  1. this is what I sent to customer service a few seconds ago.

I've been having ordering problems. I sent an email a day or two ago about it as well. I tried to order about three time in the past two days and all my orders got cancelled.

The first order I placed and then went to pay with paypal but found that it would not let me pay via bank transfer.

It said I could only pay with my credit card through paypal, and I don't currently have a credit/debit card. I have never had this happen before, and I have been ordering from you guys for 4 years! I am also a verified paypal user.

After the first order got cancelled, I tried again, thinking I was either seeing things or maybe it was a glitch.

I ordered again and the same thing happened. I emailed you guys and didn't immediately get a response, which is okay because I know you guys are busy. I went on the forums to post about it and got no reply even though I posted in three different threads. I read the paypal thread and people were saying to just place an order and then go directly to paypal (not through CCNOW) and send payment to paypal@blackphoenixalchemylab.com so I did that. There was one other option other than credit card (though not bank transfer, again) and that was e-check. I read the FAQs on the lab site and it didn't say anything against using e-checks, so I sent an e-check for the amount I ordered and wrote in the notes the order I placed.

The order was cancelled, but my payment in paypal is still pending. I got an email from CCNOW saying that I could not use an e-check. I am so confused and a bit frustrated. I have never had this happen before! my paypal account is verified and is in good standing, and I have been using it for years. I am trying to order my mother some 5mls for her birthday, and I'm so afraid that I won't ever be able to order again because I don't own a credit card.

ETA: sorry, i realized I posted the email twice!

  2. I emailed the Lab about this but I haven't heard anything back yet.

I made an order a few hours ago, and I was going to pay for it via paypal which is what i always do. However, for the first time EVER, paypal will only let me pay with a CREDIT CARD. It says that a credit card payment is the only payment I can use for this transaction, and not a bank transfer.

I don't have a credit/debit card. I have been using bank transfers since about 2005 to pay for my bpal. why the sudden change?

Does this mean I can't buy from the Lab anymore?

I still haven't gotten a reply from the Lab about this. The order got cancelled and I made another one. Tried to pay for it again and still, credit card only. Wtf??

ETA: nevermind. looked at the paypal thread.

  4. I am so glad I bought two bars of this soap!

It smelled just like my bottle/s of Snow White '05 and '07, when I unwrapped the package. I liked that the actual bar was wrapped in plastic to seal it before putting it in the beautiful paper. Great idea!!

The lather was a bit thin, but that was okay, I probably should have used my bath pouf to lather up but I couldn't resist holding the nice thick bar in my hands.

It left my skin nice and moisturized, and not tight at all, and my skin is lightly scented.

The fragrance is a BIT different in the shower, but I assume that it is just the Snow White fragrance mixed with the fragrance of the other soap ingredients.

It did not smell much different than what Snow White is supposed to, just slightly altered.

Anyhow I wish I had more than two bars! I'll have to check the trading post to see if there are anymore left!

Thank you for making such a wonderful soap! I really couldn't have imagined Snow White in a soap, it just seemed too wonderful to be true!

  5. This is really beautiful. It reminds me of Antique Lace and Alice.

It smells like a room full of dried roses, linens, dust and carnations that hasn't been touched since 1903.

Spicy, this is like hiding in a soft old heirloom quilt on a snowy cold winter morning, when you don't have to go to school.

    4/5

  6. This blend is absolutely beautiful. I don't have a perfect review, with stages of drying and throw and whatnot.

But I think this blend smells like a male version of Skadi. With sort of aquatic notes/citrus added in with the beautiful ice and snow and fir/pine notes.

Absolutely gorgeous. I will CHERISH my bottle!

  7. VIRGO 2007
Mutable earth: the essence of analysis.
Fennel, valerian, maidenhair fern, carrot seed, honeysuckle, and myrtle.

let's see if I can do a proper Virgoan analysis of this.

wet, on the skin, it is mildly sharp and herbal, with mossy-ness and a bit of earth. Smells a bit like sticking your head into a forest wildflower patch! Kind of comparable to Zombi, except with not much rose and more wildflowers/herbs. I'm not too keen on recognizing things like the valerian, maidenhair fern and carrotseed, but I can assume those are what is contributing to the herbalness, and the honeysuckle and myrtle is what sweetens it up!

    dry on skin
retains its floral sweetness, not much sharp herbal anymore, still mildly earthy but fairly light. Throw is not overpowering at all!

Very pretty scent, I'm usually not a fan of florals that aren't mainly rose, but this one I might actually wear now and then!

  8. Okay. I busted out my little half imp of the original Blue Moon to help write the review for the 2007 version.

wet on skin: Original Blue Moon smells sweeter, colder, cleaner. Like Buck moon. Blue Moon 2007 has an almost astringent herbalness to it, initially. More Asian inspired. It also kind of smells like pot.

drying: original Blue Moon, when dry, has a sweet Ice Queen/Skadi sort of scent. Blue Moon 2007 is getting much sweeter, still herbally and still very pot-like. Like an extremely sweet pot smoke. But the initial harsh herbal smell has faded to something very light and sweet.

dry: its gotten spicy. It is still sweet but not as much.

I probably should not have compared the old version to the new version side by side, for I can't help but be disappointed. I don't know if Beth meant to recreate Blue Moon so drastically, but based on some of the reviews here I was kind of expecting it to smell at least sort of like the original.

