What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

X-Men: First Class Raven/Mystique: Shoggoth (Ever changing, protoplasmic and primordial: white amber, green coconut meat, iris, palmarosa, Chinese peony, lime, water lily, snowdrop, muguet, lemongrass, osmanthus, wisteria, glassy musk, and hinoki.) Kiyohime Changes from a Serpent (Salty ocean spray, red kelp, black plum, lychee, sea moss, green musk, hachiya, plum blossom, and matcha.) Emma Frost: Shattered. (A scent as sharp as glass shards, and as brittle as a broken heart. A blend of white champagne notes, grapefruit, lotus, slivered mint and crystalline aquatic blooms.) Monna Vanna (Russian rose, mimosa, gardenia, bois du rose, parma violet, calla lily, red currant, ambergris, and bourbon vanilla.) Sebastian Shaw: Villain. (A classic Victorian men's cologne: a lavender fougere, with hints of lilac, lime, and citrus musk.) Angel Salvatore: Follow Me Boy. (A houdoun recipe dating back almost 150 years. This blend is favored by prostitutes, exotic dancers and others in the sex industry for its power to attract, seduce, and enthrall.) Gypsy (as in the moth) (Bourbon vanilla, Egyptian musk, tonka, white sugar, and cardamom.) Erik Lensherr/Magneto: Mr. Qubit. (Gleaming metal, electrical discharge, and a whiff of tinny cologne.) Maybe Ogun for the mythological associations, but I can't picture him wearing anything fruity. Charles Xavier: Dee. (His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods.) I thought Dee was appropriate for an academic type with supernatural powers. Casanova (Who says librarians can’t be sexy? A rakish blend of leather, anise, lavender, bergamot and amber with tonka, lemon peel and lusty patchouli.) Inspired by his tendency to use genetics trivia to try to pick up women in bars. Azazel: The Ifrit. (Desert sand, red musk, blackened ginger, dragon's blood resin, black pepper, cinnamon, and tobacco.) Riptide: Hurricane. (The Dark Side of Air: a high pitched, tangy, clear scent -- light China rain deepened by murky vetivert.) Hank McCoy/Beast: No. 93 Engine. (Balm of Gilead, benzoin, frankincense, balsam of peru, beeswax, saffron, galbanum, calamus, hyssop, mastic, lemon balm, and white sage. )

Scent similar to "Sugar" by Fresh?

This isn't that close in terms of ingredients, but it might have a similar citrusy-sweet-floral appeal: Lolita (Glittering heliotrope, honeysuckle, orange blossom and lemon verbena.)

Vanitas- If you like violets and don't mind non-fruity sweet scents, maybe Sybaris (violet, clove, tonka, incense) would work for you? I don't get a lot of incense, but the cloves and violet make the blend darker and heavier and offset the sweetness of the tonka somewhat. If scents were colors, it might be plum or deep amethyst. It's an interesting blend, and while I don't know enough about historical perfumery to associate it with a specific era, it seems to me like it would compliment quirky vintage stuff well. Plus, there's the ancient Mediterranean connection! Also, and possibly least relevant, I'm an INTP bookworm and I like it.

Maybe Bloodlust (A fiery Martial blend that embodies primal rage, lust for conquest, and all-encompassing desire. Dragon's blood essence, heavy red musk, Indonesian patchouli and swarthy vetiver with a drop of cinnamon) for Darth Maul, and Phobos (Twin to Deimos and child of War, Phobos is the embodiment of terror and mortal fear. Chilling white musk, lemon verbena, white grapefruit and lemongrass) or Death on a Pale Horse (The End of All Things: empty white musk and mint seeped with solemn lavender, doleful patchouli and vetiver, scythe-sharp yuzu and lime, with geranium bourbon, white sandalwood and calla lily) for a Ringwraith?

    Incensy Florals

I'm making up a wishlist for my second order, and I love the smell of incense and flowers (this is probably my inner hippie chick). Hymn and Sybaris were lovely on me, Athens was mostly honey, and something in Sheol did not work with my skin chemistry. Any recommendations for florals combined with incense blends, resins, sandalwood, and/or patchouli? Bonus points if the floral aspect doesn't focus on rose. (I like roses, but my shopping list has plenty of rose blends already and I want to branch out.) Apart from whatever it was that made Sheol go wrong, I don't know of any notes my skin hates, although I suspect it's ambivalent about heliotrope (Eclipse = fine, Lolita = a bit harsh until the dry-down, then lovely, Sheol = ick), and strong cinnamon makes my wrists turn bright pink.

Icarus Suraki- Maybe Schrodinger's Cat or How Doth The Little Crocodile if you like scents that are a bit foody without going into bakery territory? I'd call them both lighthearted scents, which might not go with your usual persona, but they didn't strike me as particularly feminine or sultry (Schrodinger's does have a bit of floral in it but it's mostly citrus), and they're both named after scientific or literary references.

    I want a "soapy" scent

Hymn is an incensey floral, but it reminds me more of Bee and Flower rose soap than actual roses.

More Avatar: the Last Airbender Earth Kingdom Edition! Locations Earth Kingdom itself Earth Phoenix (Hard work, patience, and harmony: Chinese musk, dark musk, and moist soil with black cherry, opoponax, night-blooming jasmine, plum, woodland tobacco, snakeweed, and cypress.) Kumari Kandam (Thick incense, clay, stone, and hothouse blooms with a spike of frost, a hint of decay, and heavy, dolorous aquatic notes.) Burial (The dark side of earth: deep, brooding forest scents, including juniper and patchouli. The scent of upturned cemetery loam mingling with floral offerings to the dead.) Ba Sing Se (the city of walls and secrets) Omen (Deep, mysterious, and full of dark portents: oakmoss, juniper berry, myrrh and patchouli.) Kyoshi Island (home of the Kyoshi Warriors and a giant sea serpent) Sunrise With Sea-Monsters (Ocean mist, kelp, ambergris, amber, white pear, osmanthus, freesia, and seafoam accord.) Jabberwocky (An earthy yet buoyant scent: pine, eucalyptus and orange.) Ogun (He is the lord of all mines and mineral wealth, and his energy is expressed in the transformation of sandstone into marble and carbon into diamonds. His control over transformation transcends this into the metaphorical: Ogun helps to shape the spirit, and hone it into something finer, and He compels us to look deep inside ourselves, searching for our true potential. He is physical might, ruler of the heart, giver of courage and sustainer of war, and is the bond that men fashion with one another during battle. Ogun is responsible for teaching mankind to fashion tools and weapons from iron... Ogun’s ofrenda is heavy and dark cigar tobacco, gin and juniper, melon, chili pepper and a touch of honey.) Avatar Kyoshi (the most recent Avatar from the Earth Kingdom, known for her kabuki makeup, war fans, fabulous headgear, and not putting up with any crap from anybody, ever. She also made an island.) Jingu (Known as Pimoko, the sun-daughter, Jingu was an Empress of Japan who served as regent and de facto ruler between the time of the death of her husband and the ascension of her son, Emperor Ojin. Sure that knowledge of her husband’s death would bring discord to her realm, she managed to keep his passing a secret, and successfully put down numerous insurrections in his name. Although she was pregnant with the future emperor of Japan, she donned armor and rode into battle, leading the conquest of Silla. Sakura, white orchid, mandarin, bamboo, red sandalwood, plum blossom, and lilac.) Verdandi (Necessity. Deep herbs and apple with black amber.) Suki (the teenage leader of the Kyoshi Warriors, a group of fan-and-katana wielding warrior women in Kabuki makeup) Kabuki (a luxuriant, exotic blend of cherry, red musk, and star anise.) Tomoe Gozen (A "warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or a god, mounted or on foot." Tomoe Gozen was a fierce, noble, and courageous samurai, first captain, as well as a renowned beauty... Red currant, golden amber, blackberry, honey, and pink pepper.) Bumi (The eccentric ruler of the city of Omashu: a 100+ year-old "mad genius" and one of the strongest Earthbenders in the world) Mad Hatter (A gentlemen's lavender-citron cologne unhinged by the feral pungence of black musk and a paroxysm of pennyroyal) layered with Dwarf (Iron filings and chips of stone, Styrian Golding hops, and soot-covered leather.) Jet (A charismatic teenage guerilla resistance leader who really hates the Fire Nation.) Highwayman (Stand and deliver! Vetiver with gardenia, blood red rose, night-blooming jasmine, a dash of cinnamon and a faint hint of leather.) The Mechanist (an eccentric steampunkish inventor.) Phoenix Steamworks (Burnished gold and oiled bronze notes with Abramelin incense and sage.) Teo (the Mechanist's teenage son, a talented glider pilot. He has cool hexagonal goggles.) Galvanic Goggles (Metallic notes with Indian musk, tobacco flower, and African balsam.)

    Lemon, Lemon, Lemony Goodness

At least on my skin, Lolita's a good lemon scent on the more candy-like end of the scale. I think the honeysuckle and orange blossom help sweeten it up, and I'm a big fan of lemon verbena in general.

Avatar: The Last Airbender The Fire Nation: The Fire Nation itself Inferno (The Dark Side of Fire: cinnamon, bitter almond, and neroli. Heavily spiced, torrid, and possibly conflagrant.) Aureus (True, perfect golden light, refined into an incomparably glorious scent. Cedar, amber, sandalwood, patchouli) The Sun Warriors (the current Fire Nation's cultural predecessors, have a vaguely Mesoamerican theme) Machu Picchu (Sweet tropical fruits burst through deep, wet rainforest boughs, enormous steamy blossoms, over thin mountaintop breezes, mingled with the soft, rich golden scent of Peruvian amber.) Xiutehcuhtli (Copal, plumeria and sweet orange and the smoke of South American incense and crushed jungle blooms.) The Royal Family: Fire Lord Sozin (originally wanted to share his country's prosperity by expanding its empire. Wound up plunging the world into a hundred years of war.) Ozymandias (Desolation. The remnants of an empire, shivering with forgotten glories, a monument to megalomania, sundered power, and colossal loss. Dry desert air, dry and hot, passing over crumbling stone megaliths and plundered golden monuments, bearing a hint of the incense of lost Gods on its winds.) Fire Lord Ozai (Firebending master. Would-be world conqueror. Lousy father.) The Bow and Crown of Conquest (Nobility and haughtiness befitting the Antichrist: sage, carnation and cedar with lavender, vanilla, white musk and leather.) Djinn (The scent of black smoke, of crackling flames, and smoldering ashes.) Iroh (An amiable old tea and board game enthusiast. Who can breathe fire.) The Apothecary (Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.) Nostrum Remedium (black tea leaf, wasabi extract, honey) Dragon's Hide (Flame-kissed, warm, smooth, and highly protective. Dragon’s blood, leather and a hint of smoke.) Ursa ("Zuko, please, my love, listen to me. Everything I've done, I've done to protect you.") The Little Wooden Doll (Gently carved wood warm with a maternal love that reaches beyond death: rose-infused amber and soft golden sandalwood.) Zuko (The exiled prince of the Fire Nation. Determined, dorky, temperamental, and kind of emo, although he has plenty to be legitimately upset about.) Dragon's Tears (Bittersweet yet powerful: salty aquatic notes and bursting with dragon's blood.) Azula (Zuko's brilliant, ruthless, dangerous younger sister.) Wrath (A scent aflame with rage, swirling in the red haze of hatred: dragon's blood spiked with black pepper, clove, and cinnamon.) Pride (Vanity in extremis. The scent of rabid hauteur: Moroccan rose and narcissus.) Lightning (The electric tang of ozone, marine notes, and a drop of sharp rain.) Ultraviolet (Electrifying, mechanized and chilly -- the scent of crushed blooms strewn on cold metal. Lush violet and neroli spiked hard with eucalyptus and a sliver of mint.) Mad Meg (Fire-scorched earth, black mandarin, cinnamon bark, bitter almond, sage, vetiver, and balsam of peru.) Other Fire Nation Citizens Avatar Roku (From the Fire Nation, but as the Avatar, capable of mastering all four elements. Also, he had a dragon.) Jezirat Al Tennyn (The Dragon’s Isle: smoke and fire, earth and wind. The rage of the elements blasting over a primordial paradise.) Mai (A quiet, apathetic, rather gothy teenage noblewoman, who happens to be a knife-throwing expert.) Dragon's Claw (Smooth, polished and lethally sharp: dragon’s blood resin and three sandalwoods) Dance of Death (A gloriously elegant portrayal of Lady Death: Dry, bone-white orris, black musk, serpentine patchouli and our murkiest myrrh.) Ty Lee (A friend of Mai and Azula, whose cheerful, girly personality provides a foil to Azula's ruthlessness and Mai's detachment. She's also a martial artist and former circus acrobat.) Lolita (Glittering heliotrope, honeysuckle, orange blossom and lemon verbena.) Muse (A light, invigorating floral and citrus blend. Tuberose, lotus and jasmine with a hint of lime.) Thalia (Good Cheer: Plumeria, pear and white champagne.) Piandao (A master swordsman who exemplifies the "cultured warrior" ideal.) Antony (The embodiment of Classic masculinity. A warrior's scent: the green hills and grasses of the battlefields, the resinous incense from the prayers to his Gods, and a touch of the musky leather of his armor. Ambergris and frankincense with sage, and basil.) Fighter (leather, musk, blood, and steel) Zhao (He wants to kill the moon.) Bloodlust (A fiery Martial blend that embodies primal rage, lust for conquest, and all-encompassing desire. Dragon's blood essence, heavy red musk, Indonesian patchouli and swarthy vetiver with a drop of cinnamon.)

I haven't seen the movie, but judging only by the visual vibe I get and your description, maybe Liz from the Hellboy collection? A light, feminine vanilla floral perfume and a swirl of smoke and leather. One of the reviewers described it as a femme fatale scent.

Virusq- You might want to try Anne Bonney (Named in honor of the most notorious female pirate to ever set sail. Wicked, cruel, beautiful, intelligent, resourceful and dangerous: a true role model. A blend of Indonesian red patchouli, red sandalwood, and frankincense) or Mary Read (Salt air, ocean mist, aged patchouli, sarsaparilla, watered-down rum, leather-tinged musk, and a spray of gunpowder), since you like pirates and cosplay and seem to have an interest in non-floral-based scents.

