  1. In the bottle, I was surprised by how harsh and chemically this smells. But I decided to try it anyway... and it smells exactly like play-doh on me. Exactly. I've never had a blend "go play-doh" on me, but now I know that it's meant quite literally. icon_eek.gif No one else has mentioned this, so I think it's just me. I was hoping for the patchouli to be prominent here, and half-expecting the florals to be fairly strong, but I really can't pick anything coherent out of this... Off to sales/swaps... :(

  2. This *barely* leaked on its way to me so I could smell it before I ever sprayed it, and it smells almost *exactly* like Solstice Scent's Monster Mash - a smoky vanilla/mahogany with a vaguely spicy fruitiness on top. I almost thud.gifed when I smelled it, it's so good. wub2.gif The slight fruitiness seems to disappear once it's sprayed, though, and the cigar smoke and woods really come out. aroused.gif

  3. I put an order in through Paypal on the 13/14 of May 2011 and I still have not got shipping notification, I've sent a few emails to the Lab as well without any replies. I understand they are super busy but I'm worried my order has been overlooked  where should I go from here ?

I am as well. My order was fairly large so I figure it's likely that something is on back-order. Just so you know you're not the only one. 00000288.gif

  4. Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but here goes.

On USPS's Track and Confirm page, does the status of your package actually change? Mine has been Electronic Shipping Info Received since I got my CNS on May 14. Does this ever change to something like Shipped or Delivered, or is that it?

If it makes a difference, I'm in Canada.

It doesn't change from "shipping info received", unless you spent over $500 and got free shipping, which has tracking.

  5. Just wondering if any Canadians are waiting on orders that were CnS'd around May 14? I noticed in the I Got My Order thread that someone else got a CnS on May 14 and received the order on May 19. I got my Cns the same day, but am still waiting on my order on May 26.

I got a CnS on May 16th and it only just arrived today. I think the Long Weekend might have slowed things down a bit, plus packages do get stuck in customs/sorting plants every once in a while. 2-3 weeks isn't unusual for packages from the States and it depends on where you live in Canada. The girl you're talking about - hers came unusually fast.

  6. Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some informations about an order placed in mid-April. Is there anyone in Europe who is waiting for an order placed at the same time ? I already tried to contact the Lab by email but I still have no answer from them since last weekend. This is a bit scary, this is my second purchase on the Lab and this one is a decent one with the entire RPG collection, plus scents for my girlfriend (thanks to her for driving me totally mad about BPAL products ^^).

Thank you for any help provided ))

    Fred

I'm waiting for a CnS from an order from April 15th. But it's within the estimated time frame still, so I'm not too worried.

  7. This reminds me of the Knave of Hearts. To me it's a spicy dry white/almond cake, and I swear a hint of rose after it hits my skin. KoT is way too rosy on me, but I'm really enjoying this, although the released version is still in my top 5 and absolutely one-of-a-kind. wub2.gif

  8. I don't know if anyone else has run into this, but something important to know when shipping packages to CANADA for sales ans swaps:

You cannot mark it as "Perfume" on the customs slip. I sent one out earlier in the week at one PO location, and she lady told me I could not send perfume, because it has alcohol in it, and you cannot send alcohol based things to Canada. (??) I clarified with her that it is perfume OIL, and without any alcohol. She had me add the word "oil" to the description, and it was okay.

Today I sent another one out to Canada, at a different PO location, and almost got into a fight with the lady, because I filled out the customs slip "Perfume Oil" and she told me I was not able to send it. I told her I just did three days ago, and she said it cannot say "perfume" or "cologne" at all. So I crossed out perfume and wrote "essential" and she took it.

After that, I really hope the one I sent on Tuesday gets to the recipient without problem!

Also, I did indeed notice that my shipping was charged more when I marked "merchandise" on the slip, so instead I check "Gift", and it seems it costs me less to send.

(Sorry if this thread is supposed to be for online purchasing and shipping to Canada, and not sales or swaps from here! I just thought I'd share what I know for forum info).

