  1. I think my nose may be broken. I was supposed to smell grape in Wanda, which instead smelled feral, and this is supposed to smell like cranberries, but smells like a big hunk of that shredded grape chewing gum that comes in that "chewing tobacco" type bags.

Not that that's a bad thing, I do like my grape with a nice purple shirt with green accents.

Oh well, all is good. I have a grape scent that doesn't smell of cat butt now. :P

Adds to list of bottle buys. :D

  2. mmm, roses. I love roses. I adore roses. And this one doesn't turn to powder, which gives it a million a+'s. I don't much smell the leather yet, the rose is amped on me so it's beating the leather up. :P If this were a bit greener, it would be much like Rose Red.

  3. This isn't at all dark to me.

In the imp, it's rather astringint, on I can smell the citrus and as it starts drying it smells like a sweet lemon drop. I can still smell the lemon drop in there dry, though it is pushed to the background.

Interesting scent. I must not lick my wrist.

  4. Oh, my love.

This is a pure, fresh *FRESH* rose scent. There's nothing heavy about it. It's perfect. There's no powder, no insense, no lemon woe. It's perfect. It smells like a rose. A PERFECT FRESH GARDEN ROSE -chilled by morning dew! I'm in love. I'll be comparing Peacock Queen with it shortly, but this will be hard to top. :P

  5. I was getting a bit weary of the florals, frankly, so when I put this on I wasn't expecting much.

    But oh!

It's not at all what I'd consider a floral. To me it's almost foody. It's like a warm creamy sweet smell. Don't know what notes are doing that to my nose, but this one is a keeper and er, probably a hoarder. :P

  6. Pine doesn't seem to like my skin at all. As it dries down it evolves some and steps away from the pine, but I'm having a problem getting through the first initial stage. :D It dries to a sweet scent, but there's an undertone of sour, like rancid. :P

  7. I was lucky enough to get one of these bottles after it went down from a fellow LJer. I knew from the description I wanted it. I'm a dirt girl. I love earthy smells.

In the bottle, cypress and something slightly rotten, like leaves that have been sitting under leaves for a very long time. Upturned just after a rain.

On Wet: wet on my skin it disappears. I'm having this issue with a lot of scents lately though. Very faint sniffs of cypress come through. Basically this smells a lot of turned mulch.

Drying: Mm, you know, I swear I smell rose in this. If not, I bet it would make a good base for a rose layering. It's kind of warm on me now rather than dirty. (: Actually, it's more like a scent for a man. A little bit like Polo?

Anyway, I'm trying not to wear too much of it as I want to use it for works. But it's a boost I like the way it smells. And thankfully, my cramps have died down some too.

    Very happy. :P

  8. Everytime I get a floral blend I almost always have the same reaction. "oh, that's nice, that's pretty, I like that.." You know, I'm not overly excited, it's just pretty. Flowers are good. I like flowers.

    Then I got Annabel Lee.

First reaction. Oh, this is odd. It's not really floral in the bottle. I don't know the note, and I'm not going to try to figure it out. It's light as air.

When I put it on the oil is like silver. It's a very light oil, most of my oils (like Stardust) go on like gold. They're thick. This is silver.

So I put it on, do my sniffs. Yep, floral, different stuff going on. It's nice. It's not tripping my buttons or anything, but hey, it's not hamster ass.

Then I start feeling something deep in my gut. It's wrenching. I get mellow, and I mistake this for a sort of happy mellow, and I keep going back to smell my wrists. I'm so happy this is a different floral!

And then, I just get soooooooo sad. This oil is heart wrenching. I went to the sink and found myself washing it off before I even realized that was what it was doing. (which of course, as we all know, does nothing, the oil's going to stick.)

There's a sweet saddness to this oil. I do like it, as it's one of the few oils I have that instill a gut reaction, and I don't know where the sadness is coming from, but it's there. It's like a sad lonely hot summer night with no date, and the one you're pining for doesn't know you exsist. I'm 15 all over again. Dreaming of how things will be when I grow up, when will anyone ever love me, where is my white knight upon a fiery steed.

    Oh, the meloncholy.

I do love this scent, I just have to make sure I have my beau close to me when I wear it, so he can smooth my hair while I rest my head on his chest. He will coo to me that all is ok. It's a special occasion scent.

    Gut wrenching lonliness. Wow.

  9. This smells like a white flower, with a hint of warmth, but the warmth is only caught close to my skin. This has absolutely no throw, so I imagine this to be an evening scent, put in the shallows where your new lover will graze.

Mmm, I like this. I thought I was getting tired of florals already, but this does have quite a bit of appeal.

  10. Mostly this smells sweet to me. I'm not picking up any civet, but I am picking up something that smells like black licorish. It's turning almost foody as it dries down.

What I really want is the cave smell. :P But I'm a earth girl, so of course that's what I want.

I don't dislike this scent. I could probably get away with wearing it. It's not a favorite, though.

  11. In bottle: spicey sweet

On Wet: A little fruit coming through, I get a little bit of the aquatic as it's drying down. Mmm, this is pretty and sweet, not at all horrific. I don't get ozone, thank goodness, as ozone usually icks on me. There's an element of candy in it, but not sickly. I think I may be a currant fan!

Oh, this is pretty and a bit sexy too! I like it! This would be a great bath bomb scent, I think. (:

    A re-buy!

