  1. Queen Mab and Asphodel didn't work on me, either. And Beatrice is one of my faves, so maybe this will work for you: IMHO the best GC floral is Midnight - I have 2 or 3 imps stashed in a shortie. It is a mildy spicy floral as opposed to gardenia-sweet or green. Midnight's description sounds a lot like Chiroptera, but I preferred Midnight.

    Litha 2006

I love Beth's honey scents and will wear Litha a lot, but I'm a little surprised. This is very lemony on my skin (maybe the liquid paypal?). After a while I do get some fermented honey and maybe some floral (carnation?). All in all, Litha will be in heavy rotation. It's a different twist on the honey theme, it's non-foody sweet, and its olfactory stickiness will work with hot humid summer days.

    Lotus Moon 2006

Thank you fellow forumite who enabled this purchase by reminding me that my beloved Bastet contains golden lotus. Lotus Moon smells nasty in the bottle, and there was an iffy moment where it seemed to be channeling hyssop, but LM eventually dries down to a perfumey blend with serious throw and an untertone of vanilla (my nose must be fooling around). This moon is sweet and aromatic and reminds me a bit of Stardust/Pink Phoenix/Beatrice. So glad I got a bottle. After wearing this off and on for a month I particularly enjoy the very last of the dry-down when the slightly bitter opium is apparent.

Satan And Death With Sin Intervening

Satan is so hot! Although I am ass-deep in the Lab's tea blends, this is the pearl of the collection. Satan (or maybe it's the Sin) strikes a perfect balance between the tea tartness, the vetiver depth, and the incense/floral "perfuminess" that make something a wearable as opposed to a room scent/lotion. Definitely worth the gamble and the extra $$.

    Lex Talionis

The cardamom, vetiver & patchouli in Lex Talonis make it "Spanked Light (Fanny Pat?)" for me and hence a great favorite.

    Harvest Moon 2005

I wore Harvest Moon a lot last fall: the floral and spice worked with the apples well enough to make this a perfume as opposed to a room scent. The scent is layered: the apple/floral has most of the throw with powdery spice close to the skin. This is one of my lunar faves.

    Despair

Despair is mostly fresh appleliscious chamomile and very soothing. On drydown, there is a bit of wood; the rose behaves. Good as a calming sleepytime scent (I prefer it to Sleepy Moon), not my thing as a perfume.

    Kunstkammer

I expected a more complex experience from Kunstkammer, but I basically got Creamsicle. Yes, a good summertime smell but fruity scents are not my favorites.

    Baneberry

Baneberry is a sweet fruity scent with a little bit of "skin" undertone. It does not have a lot of throw. It's nice but does not particularly rock my world.]

    Viola

Gentle tea rose, lilac, Calla Lily, and Somalian Rose layered over golden Peruvian amber, Spanish moss, red sandalwood, rosewood, and myrrh, with the lightest touch of Mandarin. Viola is very strong rose on me. I like rose, but associate the scent with bath products as opposed to perfume. This one is just not my type.

Allergy Questions, Allergies and other reactions to oils

Compare the cost of placing your scent locket on a stick pin (to be pinned away from your face) to the cost of purchasing the solid perfume/acohol perfume supplies?

    Dorian

No lemon or tea in my imp. The Dorian I have is mostly pale musk and vanilla and maybe a little fougere. The overall effect is light and powdery. Glad I got to try it, but don't need a big bottle.

    Peitho

Jasmine in studded Doc Martens stomping over everything else. Peitho is almost indistinguishable from Ligeia to my nose. They both have the toasted grain undertone but are heavy heavy jasmine.

    Pumpkin Patch V (2005, 2006)

Pumpkin Patch 5 is the driest and woodiest of the group. Bone dry with a little rooty spice: love it!!

    Djinn

Not that I need another to love, but Djinn is fantastic. It is warm, pungent, and spicy. Definitely worth hunting down more imps.

    Roadhouse

Roadhouse makes me happy. Its weedy sappy little voice reminds me of how much fun it is to work in my garden and deadhead my flowers. This is so perfect for the summer - if I had a choice of riding "House" or wearing this it would be a no-brainer. I will buy these imps some real estate and move them into a 2ml and even carry them across the threshold.

    The Ghost

A thin, sinuous, creeping chill, the scent of glee-filled undeath: white iris, osmanthus, Calla lily, tomb-crawling ivy and a coffin spray of gladiolus, lisianthus and delphinium. I would have guessed The Ghost contained violet and lavender, but after seeing the description, my predominant impression is purple bearded iris. The Ghost has a surprising amount of throw, and seems chilly and dark. It reminds me a bit of Numb and is a meh for me.

    Verdandi

Verdandi seems like the love child of Ides of March and Harvest Moon. It is predominantly herbal rather than apple on me. I like Verdandi, but it is so similar to my other scents.

    Tweedledum

Tweedledum and Tweedledee Began to fight and grapple Said Tweedledee To Tweedledum You smell a lot like Snapple. Tweedledum is fun-silly fruity. It won't be a staple, but it's nice to have around.
  20. themerrybaker

    Tweedledee

From the description, Tweedledee reminded me a little of Kunstkammer, but I like Tweedle a lot better. The tea keeps the fruitiness from becoming cloying or syrupy. This is a fun weekend scent.

    Blood Pearl

I must be getting major orris from Blood Pearl, because it is not musky and I detect no coconut. This is a dry, dark, scent on me. I like it but don't love it.

    Dragon Moon 2006

I was leery of purchasing Dragon Moon because dragon's blood is not one of my favorite notes. I was happy to discover that Dragon Moon is mostly tea, and a little darker and less puckery than Holiday Moon. Since I like tea scents, this is likely to get some wear.

    Lady MacBeth

Lady MacBeth is way fruity-sweet for my tastes. This is type of scent that makes me leery of wine blends (Madrid was another). Lady M needs to find herself another castle.

    March Hare

March Hare is a pretty simple blend. It is fun to sniff and nice to wear, but an imp is enough because I don't think I'd want to smell like an apricot every day. The Hare is a spicy apricot, as opposed to a woody apricot like Yerevan.

    The Masque

The Masque is very sweet, powdery, heavy, and humid on me. It's well blended with recognizable honey but no one note predominating. Masque doesn't seem to have a lot of throw and will probably be better in cooler weather. I think the description of sweaty revelry is apt.