About me - I'm a big old geek. My particular areas of geeky interest are history, literature, and tabletop roleplaying gaming - I'm not really a tech person at all, despite spending too much time online. I majored in history in college, and am currently working part-time as a preschool aide and child-care worker. I love animals, and spent most of my childhood surrounded by pets. Sea creatures, corvids, and small rodents are some of my favorites. Most of my social life revolves around Dungeons and Dragons. If I were a D&D character I'd probably be a gnome alchemist or bard. I'm also an amateur writer (mostly fantasy) and do a lot of baking and herb gardening. Terry Pratchett is my favorite author. My public persona is gentle, polite, and rather quiet, but very quirky once you actually get me talking. I'm a divergent thinker with an active imagination and a rather odd sense of humor. In terms of personal style, I go for feminine but low-maintenance, with a slightly hippyish edge. Oddly enough, I tend to come across as more conservative than I am to some people who think long skirts + long hair + not showing much skin adds up to "member of conservative religious group" rather than "granola girl who gets cold easily." I'm a relative beginner to the perfume world, and open to exploring a wide range of scent types.

Foxon - Schrodinger's Cat, on me at least, was a combination of sweet/sharp/fresh and not bakery-ish, and there is a science association because of the name. It's also a good hot weather scent. Leafy Sea Dragon - Maybe Bewitched? I haven't tried it, but it seems to have foresty and herbal tea associations for a lot of people, and it doesn't sound very aggressive or sultry.

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

I get a juicy tropical fruit drink effect from Schrodinger's Cat and Shoggoth, oddly enough. The Cat is more limey-citrus and Shoggoth has some coconut undertones.

    Honey and Beeswax scents

Athens is strong sweet honey with fruity-aromatic notes on me. It reminded me a little of a more complex version of those flavor-infused honey straws.

Based on the video clip, I can see Ivy wearing Vixen. (A true heartbreaker’s perfume. The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli.)

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

Anyone else here fond of Avatar: The Last Airbender? I can see two approaches for Azula: something cool, strong, and electric (Ultraviolet, for example), to reflect her calculating nature and lightningbending abilities, or something more fiery(Chimera or Inferno?), for the formidable princess of the Fire Nation. Or maybe one of the warm fiery scents layered with a hint of Lightning? Mai, I see liking something elegant, dry, and possibly a little bit menacing. Maybe Dragon's Claw (Smooth, polished and lethally sharp: dragon’s blood resin and three sandalwoods), or Dance of Death (A gloriously elegant representation of Lady Death. Dry, bone-white orris, black musk, serpentine patchouli and our murkiest myrrh), particularly since she's both a knife fighter and a bit of a Fire Nation goth.
  20. I think oakmoss blends and the various mushroom scents (Death Cap, Destroying Angel, Grave Pig) might be good places to start, for the sort of smokey/earthy/slightly fungal qualities I associate with pu-erh. I haven't seen anything that looks like it would be a close match on its own, but layering might work if you're in a position to experiment.

    Prunella

I got this one as a frimp with my last order. I'm enjoying it, but it didn't smell a bit like I anticipated from the description - more like what I would expect from Bandersnatch (which I haven't tried yet). When I first put this on, I noticed a bit of the floral bitterness I got with Sheol, although not as strong and offset with more sweetness. I wasn't too happy. But fairly quickly, it morphs into something that's mostly spice, with an undertone of fruit, and a whiff of floral that came out more in the bit I swiped on my forearm than on my wrists. The spice + sweet red fruit blend sort of reminds me of potpourri, but less sweet, although my mother smelled honey and incense. I have no idea what could be causing this - maybe the wildflower blend includes lots of dianthus or wallflowers and I'm amping them?
  22. Shoggoth smells like coconutty floral fruit salad to me - nothing very heavy or sultry, despite the musk - and it might work well on a pre-teen who likes the idea of smelling like a space monster.

I really liked the herbal-floral aspect of this, but unfortunately with my chemistry the grape juice took over.

    Pine and Evergreen goodness

Any recommendations for sweet, not too heavy, evergreen blends? I've tried Tombstone and liked it, but on me the root beer overwhelmed the evergreen.

    Perversion

Got this as a freebie with my last order, and it's not really the kind of thing I'd choose for myself. In the bottle, I got a wine and honey effect that reminded me of Athens, although with more wine in relation to the honey, and a certain smokiness that Athens didn't have. After I put it on, the smokier qualities came to the forefront, along with some sweetness and a slight sharp, almost acrid quality. My dad thought it smelled like pipe tobacco. On the drydown, it's smoother and sweeter, but still smokey - maybe a honey-vanilla tobacco? I do pick up occasional hints of coconut or something like it, but it's not very strong.
