    Ahathoor

In bottle: Odd, spicy, clove or rootbeer, hard to describe. Wet and drying down: First whiff immediately makes me think of a man's cheek with black stubble on it. What can I say? This is dry, spicy and masculine. I smell a lot of clove. It feels like it's numbing my nose. It reminds me of voodoo. They both make me think of cola soda. Dry: It's faded a lot, but hasn't changed really. I'm going to try this on my boyfriend, but I don't think it will suit him since he has a light brown and partially reddish beard.

    The Lady of Shalott

In bottle: Watery, white flowers and aquatic notes. Gorgeous. I'm afraid of how this will smell on me however. Wet and drying down: Whoa, weird piercing smell. I have no idea what it is, I've never smelled anything like it. It smells like sharp florals mixed with wheat crackers. Ohh, my poor nose. Oh damn, this turned nasty real quick. I love the smell of muguet, and I think it might be working on me underneath all this discordant stink. I'm not saying this is a bad blend, I'm saying my skin chemistry is unforgiving when it comes to aquatic scents and white florals. This is probably really nice on the right person. Dry: Kind of a clean smell I guess but didn't work. I'll have to try some muguet blends if I can find any that aren't white florals. Should be interesting.

    Lurid

In bottle: Soft white musk with a tiny bit of lavender. Wet and drying down: It smells flat and soft. Very odd. I guess that's the ozone notes. Not so much a smell as an effect. I can barely smell anything. I keep thinking of antique electrical parts, with decayed bits of cloth, old brown imperfect glass and chipped and dirty brown porcelain. It's kind of a creepy smell and it makes me feel uneasy. Dry: I guess maybe there's some currant in there somewhere? Well this scent makes me feel oddly creeped out. It seems very serious. It's spicy, flat, musky and quite sexy. It's also masculine and not for me. I'll try it on my boyfriend at some point when I'm in a more stable mood. And now I need to wash this off. I just wanted to add, for future reference, that I think this is irritating my sinuses and making me feel like I need to sneeze.

    Mandrake

In bottle: mineral oil, faint herbs, something very faintly resembling perfume Wet and drying down: Same as in the bottle except a little patchouli maybe, there's hardly any smell to this. It smells like very faint patchouli mixed with mineral oil and something sweet. It stays close to my skin and soaks in, so it doesn't really feel like I'm wearing a perfume. More like I just smell nice. Dry: Faint sweet earthy patchouli and mineral oil. Maybe a little vetiver. It's very earthy but clean at the same time. I'm going to try this on my boyfriend because I'm curious about how it would smell on someone else's chemistry, and I think it would smell nice on him. At the very least, I think he'll really like it on me, so this imp is a keeper. I'm not sure about a bottle though.

    Rapture

In bottle: Mostly a jasmine smell I don't like, pretty fruity florals, some sharp white florals Wet and drying down: Sweet orangey neroli, sweet pretty light pink and white florals, maybe some rose, stinky jasmine, ehh.. Looking at the notes, I'm pretty sure this would be heavenly on me without the jasmine. I don't like the smell of the jasmine in the bottle and it seems to turn even worse once it hits my skin. Dry: The jasmine has turned kind of sour and reminds me of bad breath. I think the rest of the notes smell pretty and sweet but the jasmine drowns them out and kills it for me. Also, the musk comes out after while and it's really nice. So I guess Arabian musk works on me.

    The City in the Sea

In bottle: Sweet, delicate, Victorian soap. Wet and drying down: Almost tolerable aquatic blend. The aquatic ones always hate me. Soap, soft florals. I'm imagining light blues and violets. I smell like I just took a long bath with some really nice old fashioned soap that had a Victorian looking label on it. Dry: Now it smells like I put on some men's cologne. It's kind of soapy too. Not for me at all. I love aquatic notes on men though, so I'm trying it on my boyfriend. It might a little too feminine though.

    Alone

Almost pure cinnamon. I'm confused. My boyfriend said it smelled like spit. I guess it kind of smells like a new stick of cinnamon gum being chewed. So weird. Cinnamon isn't even in the ingrediants list. My nose is burning.

    The Haunted Palace

I tried this long ago, and I didn't like it at all. The orange was too strong and smelled bad on me. As a whole it just didn't work. I tried it again today, since I was going to swap it away and holy crap. In the bottle: Beautiful complex bubblegum? Gorgeous. Wet and Drying: Yummmm. It smells like ravenous, but more interesting and wearable for me. Bubblegummy, sweet, rich, creamy, spicy, god this is heavenly. Syrupy and sticky, and a little mysterious. Dry: Super sweet, spicy, beautiful wood. So strange, so yummy. This aged like a dream. Oh god, I only have an imp.

    The Hanging Gardens

In the bottle: Strong sharp floral, with juicy fruity bubblegum. Wet and drying down: Blehh, my skin is making this sharp and bad instantly. It's so strong and floral. It seems very colorful. Purple, gold, orange, maroon, and dark pink thrown together in a mish mash. Every once in a while I smell something kind of nicely clean and fruity but overall, this is almost unbearable and is irritating my sinuses. Dry: Dark purple fruit with sharp floral. This perfume hates me and I return the sentiment.