I like some Asian notes (like in Holiday Moon) but sometimes they tend to go sour on me and turn into Lemon Pledge.

I'll have to test it again without the original next to it. I really hope I can appreciate this scent.

  9. VERY strange scent, rather disconcerting and brash, the way Freak Show tends to be!

The scent goes WHOOOOSH one note after the other, straight through my nose to my brain.

It is a 'NOTICE ME or DIE' scent. I think this is one of the only BPAL scents that actually seems to be screaming to me, Commanding me.

I can smell the sweet pastry-like almond straight off, then the apple--straight to a strong, dry rose. I can't really smell anything else, but I suppose the Myrrh is giving it a dark murky feel to it.

Throw is incredible. Be careful with this one!

  10. wet: this is a very light scent. Has a masculine, 'boy deodorant' kind of smell. Very clean, second skin, just jumped out of the shower with yummy 'boy soap' kind of smell.

Reminds me of a comforting man. How a daddy or uncle would smell like when you're a little kid and he gathers you up in his arms after skinning your knee.

I really really like this. It is a very comforting, calming scent.

  11. Very light. Almost too light..

I can smell the Vetiver.. and mint.. I can smell some kind of wood, but its not exactly cedar.

To me it smells like a freshly sharpened pencil.

As it dries I can faintly smell more florals, and it does get prettier, but it is way too faint to really tell what they are.

  12. Oh, Fire Pig is LOVELY!

I can smell a lot of fruity notes. Orange, peach, lychee, melon.

But as the oil dries, it turns a bit more floral. Perhaps the plum blossom?

Oh I LOVE IT! It is very uplifting! Definitely a keeper!

  13. wet: very tart, sweet and lemony. I can smell the ginger, and it isn't TOO overpowering. Very clean scent

dry: as it dries, the tartness goes away and the scent gets warmer and sweeter. I can't REALLY smell the cut grass yet. As it dries even more it gets spicier, the ginger comes out as the lemon fades.

Not my sort of thing but I didn't think it was too bad!

  14. Very sweet! Smells like apples, but in a candy sort of way. Fruity but with an icy edge? (I don't know what that could be... it reminds me of those 'icy' starbursts that have an 'icy' or 'frozen' flavor. weird, but cool.

I love shadow witch orchid and this reminds me of it.

definitely getting myself some of this!

    4/5

  15. All clean, fresh lemon. Smells like a mildly strong lemon detergent.

Not the usual 'bad' lemon I get from most lemon BPAL scents (like a cough drop menthol lemon.. yech). There is a sweetness and mildness to it that I can't quite place. Maybe the tea and milk?

    2.5/5

  16. I got a sniffie of this from a VERY nice and generous forum member. There is just enough inside the vial for 2-3 tests.

In the vial it's a very strong cake-ey sugary smell, much like Underbed and Closet. Not something particularly unique or special.

I still eagerly put some on my wrist. Wet, it reminded me a lot of Enraged Bunny Musk, which I didn't much like, but with an added sugaryness. It was pretty disappointing and rather confusing because so many people on here rave about it and to me it was just like.. 'eh?' like 'what's so special?'

I put the vial away and got distracted with another activity.

Then I absent-mindedly sniffed my wrist again (a self confessed habit I've had ever since I started sniffing BPAL)....AND....

    :D HALLELUJAH!

Oh my LORD. Everything that was 'eh' became.. 'OMG!'

Now there are quite a few foody BPAL scents that are just too sickly sweet for me (much like a really good cake with WAY too much sugary frosting that you have to scrape off).

Underpants (when dry) is the sweetest BPAL I've tried that does not become sickly sweet. Not only this, but oh my god it is so yummy. It is hard to explain why exactly I like it so much. It is a second skin sort of scent. It reminds me of the sweet 'me' smell that bedding and pillows have after the laundry detergent and fabric softner smells go away. It reminds me of my teddy bear that I would sleep with every single night for ten years (yeah she was never washed :P ) and most of the reason why I couldn't sleep without her was because the smell just lulled me to sleep.

It does smell like creamy frosting, but more like creamy frosting that has been licked off your fingers and has left a sweet smell on your skin.

I really can't explain it any better than that!

I was actually kind of glad in my at first disappointment in this scent because I knew how hard it would be to find really ANY of this scent (I once saw it on ebay at a buy it now price of 200 dollars for one decant. :D )

But now that I have found how I adore it, I'm quite depressed.

  17. VERY dark and murky. musky. I'm not sure I can handle much of this without a headache. reminds me a bit of cheap drugstore cologne from the early 90's. But it also smells almost like depression, stagnation.

  18. The lavender hit me at once. Now I can smell those dreadful violets... and they are almost as strong as the lavender. despite my hatred for violets I must say how perfect they blend with lavender. I couldn't detect the vetiver, which I know is a pretty strong, bitter note. The scent didn't smell murdeous to me, but it is definitely masculine and reminds me of the sea.

  19. When wet, it is VERY STRONG, and smells very much like Follow Me Boy (which sometimes gives me a headache) smells like jasmine and baby powder, and nothing like the orchids I am used to (like Shadow Witch Orchid).

However, after it dries down there is a lovely vanilla (it was disguised as jasmine! it was SOMEHOW really vanilla!)