  12. First impression: dewey, sweet, white

On Skin: Wet, I'm thinking white honeysuckle. (must be the moonflower) It's almost grape, but not a heavy grape. Nono, maybe it's the lily I smell. Ok, no matter, it's very sweet and pretty. (or maybe it's all Jasmine)

I don't smell any sandlewood or ylang ylang.

This is a very nice blend.

  13. I'm starting to really like trying to review a scent before reading what others say. :P

    In Imp: Wood, slightly sweet

On Wet: Something almost fruity sweet mixed with wood. not strong, sweet is moving underneath

On dry/ing: Aww, they place nice together. :D One minute I'm getting the fruit, the next I'm getting the wood. Another one I like. Not for everyday.

  14. in Imp: sweet and floral something a little spicey

on Wet: pretty much the same - spicy comes out a bit more

    on Dry: a spicey rose

Very pretty and sweet though a bit of a fader. A keeper for me because I want to have Eve on one wrist and Lilith on the other. :P

  15. White and pretty, vaguely floral, a liitle civet, i think, believe it or not. it's got a bit of feral. It's not that noticable, I just have a single note of it and I think I picked it up.

:P omy, i just spilt the whole imp on my arm. :D and it's STILL very light.

On -wet: (AHAHAHHAHA): light, white, pretty much same as in bottle minus the feral. My skin soaks this up FAST.

Dry: This fades really fast on me. It hasn't really morphed at all. I'll check back in an hour if it has. I mean, it's *there* it's just very light.

Very pretty, though. It's wispy, reminds me of unicorn dust or fine wisps of their hair.

  16. I don't think I'm into the Myrrh. I'm pretty sure I'm ok with Vetiver. I'll have to keep testing to find out. :P

In bottle: heavy oily sluggy sharp

    On - Wet: black licorish

It definitely lives up to it's description!

  17. ((I try not to read reviews until I've done mine...))

    In bottle: a warm floral

On skin - wet: Warm and a little spicey. I'm picking up what I think is rose.

Drying: It mellows out a bit and becomes lighter. It's a sweet rose, but not a heavy one. It's not conventionally rose.. but that's what it is. There is a tad bit of green in it. Very fresh and pretty!

This is nice and strong. Great throw. Staying power is amazing! I don't detect any powder (and I got plenty of powder in Silentium Amoris)) This would be a nice room scent with a window open come springtime.

  18. I'm trying really hard not to read other reviews while testing out these scents. Seems to affect my observation. (:

    In Bottle: Dark and sharp.

On skin - Wet: I smell a bit what I identify as balsam, and definitely some juniper. As it dries, the juniper comes out moreso.

On skin - Dry: Dark evergreen. I don't get much patchuli, it's trying to find it's way up, but it's held back.

Drying more: It's ok on me, it's very green. The juniper beats up the patchuli, but I catch hints of it now and again.

An hour later: The more it dries, the more the patchuli comes forward and the juniper behaves itself. I'd say this is true to it's description. (of course, your interpretation of the description may vary. :D ) It's dark, it's sharp, it's earth and green and it's dreary all at once -- and not a even a little sweet.

This would be so nice on a walk during fall afternoon/evening, you can even smell a bit of smoke in there!

ETA: Just a bit later: O, there's that strong patchuli! And did I mention staying power. :P :D

  19. I've really been into the dirt scent ever since Nosferatu. I wanted something like Nosferatu, only different. (I still love me some Nosferatu!)

    In the bottle:

Not much of a smell at all. I smell the dirt i smelled in Nosferatu, only cleaner. No floral scent:

On skin - Wet: I'm really not getting much of a throw from this. I smell a bit of the dirt with a bit of rose. Not in the least floral. A very light frangrence.

On skin - Drying: I smell a bit of citrus tang, it's nothing offending. It's actually nice. The rose starts to lift up a bit, it's a very very very light rose.

This is a very dry, chillly scent. There's absolutely nothing warm about it, but it makes me smile non the less. It's actually a bit bright. There is some citrus in there, and at times it can go detergenty (depending on my outlook, I think) and at times it can just be the mix of the rose and citrus. They're fighting each other on my wrist right now, close to my skin, citrus, wafting - rose. Not much dirt left after the dry down.

I dig this. Not as much as Nosferatu, but this has it's own groove, and I like it.

I'll edit in an hour after final dry down. :P

  20. I'd like to preface this by saying I have 4 kids, and you'd think I didn't *need* Fire of Love, but then maybe you don't have 4 kids. (; My youngest is 4 months, with a 2 year old on her heels. I feel decidedly unsexy 98% of the time. I need a very "for non-creational purposes only" sex boost. :P

Wet: I smell Ginger root. It's not all the way warm, it's actually goes back and forth between warm and green.

    Drying down: Gets warmer.

Later: I don't know why, but ginger always smells like cedar to me. That's where it's going as it dries down and settles in.

It reminds me quite a bit of Red Queen -minus the cherry and add ginger. There's also a bit of sickly sweet in there I can't identify. Almost like sassafras. I have a single note civet and there might be a tiny half drop of civet in there, but generally civet doesn't offend me much. The sweet. Oh man, makes me want to die. *perserveres*

It's not as sweet as Follow Me Boy, so there's at least that for me.

And I'll be checking out the "affects" soon and editing my post. (:
