After being disappointed by a few too-light scents with divine notes that didn't stay , I was pleased by the punch of F5. It isn't too sweet, it isn't too aquatic, it isn't too minty. It's the perfect fresh scent. It had a kind of fresh-linen quality without being soapy or perfumey, and it stayed all day. Very nice.

Ooh, I heard really lovely reviews of this one, so though it doesn't contain my usual favorite notes, I was excited to try it.

I came into work this morning wearing it, and my co-worker said, "who brought the donuts?"

She was serious! So on my, MLaST smells like donuts! Hilarious!

Anyway, to sweet for me, but hey, I may have made some hungry friends.

Boy, I don't know what to say. I was so excited to try Mum Moon, so VERY excited. I love ginger, I love opium, I love, dry, dusty, fall scents--I thought this would be everything I ever wanted.

I immediately ripped open the box and dabbed it on. Instant headache. Urine-y, creepy headshoppy, something wrong and doom-laden, bad memories. Oh, it made me physically nauseous. I don't know if this response is more emtional or psychological rather than olfactory, but oy, I can't wear it.

Someone who can is gonna be so lucky.

After reading urbanruralferal's post below, I think she's nailed it! It's the disturbing feeling it gives me that unsettles me. I have not had this visceral of a reactoin to a BPAL since Nosferatu!

How in the world can notes that sound so perfect turn into rotting gardenia on me? May be a scent befitting a fae, but not for me.

Um, no. All day long I kept thinking "what is that horrid smell of burning rubber?" Then behold, I realized it was me. Ick.

I think Hungry Ghost Moon is a dead ringer for A Demon in my View: Spirits of the Dead, but with far more throw.

Oh, this is really nice. When I first put it on, I wasn't so sure, as it made me think of generic men's cologne. But as the scent developed and grew, it became quite lovely. It makes me think of a much richer and complex Tombstone. In fact, I'm getting a very western feel from it. It makes me think of the Johnny Cash song, “When the Man Comes Around.” Not only because that song starts off with:

”And I heard as it were the noise of thunder

One of the four beasts saying come and see and I saw

And behold a white horse”

...which is so appropriate for this series, but also because it makes me think of the Johnny Cash cowboy-ish asthetic. The vanilla is nice, not too candy-sweet or flowery-fake, and the leather tempers it well. I need to try this again, but my first impression was very favorable.

Ooh lordy! I overdid it with this one. After a few days of trying imps that were fleeting/had no staying power, I applied this one pretty heavily this morning. My assumption that it would be light was way off!

No problem though, since this scent is quite pleasant. I was expecting the really heady, funereal lilies that are usually too overpoweringly floral to me, but I am pleasantly suprised that this is not the case. This is dripping, warmed honey, so golden and sticky and sweet that I'm craving tea like crazy. I can almost taste the lick of the spoon in the back of my throat. I generally don't go for foody scents, but I wouldn't quite call this foody. Just warm and delicious.

I'll have to see how it goes after a day of wear, but for right now: mmmmm...

Wow, I feel like I all my reviews are so negatively lately, but yeesh, my skin is insane!

When I first applied Frumious Bandersnatch, I definitely smelled the Yankee Candle smell some have mentioned here. Still, there was enough of a darker, dusky scent beneath (chrysthanemum?) that I thought it might work out. It went really sweet to a grape-y plum-y scent, and now, 3 hours later, it's just soap again.

Maybe everything turns to soap on me because of the musk? There is some type of musk in nearly everything I've tried...

Anyway, it' not you, Frumious, it's me. Perhaps as a room scent?

Ooh, I was so excited to try this scent, and I received it as a frimp in my most recent order! Psychic Beth strikes again! All of the notes in this are favorites: tea, bergamot, leather, mmm...

The Bergamot rose above all else on first sniff and application. I barely smelled the leather and the black tea was more of an inferred scent. Sadly, this dissipated so quickly and only left behind a slight, gentle, indiscernible but nice scent. If the leather and/or tea had been stronger, I think this would have been tethered more. Sigh. I’m going to keep it around to see if slathering will up the staying power, but I sort of doubt it. *sniff*

Very strange...Jabberwocky did nothing on my skin like in the previous reviews. In fact, I barely smelled the eucalyptus and pine. When I first applied it from the imps, it was sweet orange-y pine, and I thought, hmm, I could like this!

Then it mellowed out into a spicy kind of men's scent, like Old Spice Deodorant.

Now, it's just soapy. Strange. I will try it in an oil burner and see if it keeps up the fresh scent if it's not on my evil soap-turning skin.

Wow. Playing the Mad Tea Party game is so fun, and indeed, this smells like the Caterpillar. It is a bit too heady and incensey for me to wear often, but as for the art of scent I do have to say--right on. This is the Caterpillar.

Ah, bummer.

In the imp and on first application, this was lovely and light lime, mint, and very subtle light florals. I figured this one would go the way of many of the MTP scents, and be light and nice, but without ebough throw to be 5 ml material for me.

Ugh. But the florals overtook it and now I'm Soapy McFloralton. Boy, my skin just doesn't do powdery florals.

If only the mint and lime had stayed...

Oh well. Off to a home where he can be loved. Poor guy.

Ooh, this is really nice! I think someone earlier may have said that this is what cucumber flowers should smell like (though I may be confusing it with another review--perhaps of The Dormouse), and I can't get that comparison out of my mind.

It does remind me quite a bit of The Dormouse, which I love, but a little less sweet. I am worried that it might do the unfortunate laundry sheets things that White Rabbit did to me (oh! how I wanted to love White Rabbit!) but so far, so good.

However, since I love The Dormouse so much, I probably won't buy a 5 ml of this. But it is quite lovely. Not much throw, but a pleasant, light, summery scent.

Aw, bummer.

This was definately the Salon I was the most excited to try. In the vial, it was lovely, tart citrus and orange blossom. On drydown it was simultaneously sexy and fresh and the tea and woody smells came out. Then...

RED HOTS.

It just smelled like Red Hots or cinnamon Jolly Ranchers, and my love affair was over. Bummer.

But hey, at least it wore off almost immediately.

From the official site description and all of the reviews here, Orpheus was one of the Salons I was most looking forward to trying. I love green/woody/foresty smells, and this sounded right up my alley. Thanks to urbanruralferal, I was able to test this one out today.

In the vial and on first application, I smelled cedar, willow, and bezoin overwhelmingly. This made me hopeful that it would be a nice earthy sent. Unfortunately, on drydown it was rapidly eclipsed by the narcissus and stephanotis, and became unbearably flowery. It smelled like the perfume counters in department stores--a chaotic, artificial muddling of suffocatingly heavy florals.

After wearing it for a while it calmed down and became quite pleasant. But it just smelled so...generic. Like any old soap or shampoo or body wash that smells just nice, but nothing more exciting than that.

Oh well, disappointing, but I was happy to try it!