It's because it's considered flammable, but even then there's an exception: "Products that contain low concentrations of dangerous goods may not be regulated if the dangerous goods are diluted to such an extent that the product no longer poses a hazard. For example, a flammable liquid that is diluted so that it is no longer flammable is not a dangerous good, provided that it does not fall under any of the nine classes listed above." I've had a few people from the States mark the packages as "perfume" and it hasn't been a problem. Everyone else has just written "cosmetic products" or "body products" and that seems to be fine. But of course these are perfume oils and don't contain alcohol, so the second PO lady probably just didn't understand the reason for the import restriction on perfume and the difference between them and perfume oils.

  9. Thanks to the person who sent me a sniffie of this!

Yup, definitely honey and reminiscent of O--although lighter and a bit woodsy--out of the bottle. On the skin, it's softer - I personally wouldn't say it's baby-powder-ish, though. And an hour or so later, there suddenly seems to be a distinct metallic tang emerging... really unusual, but I think I might actually like this better than O... and hope the released version is similar. aroused.gif

  10. I love laundry scents! Could we get some more recs in? Unlike the OP I'm looking for something that smells like fresh laundry (as opposed to something to scent laundry with, if that makes sense).

I've tried some of the scents listed here but they were either too aquatic (Sea of Glass) or too floral (Dirty). An example of what l would consider a wonderful laundry scent would be Antique Lace- it may straddle the foodie, but it just makes me feel clean. It's that linen/cotton note. Is there anything quite like it amongst all the other scents out there?

Wensleydale (Gaiman > Good Omens) comes to mind immediately. The White Rabbit too, although that's not a purely linen/cotton scent, it is in there in the background.

  11. When there is trouble with one of our customer service email addresses (like the one we're having with TAL at the moment), we post notices for specific alternatives.

Okie dokie, thank you for mentioning that. I figured posting a message on Facebook might offer some alternative ways of getting in contact with CS or get a message passed along to have someone look into it and e-mail back. I shouldn't have said when I didn't know for sure that that was acceptable or not. But oh well, lesson learned, I will just wander off now and place another BPAL order. 00000288.gif

Were you referring to BPAL FB or Twitter specifically, or to their personal Facebook and Twitter accounts? I see the BPAL accounts as places to make announcements (or sneak peeks :smilenod: !) and the personal are, well, personal. Either way, it would never occur to me to try and contact them that way regarding customer service...

Sorry if I was beating a dead horse above, I was just trying to work it out in my brainz. :ninja:

The BPAL page, not their personal pages--I wouldn't have suggested that, it would be like giving out their home phone number for CS. I'm just used to people using company Facebook page as an alternative way of contacting staff when e-mails are going through, and they simply let the staff know so they can get in touch with the person who's having trouble... like Lush, Holy Crap, Solstice Scents, Moona.. etc. but I shouldn't have assumed it might be appropriate here as well... but yes, the horse is getting rather rotten. 00000288.gif

  12. After trying Golden Wave, I have to go with tangerines (and/or possibly passion fruit). The two scents are very similar to my nose but I find Floating Brain thinner/flatter. "Buoyant" immediately came to mind when I first sniffed it. I'm not getting any fizziness at all--granted, I only have a sniffie, so it might have dissipated with age. Not enough to skin test. Suits its name quite well and is an interesting scent, but a bit flat and not very complex... probably won't hunt down a proper tester.

  13. I'm hoping someone can calm my jitters..

I got a TAL CnS on March 1st - as of today the order still has not arrived. This has been the longest that I've ever had to wait for a package either from BPAL or TAL and I'm getting worried something may have happened to it. It was an order of about under $300, so I'm thinking maybe it's going to be hit with Customs, which I don't really mind, but does it explain the delay?

Can other Canadians tell me the longest they've had to wait for a package before, and at what time should I be contacting the customer service email for TAL with inquiries as to what to do?

Just wondering if you got your order yet? I just got a package yesterday that was mailed on the first from a forum member in California as well so if not your should be there soon I hope. :)
