    Manila

Huh, I never got around to posting a review of this. In the bottle: bananas. I'm glad that I didn't sniff this wet the first time I tried it on, because I never would have tried it if I had. On: the bananas fade in about a minute, and the scent morphs into a smooth, luscious tropical floral with pineapple. 20+ minutes: still the luscious tropical florals and pineapple, with just the teensiest waft of spice. One of my favorites, and highly recommended. Wow, do I need to get a bottle and stop rationing my imp.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

How similar are Midway and Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo? I've got an imp of Midway, and I've got an imp of Mojo coming...but I'm feeling impatient! The urge to snag a completely excessive amount of Midway off eBay is getting...stronger....must....resist.........*flail*

    Baba Yaga

I was really, really hoping for a pineapple scent, so I was a little disappointed when the only time I got pineapple was when I sniffed the bottle. On, it has a spicy, incensey quality with just the slightest undercurrent of soap. It's nice - I love spicy and incensey scents - but I think I'm going to swap it. PS. I tried layering it with a drop of O to see if that would help, and I was only able to bring up the pineapple for a moment. :/

    Bliss

Sweet chocolate that has just the tiniest hint of musk on drydown. Wonderful by itself, and I'm probably going to layer it with just about everything. I have got to slather this on a guy.

    Grand Guignol

I only get the booziness for the first 15 minutes, and then it fades to straight apricot. The kind of apricot that would squirt and run down your chin if you ate it. It's a good scent, but I think I'm going to be layering it more than I wear it on its own. It's AWESOME with Bliss, fwiw.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

I already report my allergic reactions and skin irritations in reviews, but I figure it can't hurt to post them here, too. Blood Amber - horrible stinging welt Fire Eater - very mild tingly burn that went away after an hour Saturnalia - sneezing fit upon opening, never applied Silk Road - very itchy Headache-inducers Black Phoenix Snake Charmer

    Bordello

The first time I tried this, I got a stale Juicyfruit scent that wasn't really working for me. This time, I'm getting a nice creamy blackcurrant from start to finish. I won't need a bottle, but I'll probably keep the imp for days when I'm in a blackcurrant mood.

    Red Devil

Going on, I got a nice spiced orange scent, but it quickly turned to a nasty dirty-laundry smell on me. Fortunately, I was trying it with someone it worked on, so it found a good home straightaway.

    Elegba

In the bottle: Rum with a pineapple undertone On, wet: artificial rum flavoring! On, dry: the rum has scaled back a bit, and now I can smell coconut and just the barest zing of tobacco. On, 20+ minutes: sweet rummy tobacco (light throw)

    Black Phoenix

In the bottle, I really couldn't pick out any individual notes. It was just very, VERY strong and overpowering. On - now this may sound weird - it smelled like a combination of Poison (the perfume) and Coca-Cola concentrate. I could see how this scent could potentially smell great on someone, but that someone isn't me.

    Lustration

I got a strong lemon-menthol scent in the bottle, and it smelled like that on my skin, too. It faded in about 20 minutes, but, it's not a perfume blend. It's an aromatherapy blend, and it's short life on me is actually a selling point in this case. As far as the aromatherapy benefits go, it's a great pick-me-up. I keep my imp by the computer, and I sniff it when I want a little caffeine-free recharge. If I ever need it's benefits for longer I can always drop a little into a tealight.

    Bearded Lady

I'm one of those people that, whenever a scent has rose in it, the rose note goes completely into overdrive. I had hoped from the reviews that the rose would be a minor note (I'm looking for a floral I can wear), but it was really strong on me. After the initial stages (which were just ROSE ROSE and more ROSE on me), it faded to a mix of rose + something fresh. I didn't get any vanilla at all. As florals go on me, it wasn't so bad, but it's not "me," yannow?

    Aureus

True, perfect golden light, refined into an incomparably glorious scent. Apparently, my chemistry amps up cedar quite a bit. When I first but this on, it had a sharp and overpowering cedar + something sharp scent. After about half an hour, it faded to a nice cedar + amber blend. I like this stage, and it lasted a long time: all day and overnight, until I took a shower. However, it's too masculine for me, and there are plenty of scents I like that don't have bad stages on me and suit my personality. I imagine it would smell absolutely delicious on a man. (If they don't get that sharp stage I had).

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

The Star has a strong lemony-minty note.

    Gluttony

Thick, sugared and bloated with sweetness. Dark chocolate, vanilla, buttercream, and hops with pralines, hazelnut, toffee and caramel. This smelled very strongly of butter, gingerbread and chocolate in the imp, but it really doesn't work with my body chemistry. On, it smells like gingerbread, a sticky floral (?!?!?!?!) and bengay. Oh, well. ETA: I identified the culprit. Hops. :/

    Milk Moon 2005

Sour evaporated milk moon on me.

    Snake Charmer

It was very strong and perfume-y on me. Amber with plum and spices, from application to when I washed it off. Remarkably stable, actually. I'll need to make a cologne of the imp if I decide to keep it, though. It's that strong.

    Midway

It's a lovely cotton candy and funnel cake smell (and a great alternative to those sticky-sweet cotton candy sprays at the drugstore) , but it seems to require slathering to have any strength. I want to try layering it with The Star.

    Shill

I got my imp of Shill all over my hands when I tried it. So I really can't give an accurate evaluation of its strength/throw. It did smell very strongly of buttered salty popcorn, but it kind of turned funky on me after about 30 minutes. It would be great for a room scent, though.

    The Star

Oooh, this is a really good gourmand scent. When I first put it on, I got a clear and sunny lemon drop scent that faded into...Lipton Mint Lemongrass tea over about 3 minutes (I don't think they make that tea anymore ). The minty-lemony goodness lasted for about 15 minutes until a coconut note appeared and gradually took over the scent. Most of the notes were top notes, so only the vanilla and coconut are still going strong a few hours later, with just the slightest undercurrent of lemon balm-in-the-sun. Absolutely lovely. I'm going to need a bottle of this.

    Job Interview Recommendations

Ooooh, I haven't tried very many perfumes yet, but I would recommend: Dorian Kunstkammer Silk Road The Star Oneroi They're all fairly light.
  22. My husband likes Anne Bonny, Dorian and Freak Show on me.

    Tezcatlipoca

This smelled strongly of cocoa in the imp. When I put it on, the leather note got very strong and sharp for a moment, but then faded into the background while the cocoa reemerged. Once dry, all the notes come into balance. It's really wonderful. I can smell light florals, chocolate, resins and leather at about the same intensity. The leather adds just enough dirt to the florals and chocolate to make this sexy and dry.

    Miskatonic University

In the imp, I could definitely smell pipe tobacco and coffee, which are incredibly comforting scents to me. However, once I put it on, the leather note became incredibly sharp and aggressive and would not fade away until I lost patience a few hours later and washed it off. I love the scent of leather in real life, but this was much stronger and sharper than that. It was frustrating, because I could still smell the yummy pipe tobacco and coffee underneath. I can see how this could be a really great scent on someone else, though.

    Hunger

Evokes sheer, unadulterated carnal lust. An undeniably warm and sensual scent. Black narcissus, orange blossoms, and vanilla. In the imp, this seemed a bit astringent and strong. The effect lasted through the first five minutes...and then it became a lovely floral. Florals have a tendency to become very overpowering and sweet on me, but I think the vanilla grounded it just enough to keep me from smelling like an attack bouquet. It's very formal and feminine in a society-lady way on me. I like it, and I'll keep my imp (it's appropriate for weddings), but it's not something that I'd wear every day.
