. I'm looking for some recommendations of sort of spicy smells. I adore Scherezade and No.93 Engine, but I don't generally like foody spice smells like cinnamon or cumin, So I haven't been able to quite put my finger on what sort of spices I'm liking. Any idea what my next smell trials should be?

  10. I would definitely be interested in a round robin bottle/imp swap! International shipping is pretty equivalent for envelopes or boxes here (it's all "small parcel") so either one would work for me. I don't think a large padded envelope would be an issue, though. The bottles seem relatively sturdy in general, so with just a bit of extra bubble wrap they should be fine...

  11. I uploaded the updated spreadsheet here for now. It's in OpenOffice (.ods) format; I told it to save as an Excel document but the extension would not change. Let me know if it doesn't work in Excel and I can try to change it...

Doesn't seem to work in excel. I used an online converter though and it worked fine. Thanks~
