  1. I have Echo on my left wrist, and Narkissos on my right - these two are the perfect counterparts to each other. Echo is quintessentially feminine; a delicate, creamy blossom with a whiff of tuberose, a light touch of sandalwood and amber all blended together to create a scent that is vanilla without being buttery or foody in the least, containing floral notes without being floral.. Eh, I'm screwing this up because the overall effect is so hard to define. There's definitely a light musk there, and the dried down version of Echo on my skin is just beautiful, delicate and pretty. :wub2:

  2. When I first read the description for this spray, I thought it might be too hard, boozy or smokey for me to enjoy as a room scent, but I'm happy to say it was nothing like I expected. The overall effect is a super sophisticated wood scent with luscious spice and a dash of bourbon vanilla to smooth it out. This smell is *sexy*, and I plan on never running out. It's THAT awesome.

  3. White magnolias, vanilla orchid, and a cascade of champagne.

This is a surprise hit for me! I usually don't like champagne scents, but I mostly get vanilla orchid from Gertrude Dix, with a light effervescence that must be the champagne note - it usually turns to a bitter, dusty smell on my skin, but sprayed around my bedroom it is *perfect*. The overall effect is a light, creamy floral that has a clean feel to it. It's unlike any of the other atmosphere sprays, and I'm go glad I got it!

  4. I'm fascinated by the other reviews because I don't get any lemon or 'lightness' out of this at all, and I frickin' LOVE IT. This is a scent I would never, ever wear because it's mainly foody but I'm thrilled to have it as a room spray because it's so perfect for Halloween.. And everyone knows it's Halloween every day at my place. This comes across as a very 'golden' smell, a fruity bread with fragrant spices. As with most atmospheric sprays, this has superior throw and staying power. :yum:

  5. This is so high-class whorehouse. Well, maybe high class vampire whorehouse! This smells gorgeous and I'm so glad I took a chance on it. The mention of garlic flowers put me off originally but I needn't have worried - it's all warm resins with a shot of something spicy-sweet and a dark floral. Love it! :wub2:

  6. I remember testing this at a will call and thinking it was probably going to be a big winner, so of course I bought a bottle without re-testing it. Maybe it's wonky body chemistry issues, but this is nothing like the fabulous ice-cream scent I was expecting on me. Instead it's sickly, strong, burned vanilla-plastic that I actually had to wash off.

I did smell it on someone else, and it was a light vanilla on her. Nothing to write home about, but then BPAL has created some gorgeous vanilla scents, so maybe I'm just holding Detestable Putrescence to a higher standard.;)

  7. This is *nothing* like Jingo-Kogo to me - JK certainly doesn't have gardenia in it, and this is the most prominent note here. I love the smell of it in the bottle, but unfortunately I amp the gardenia until it's sickly sweet and powdery. :(

  8. I get mostly strong cologne, herbs and cedar from this, which is a big disappointment, but my body chemistry's been so screwed up since I got pregnant and had my baby so it may be *me* and not the oil amping the notes. I do get some light leather on the dry-down, but this isn't even in the same league as Perversion, Quincy Morris or Dead Man's Hand, which are BPAL's sexy leather standouts.

Vampire cowboy sounds about right, since this is very much an outdoorsy scent. Nice. Just not very 'me'.

  9. Grace fell in love with this at will call and had to have it, so I decided to sneak a quick skin test in when she wasn't looking. In the bottle, I could easily mistake this for Yemaya because the most dominant note is the honeydew melon. Dry, the mint and lime add a sparkling quality that make this perfect for the hottest summer days.

  10. I'm not a huge fan of florals as a general rule, but The Flower Girl is darkly lovely, and something I could see myself wearing to an event or if I wanted to be perceived as sophisticated. ;) There are armfuls of blooms, all vibrant and dominant (I could have sworn I smelled irises and roses in there) and dark, lush greenery.. and in the background, something insidious that stops it from being merely 'pretty' and gives it a 'perfume' blackened edge. This is not your typical floral! It's very grownup and distinctive with plenty of throw that lasts for hours.

  11. Sniffing this in the bottle, it's a jumble of sweet foodiness - cotton candy, cream, something slightly fruity and perhaps a touch of something chocolatey. But on my wrist, it morphs into a dark cotton candy with wafts of incense. I'm sure this is going to be a big hit in the Carnival if/when it's released!

  12. This spray is really lovely and smells a bit different in the bottle than it does actually spritzed onto fabric or around a room. My husband isn't a big fan of incense scents, but even he commented on how great this smells! I do get resins and a soft wood, but the overall feel is one of warmth an sophistication. Fancy schmancy!

  13. I'm so glad this wasn't just another candy-sweet strawberry scent! Instead, Strawberry Moon '09 is something more unique I think. This is a fresh, realistic bite of strawberry with the milky-sweet snap of dandelion stems. On my skin, those two notes duke it out all the way through the drydown without either one of them really being the stronger. It has less noticeable vanilla than I got from the tester at will call, but it's still lovely. Very clean, lightly fruity and so summery. :wub2:

  14. This scent has me caught right between hate and love.. or to be more precise, the heebies and love. I can't spend a lot of time in places filled with very old things - ever since I was a child, there have been times in museums or castles where almost every hair on my body has stood on end with what I can only describe as hyper-awareness. In any case, I've come to associate that feeling with a certain smell and it reminds me of incense and dust. Capela dos ossos is almost exactly like this smell with perhaps a touch of amber - how did Beth *do* that? In any case, I can appreciate the cleverness and the 'rightness' of this scent.. while being unable to wear it myself. I'm sure incense lovers will be all over this one if it gets released!

  15. Last night at will call, my 5 year old tested a handful of bottles and actually offered to use her birthday money to buy a bottle of Earth Ox - it was love at first sniff, and my daughter is a smellies SNOB. She was oohing and aahing over it, and it was so damn cute I had to buy one for her. She dabbed it on immediately, and the friends we went to dinner with afterward commented on something smelling really good. I'm used to that being *my* perfume they're complimenting, but no, it was Grace. Earth Ox is a very joyous scent, with prominent notes of melon, and a squirt of juicy plum and tangerine. This is the perfect scent for these remaining days of winter and is a pretty outstanding fruit blend.

  16. I'm going to have to agree with the first review - this reminds me of Underpants minus bourbon vanilla, and it has a lot in common with Glowing Vulva though slightly less vanilla, more riceflower/cream accord/sandalwood. When I tried Castitas bath oil, I remember wishing it came in perfume oil form - well, this is it with a dash of something extra that makes it pretty fab. Very wearable, simple but sexy.
