  1. I was just a wee bit worried that this would be a thin white floral, but it's a lovely lush floral, and I'm so glad I went for a bottle! I can't really pick out the notes, but I can smell definitely smell gardenia. This the the perfect full-bodied white floral and I'm delighted with it.

  2. Based on the description I should not like this at all, but I've just put some on my wrist and it's very wearable. The tobacco is way, way in the background but adds an extra something that makes this really complex and wonderful. It's not really "me", but I'm glad that I got to try it.

  3. I was lucky to get a frimp of this with a lab order just before it was discontinued. It's lovely--I can definitely see why it was disconned along with Neo Tokyo, because there's an airy note in common. Empyreal Mist is green and light and very pretty.

  4. For some reason I seem to mostly get the saltiness from Midway. I actually tried one of the original bottles, and then one of the re-issued bottles because I thought that maybe the first one had aged funny and somehow amped the salty note, but I guess that it was just me. Drat!

  5. Smut is exactly what it says on the tin: swarthy, smutty musk! All I smelled when I tried it was strong, dark musk. Almost dirty, but in the good way. Not at all for me (which I should have been able to figure out from the description) but if you think you'll like it based on the description, you're probably right.

  6. I've tried both Sugar Skull 2005 and 2006, but I don't think that I could detect too much of a difference between them. I am a freak who can't walk past the brown sugar in a supermarket, so naturally I love Sugar Skull. It's that same brown sugary smell with an extra boozy edge.

  7. Jailbait is just cool. The topnote is bubblegum and candy, and then there is a lightish floral that peeks through after the drydown. Probably not something for everyday, but well worth having an imp lying around.

  8. Maiden is light, clean carnation with a hint of tea. If the smell was a color it would be white, if that makes any sense at all. I mixed about an imp's worth with some purified water in a spray bottle and used it as a linen spray, which was gorgeous. (I'm probably lucky that the proportions worked out okay and I didn't end up with oil-stained sheets, but the scent was perfect!)

  9. I love Black Pearl, so I'm a bit biased, but Blood Pearl is AMAZING on my husband. I put some in a little roller-top bottle for him to make it easy to apply (he once spilled nearly an entire bottle of Black Forest, so I'm a bit wary). It's like Black Pearl but just a little bit spicier or muskier, very sexy.

  10. I got both Rose Red and The Peacock Queen in my Christmas 2005 order, and they make a really interesting contrast! The Peacock Queen is a really sophisticated rose, while Rose Red is the perfect fresh, young, greeny rose scent. I would love to see this one come back!

  11. Black Pearl is the first BPAL scent that I ever tried and it is still one of my favorites. I can't really pick out any of the notes, but it fits the description perfectly. To me it smells different from anything else I'd worn before.
