  1. A clean but old kind of smell, if that makes any sense. It isn't overly smoky or incensey on me but is very pure, almost elemental. It's a very familiar scent and although I've never actually smelled a shaft of light, this is what I imagine it would smell like. There is, as well, an Egyptian feel to this perfume.

In a personal, nostalgic way, it also brings me back to the days of my ballet lessons. I was in an early class and as the teacher would open the door to the studio, this rush of scent is eerily similar to that one. Maybe it was the smell of polished but worn hardwood floors- not chemically, in a Pledge kind of way... but in a pure, earthy (but not musty) manner.

  2. I don't have any of the right words to describe Old Morocco. It's my favourite so far and maybe that's why. I've been utterly seduced by it- and how do you explain why you're in love with something? And not just in love but obsessed? I really can't.

This is a beautiful scent- so complex and mysterious. It's so very soft and yet commanding at the same time. There are a thousand layers to this perfume- the scent of sun on skin, exotic spices, lust, poetry, music.

This is what love letters should smell of.

  3. <span style='color:DarkRed'>From Voodoo Blends:

I smell lilac! Full, lush and still retaining its "greenness" like it had never been plucked from its tree.

I would never have described it as a sensuous scent (lilac makes me think of my childhood), but there's something about the way in which it reacts with my skin that makes it quite sophisticated and decadent. A very "black dress, red lipstick" quality to it. Makes me feel all grown up!

I'm not a big fan of florals so this is a marvellous treat for me.

  4. A very delicate pine. It's more of a soft, powdery, ground-up pine needle scent than a sharp or overly-crisp one. You won't be smelling like a tree, but it definitely evokes the scent of a forest floor- a mixture of fallen pine needles, wet flowers and moss as they turn into the earth again.

  5. A very romantic violet. It's not overly sweet or cloying, but it definitely has depth to it. It's difficult to describe exactly how it smells but I keep being bombarded by very strong visuals: I see ruby-red velvet dresses and shiny black mary janes. A kind of wistful, melancholy scent- like a good Smiths' song that makes you sigh and smile at the same time.

  6. Conjures up old memories of waiting outside clubs in the rain. It's not the pure scent of leather but rather a blend of moistened, dewy skin-smell and a broken in leather jacket- the way I imagined how all the cute boys I was too shy to talk to would smell. Clean, crisp (but not sharp) with an undertone of a fleshed out, natural muskiness. Very, very sexy too.
