  1. If you like florals, maybe Love Lies Bleeding (no notes listed, but there is a chocolatey aspect - it's been described as "Valentine's Day in a vial" or something similar) or Kali (a blend of the sacred blooms of cassia, hibiscus, musk rose, Himalayan wild tulip, lotus and osmanthus swirled with offertory dark chocolate, red wine, tobacco, balsam and honey) if you like complex scents.

I've tried How Doth The Little Crocodile, and while the chocolate peppermint is noticeable, the other notes are strong enough that I didn't wind up smelling like a box of Junior Mints.

  2. My skin often amps vanilla, so I was expecting something sweeter and more conventionally foody. That's not what I got. This was buttery in the bottle, but surprisingly earthy on my skin (earthy but not a dirt note), with some spice and a bit of foody sweetness. More unisex and not nearly as pumpkin pie-like as I'd anticipated.

  3. The Rose I'm looking for is a blend of coco chocolate, like dark chocolate not Hershey's, blood red Roses that have that beautiful dark bouquet and spicy aroma, a hint of spices, and honey. Maybe some amber leather and vanilla or neroli but those would be extra awesome. I really want the Rose and Chocolate with the accents to be the main note. I have been desperately searching for a blend like this. Anyone know of a bpal blend with these characteristics?

I looked at Kali and seraglio but they both have too much else going on between wine notes and other flowers or fruit.

Love-Lies-Bleeding from Rappacini's Garden doesn't have a note list, but there is definitely a floral + chocolate aspect to it. Some reviewers described it as "Valentine's Day in a bottle" or something to that effect. I got more Ferrero Rocher than bittersweet chocolate myself, but it might be worth trying. At any rate, it's GC and impable, so if it doesn't work for you, you won't be out much.

  4. OK, I'm gonna hijack this thread and ask for very specific recommendatons! ;)

Forum fairies, can you work your magic on me?

I am looking for a floriental - although I'm usually not much of a floral scent person.

I do not like rose (too soapy) or violet (makes me nauseous). Carnation is sort of meh for me, as it kinda smells like band-aids on my skin. :(

I really love Queen of Sheba, and I like Hunger. (As far as "other" scents are concerned, I really love Snake Oil and variations of it - such as Asp Viper! - and musky blends like Giant Vulva or Xiu..ha..youknowwhatimean)

I used to like Defututa, but I swapped it away because it seemed too green to me after a while, and I stopped wearing it.

White Phoenix and Opuhi were TOO floral for me and both gave me a severe headache.

I am not too fond of really dark scents (anything black or smoked), and I am careful with fruity notes (no apricot, peach, pom) and patchouli.

Almond, spices, vanilla, lighter or oriental musks (white, skin, Arabian, Egyptian etc.) always work on me. Now.. just some florals in the mix would be great!

Any ideas? Can be GC, LE, DC, whatever.

I hope this is not too.. specific and impossible.

(I also take floral recs that are not strictly florientals..)

Salome (almond with star jasmine, oakmoss, red sandalwood and Egyptian musk) has a lot of your "yes" notes and might work well for you if you can wear jasmine.

  5. I can see the resemblance to Snow White - it has a similar soft coolness - but Pink Snowballs actually reminds me more of Possets' "Baby," although it works better with my body chemistry. (Something in Baby goes sour - probably the rose - but Pink Snowballs behaves itself.) Rose is unreliable on my skin, but the rose in Pink Snowballs doesn't get too high-pitched, turn acrid, or amp itself to high heaven. Overall it's a nice, subtle, feminine scent - good for when you want something sweet, youthful and girly that doesn't go into all out candy territory.

  6. Origin: purchased on the forum.

In the imp: juicy and fruity. Oil is a rather attractive red color.

On application: still juicy, but no longer gives the fruity impression. Smells rather familiar... wet lilacs?

Yep. Lilacs. No obvious sign of the amber, unfortunately, but I like lilacs so this is still very wearable.

A couple of hours after application, still lilacy, although it varies between "wet lilac" and a sweeter, sort of "candied violet" scent. It never quite goes into soapy territory, however.

I'm a bit sorry that I didn't pick up on any of the amber, but at least now I know what dragon's blood smells like on me, and that I like it.

  7. Very evocative. BPAL's themed blends don't always remind me of their sources of inspiration, but Mary Read is fabulously piratey. This reminds me of the smell of a wooden ship, combined with sweet, non-solventy rum. I can smell just a hint of leather underneath. I think it could also work on a guy who liked sweeter smells, if he had cooperative chemistry and didn't mind the name.

One of my current Pathfinder games is set on a pirate ship, and Mary Read will be just the thing to wear to game along with my tricorn.

  8. You could also add Plunder or Port Royal to the pirate pack instead of one of the Pearls.

Oldest Profession Imp Pack: Bien Loin D'Ici, Bordello, Harlot, Hetairae, Mata Hari, Sacred Whore of Babylon

Precious Stones Imp Pack: Black Pearl, Blood Pearl, Roses Pearls & Diamonds, Les Bijoux, El Dorado, Brisingamen

Vampire Imp Pack: Lucy's Kiss, Blood Countess, Dracul, Nosferatu, Blood, Twilight

Norse Mythology Imp Pack: Fenris Wolf, Odin, Yggdrasil, Brisingamen, Raven, Troll

  9. For the Pathfinder RPG core deities:

    Abadar: Bat of Wealth?

    Asmodeus: Villain layered with Brimstone.

    Calistria: Lust, Whip

    Cayden Cailean: Captain Cully, Roadhouse

    Desna: Evening Star

    Erastil: Buck Moon, Ranger, Ochosi

    Gorum: Fighter

Gozreh: Tempest for the sky aspect, Yemaya for the sea aspect.

    Iomedae: Paladin

    Irori: Tushnamatay

    Lamashtu: Ekhidna

Norgorber: Rogue, layered with Psychological Horror

    Pharasma: Wings of Azrael

    Rovagug: Wrath

    Sarenrae: A Wonderful Light, Aureus

Shelyn: Muse, Beautiful and Adored (because she is)

    Torag: Dwarf, Ogun

    Urgathoa: Dance of Death, Zombi

Zon-Kuthon: Torture King, for the name if nothing else.

  10. Some scientists did a study, and apparently mint and citrus tend to be perceived as pleasant by the highest percentage of people across cultures. (Schrodinger's Cat, if you like it and it doesn't amp on you?) If you're not in a situation where citrus allergies are a concern that might be worth keeping in mind.
