    Black Rose

This was included as a frimp from the Lab. I found that the mix of amber, musk, and rose is indeed dark, although I wouldn't call it heavy. Sniffing it, I couldn't help but think of the Victorian Age and the Romantics. I could see Mary Shelly wearing a scent like this. Very sophisticated.

    Peony Moon

Peony Moon is like Amsterdam's big sister. Peony is a soft, feminine floral scent, and it is hard to smell at times. I had to stick my nose nearly in the bottle and take a good whiff. It is the embodiment of Spring- green, life, rain bringing the flowers into full bloom. The mix of the peony with plum and Asian woods is a winner. I'm afraid my skin will gobble up this scent quickly (as my skin does with Amsterdam), but I think Peony Moon will make a wonderful pick me up scent for the scent lockets. Another Lunacy winner.

    Monster Bait: Closet

First off, the label is too darn cute! Ahem, okay, I'll try my hand at a review. In the bottle: Wow! It really does smell like red velvet cake and buttercream. Very sweet, very yummy. Had to resist drinking the bottle (that would be bad!) On the skin: Still very foody and sweet. I can smell the bourbon more now mixed with the buttercream. The red velvet acts as a nice base. Verdict: I might just need another bottle of this before it becomes extinct!

    Asphodel

Hmm. Very light and feminine, and if I had to hazard a guess I would think there is gardenia in this mix. In some ways it reminded me of the light, crispness found in Amsterdam, but Asphodel is more of a white/yellow color while Amsterdam is a yellow/green (if that makes any sense). I definately like it. It lasts for quite some time and isn't so overpowering that you're going to stink up a room. For a scent that is supposed to be from Hell, I can't help but think of the harbinger of springtime.

    Red Lantern

A tribute to the opium den cum bawdyhouses of Shanghai in the 1930’s. Golden amber, blonde tobacco, Sudanese black coconut, rich caramel, black currant, white opium and delphinium laced with a sensual blend of Asian spice. First sniff: wow! The caramel and black coconut are the top notes that hit my nasal passages. It's sweet, and for the life of me it smells like red velvet cake. My boyfriend even asked if they put cream cheese into the oil. Wet on skin: Now the traces of amber and tobacco are coming out, but it's not overpowering. Instead, they blend wonderfully with the caramel and coconut. There is quite a bit of throw in just a small dab. Drydown: Oi, I'm going to need another bottle! This is sultry and mysterious, with the undercurrent of playfulness. It's what I had wished Bordello would have turned out to be on my skin. Definately a 5 out of 5.

    Snow Bunny

I know some people said this smells a lot like Snow Moon, but to me there is a difference. Wet, they are similar, but Snow Bunny has a more youthful smell, which I associate with berries. When it dries, Snow Bunny has a wonderful, powdery scent with a touch of green that lingers. It's got qutie a throw, so it doesn't need to be applied heavily either. The bottle is adorable too.

    Holiday Moon

This is such a fresh, clean, green scent! In the bottle: Green tea, white tea, and a lemony smell. Not like yucky Pledge smell or over the top lemongrass. I think this might be the oude. Wet on the skin: What a beautiful melody! Still very clean, and the bamboo comes out and blends with the tea notes. Drydown: this has some staying power. The lemony smell subsides, and what I have left is the note of a warm cup of green tea while basking in a bamboo grove. This has become my favorite scent of the month.

    Gnome

Being an earth sign, I had my heart set on buying an imp of Gnome and trying it out. Imagine my disappointment when I opened up the imp, took one whiff, and started sneezing. It has the lovely loam/dirt scent that I like in Graveyard Dirt, but I'm sensing patchouli. Oh, how my skin hates patchouli (except in Red Phoenix for some reason). Another imp up for the trade pile.

    Sol

Clove, amber, cinnamonish...in short, it embodies the white, fiery light of the biggest star in our solar system. It smells a little like The Lion to me, which is probably the amber. However, Sol amps up the spice. It's a pleasant scent, but I can see that it is a *really* powerful oil that packs a punch.

    Puck

After all the negative reviews of this scent, I'll admit I was scared to even try Puck. However, I've always really liked the character Puck, so I wanted to give it a try. Real civet comes from cats. The Lab uses artificial (yay!). I don't get the "cat butt" smell that others have smelled (thank goodness!) What I do smell is grape and a woodsy, musky smell. I dabbed some on my skin. While wet, the grape is the strongest note. Then it dies down and I can smell the oakmoss and sage. The civet seems to like my skin. The scent overall has a slight soapy smell, but it's not unpleasant. In fact, I am finding that the longer the oil is on my skin, the more I'm actually liking it. It's not an everyday type of scent, but it is definately a keeper. The naughty part of me wonders what this would smell like layered with Titania too.