    Dublin

In the bottle:Piney, clean, and a little rose. Wet and drying down:Very piney at first, with some clean watery roses. Ooo, pretty. The pine is slightly spicy. I can't help but think of Christmas. It's becoming sweeter and rosier. I highly agree with the poster who said this would make a great shower gel. Something invigorating and clean to wake you up in the morning. Dry: I'm amazed at how pretty this is on me. It reminds me of the smell of fresh red roses, where they smell all deep and lush. Where they smell almost like an alcoholic drink. I want more of this though, since I promised my imp to a circular swap.

    Eden

In the bottle: seriously toasted coconut, almond, I can't smell much under the toastedness. Wet and drying down: I can't figure out what I'm smelling. It's like a fruity grassy flower, with toasted coconut. I can't stand the toasted coconut in this, but the rest smells really sweet and pretty. Dry: It smells kind of like a sweet fruity pencil on me. Even if it did work on me, it's not really my style.

    Amsterdam

In bottle: Very clean, flowery, watery. I can tell my skin is going to hate this. Wet and drying down: Whew. Sharp, sour aquatic notes. The tulip is beautiful, but I can't tell if it's working on me or not. The sour aquatic notes are overpowering everything. Eventually, it becomes sweeter, lighter and more floral. Dry: Clean, light, ethereal. I would like to smell it without the sour aquatic notes underneath. This is a little too light for me anyway. But I do want to try more things with tulip, peony and green grass. This reiterated that aquatic notes don't like my chemistry.

    Rome

In Bottle: Soft roses, something evergreen. Pretty. Wet and drying: More rose- soapy, fresh or rotted, it's going from one to the other. I think I smell the chammomile underneath but barely. It smells "aquatic". A little too sharp and soapy on me. It kind of reminds me of a blue sporty deodorant for men. I think part of it is my skin chemistry turning something kind of sharp. Dry: Sharp, soapy, aquatic with rose that smells kind of dry and slightly rotted at times. It's a little too sharp for me. I can see this smelling really clean and soft on someone whose skin chemistry is a little more agreeable.

    Bayou

Wet: It smells slightly soapy on me at first. For some reason I keep thinking of a cactus with flowers blooming on it when I smell my wrist, although I don't even know what a cactus would smell like. Drying down: The aquatic notes and moss smell nice together. I normally think aquatic notes smell harsh, like bathroom cleaner, but the moss really balances them out. The flowers are faint but they really add a prettiness to it. Conclusion: Swampy flowery moss. It's pretty. I need to get more blends with moss in them.

    Dance of Death

Sometimes this smells like pure baby powder and violets on me. Sometimes it smells like dark, deep and spicy baby powder and violets on me. I can't wear this one at all. I went through a brief period of liking this because it reminded me of those yummy Choward's violet candies. My boyfriend told me I smelled like his grandfather.

    Cairo

In bottle: Fruity, juicy, exotic, intoxicating. Wet and Drying: Buttery, fruity, incense, Rose? Blueberries? Dates? This is incredible. I have tears in my eyes. It smells like an Egyptian grocery store that sells incense and hookah tobacco. I love it. Dry: Pretty much the same as wet, except more mellow and a little warmer and sweeter. Soo good. I need more of this. The imp I have has an older label on it, so maybe aging it a bit helps. I keep catching whiffs of this and wondering what smells so fantastic. It makes me think of being out with friends on a summer evening, while the sun is setting and the weather is going from uncomfortably hot to perfect.

    Baghdad

In the bottle: Sweet and sharply spicy. It makes me think of fresh ginger. Wet and drying down: The sharpness is going away and I smell the sweetness of the rose and/or the bergamot. Slightly powdery but in such a pretty way. Dry: Spicy, sweet, pretty. It's heavenly. After about a half hour or so the rose starts to smell kind of old and dry but the whole scent has faded quite a bit at this point. I got this in a circular swap, so I had to order an imp for myself. I feel tempted to use more than is polite. Overall, I think it's yummy. ------- ETA: This and Alice are tied as my favorite BPAL. It's wonderful. Spicy, sweet, exotic, rich, but it also has a lightness to it. HEAVEN!! It smells like exotic sugar. The less I put on, the better it smells. I put on too much once, and it just smelled different and bad and I couldn't stand to smell it for several days. A tiny bit of this blend goes a long way, as opposed to Alice which I slather.

    Eve

I thought I smelled jasmine more than anything in this. Then I looked up what else was in it and there's no jasmine listed. I think it's the ylang ylang and apple blossom doing it. It smells a lot like what jasmine does on my skin. A sort of sharp bathroom cleaner smell which begins to rot like decaying flowers. Apple blossom hates me. This smells so piercingly sharp and bad on me. As it dries down, it smells like rotting flowers with sharp powdery jasmine, and a tiny bit of rose underneath. At least I don't have to be indecisive about putting this one into my swap pile.

    Vinland

First, a warning. The imp I'm trying has an older label on it, so I wonder if it hasn't aged well. In the bottle- Wintergreen bubblegum, something kind of sterile and medicinal like the smell of a hospital, grape, and florals. Wet on skin and drying down- Pretty much the same except more floral and grape, maybe some rose. The florals are kind of pretty, but like usual, my skin is turning them sharper and sharper in a bad way. After 10 minutes- Floral artificial grape with a sterile medicinal smell underneath. I think my skin chemistry did weird things with this. My boyfriend told me I smell like brie cheese, a hospital and grape candy. He thinks brie cheese smells like band aids. ..? Hmph. I'd be interested in trying a very fresh imp of this.
