  1. In my opinion, the base and middle notes are easier to match up. Regular perfume top notes are more prominent to me - they stand out more sharply as the scent evaporates. BPAL oils are heavier, more blended, without the same "blast" of higher notes. In other words, more similar to regular perfume that's had time to settle on your skin.

Truthfully, though, there are very few BPALs I've tried that smell like department store fragrances. Except for Venom! It smells almost like a dupe of Poison!

  2. Neo-Tokyo!!! It's delicate and sweet like the Lolita Lempicka Eau de Toilette. Neo-Tokyo's notes are cherry blossom, ozone and fruit. This is a very nice blend - I highly recommend it for anyone who likes Lolita Lempicka.

I've tried some others hoping for a match, but the anise BPAL uses is different. BPAL licorice is black, pungent, herbal. Lolita Lempicka uses licorice flower, which is a sweeter, more floral, note.

  3. I LOVE Monyette too, but I haven't run across any BPAL that smells like it. But I'd say Alice has a similar feel, the same balance of cream, floral, and spice. Next I'd suggest Pele, which is pure tropical flowers. I did not find Sacred Whore or Le Serpent Qui Danse to be very similar at all (even with the gardenia).

I find Monyette to be strongly tropical vanilla and gardenia, very creamy and almost coconutty. That might help others to make some more suggestions.

  4. Received my second order of imps yesterday, and after a marathon sniffing spree of all 24 imps (I couldn't help myself!!  :P ) I decided to try Follow Me Boy first.  I applied it to wrist, neck and clevage as I usually do, and then something strange happened.  YEOW!!  I barely got the imp closed before I was running to wash if off of my clevage.  It burned like crazy, but only in that one spot.  Very strange.  Has anyone else ever had a burning sensation from any of the oils?  I tried doing a search on this subject without much luck.

Ack!!  I just wish I knew what notes are in "Follow Me Boy" so I could figure out what I might be sensitive to.  Ah, well.  At least I can still wear it on my wrist and neck, which is good, because it really is a lovely scent.  My unskilled nose is still trying to figure this beauty out before I review it.  :D

Sacred Whore of Babylon burns my skin. I'm thinking it's some kind of pepper? This is the only oil of 40 I've tried (including cinnamon blends) that does this.

  5. *Potion with:

-Alice (these match each other eerily well)

-Maiden (this brings out the carnation/floral side of Potion)

I think Harlot also goes really well with Potion. They have the same "Big Red" cinnamon note.

Dana O'Shee and Snowcake - I'm sure this one's been mentioned already! They smell identical to me.

Can anyone recommend something that goes with Jungle or Flowertub? Those two scents are awesome, creamy sweet green florals.

  6. Edited to say:  As it is wearing on, it is getting berry-ish and sweet--kind of like a cross between Maenad and Tamora, but neither one of those.  After more than an hour of drydown it is a berry vanilla scent.

I'm new to the BPAL scents, but this sounds like the imp of Dragon's Milk I tried yesterday.