    Pink Phoenix

Being that I absolutely love vanilla bean, I knew I would love Pink Phoenix. I'm glad that the Lab didn't let me down. The strawberry isn't as sickly sweet as Strawberry Moon, and the sweet pea gave this what I call a "cute" scent that do associate with silliness. The vanilla, honey, and strawberry mix so well. Very yummy.

    Antique Lace

This is beautiful. There is the fresh linen clean scent that I get from Dirty, mixed with dried, pressed flowers, and a creaminess. It's a very dignified oil, that makes me think of the Victorian Age (minus the crushing corsets!)

    Arkham

I'm happy to say I enabled a friend with this scent. Plus, the SO loves this scent. In the bottle, it smells floral and a tad bit sugary. It reminded me a little of Pink Moon. Definately can smell the wildflowers and a mossy like scent, but the woodsy smell isn't really apparant. It remains floral on the skin, very soft and not squamous (I had to say that). After a hour on the skin, there is a faint woodsy smell that mingles with the florals so well. This has become my favorite oil out of the Springtime in Arkham series.

    The Lion

At first I was worried because I couldn't smell anything in the bottle. Then I realized the bottle was still cold (temperatures around Kansas have been wonky), so I let it sit on my desk and warm to room temperature before taking another sniff. Mmm, spicy amber. I couldn't help going saying "Mufasta" after smelling it (Lion King reference). Granted, it doesn't smell like a real lion...which is a good thing since real lions don't exactly smell all that great. This is what a lion is. Regal, powerful, sleek, and beautiful. I'm going to have to decant this for a friend who is an amber fiend.

    Beaver Moon 2005

I have to agree with quantum spice that the first thought I had when I smelled Beaver Moon in the bottle is Red Velvet Cake (one of my favorites). I kept sniffing. And sniffing. I can sense something creamy, almost vanilla like and sugary goodness of the cupcakes. I did the boyfriend test of "Here, smell this" and he agrees it is a great scent. Dabbed some on my skin and let it dry. In some ways this reminds me of Midway, but this reminds me more of birthday party fun with icing all over the face and fingers, running around with your friends, and having a grand old time. Very playful scent.

    The Fool

This has always been the card that symbolizes my life in the Tarot, so I splurged on a bottle. I can pick the notes of mint, probably spearmint along with bubblegum, apple blossoms, and something that smells a little like lemon. It's a light, carefree scent that fully expresses what The Fool is supposed to be. I'm also finding it to be a nice scent when the depression begins to sink in, since Fool keeps me feeling better.

    Harlot

I've gotten to the point where I can distinguish the different rose notes, and boy howdy, this is rose. Not the roses you find in Snow White, Rose Red, or 2,5, and 7. Oh no, this is like the sexy older sister rose, with a splash of cinnamon to entice. It's the scent of night time promises of lustful indulgence, but you just know the person will be gone come morning.

    Delphi

Maybe it is the bay, but this smells strongly of grape juice to me. Not that I dislike grape juice. There's the note of honey, but I'm not sensing much smoke. It's tangy, which means it is a keeper for me.

    Gluttony

Can we say "chocolate lover's overkill"? I was afraid this might smell too much like Bliss. Nope. Bliss smells like milk chocolate, while Gluttony is pure, dark chocolate (which interestingly enough has been shown to help depression), along with caramel and hazelnuts. I felt like I was wearing the special hot chocolate I get at my favorite coffee shop downtown. Mmm.

    Persephone

Normally I adore the rose scents from the Lab. I also really like pomegranate. For some reason though, Persephone smelled like rose scented Nair to my nose, and I instantly went "blech!" I really wanted to love this scent too.

    Bearded Lady

The honeysuckle, violet, and vanilla notes are the most prominent in this scent. It's a really strong scent at first until the drydown. When dry, it is pretty, although the honeysuckle seems to dominate all of the other notes for several hours, until the vanilla becomes more prominent. Still, given the fact that I would have never thought that Bearded Lady could smell so feminine, I have had to change my mind.

    BPAL around the kids

Oooh, thanks for the suggestion! My boyfriend's stepmom just had twin girls and I was thinking "what is a good mommy scent?". A gift basket would be perfect.

When you need something comforting or cheering

I recently was laid off and I found that smelling the tea scents (Maiden and The Dormouse to be precise) helped me out of my depressed state. Milk Moon is my comfort scent in general.

    Soothing Nightmares & Night Terrors

I lucked out and got some Baku, Twilight, Temple of Dream, Somnus, and some Dove's Heart on the way. Since several members have suggested that Dragon's Milk helps, I'm going to see about getting more of that as well (although I'm afraid the red might stain since when I applied it I stained a bit of my shirt for a bit). I just wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions thus far.

    Soothing Nightmares & Night Terrors

I read that, and that's what got me to thinking about collecting some scents to help fight off the nightmares.
