I Loved You at First: But Afterwards Your Love

On my skin wet: Tobacco and roses a hint of jasmine in the back. It's alright so far but not wowing me yet. The tobacco & rose combination reminds me a bit of Ghosts in Love. On my skin dry: This doesn't morph a lot it's still mainly tobacco but the jasmine has amped and overpowers the rose. Not for me.

    Our Lady of Pain

Sharp lavender and cologne. The patchouli shows up after a while but only makes the blend extra dry. Unfortunately it stays that way on my skin, harsh patchouli and lavender which when sniffed make my throat ache. Something in the background smells like liquorice. I wish I got the sultry scent others are getting out of this but this blend never comes together on my skin. I'll keep the decant maybe one day that sultry scent will turn up. If you like this you might also like Love and Pain which I find practically a double of OLOP. Our Lady Of Pain ends up too masculine for me and that's coming from someone who wears Saint-Germain frequently.

    Voyeuristic Monkey

Oh yes definitely a dirty monkey. I get cumin, patchouli, saffron and myrrh. Animalistic and slightly gritty. Sticks around for a long time. I wish it was just a bit sweeter but it’s perfect for it’s name. I agree with imaginepageant that it has the same feel as Banshee Beat.

    Secret Lovers and Sleeping Husband

Oh gods, mothballs! Really? On my skin dry: Can I scrub it off yet? Still mothballs but with a bit of rose behind it. I'm completely stunned by how this smells on my skin.

    Antique

Well this smells antique as in polished antique wooden dresser. It softens up after a while but the polish is still around. I'm really wishing I didn't own a furniture polish that smells just like this. The soft wood notes in Antique remind me of Whose List to Hunt.

Lips Full of Lust and Laughter

In the vial: Really old, dried honey. On my skin wet: Raisins and red musk. On my skin dry: Still raisins and red musk. Verdict: Not for me.

    Sic Erit

Slender arrows lodged in my heart: red amber, benzoin, red musk, bourbon geranium, oak bark, Atlas cedar, and 13-year aged Sumatran patchouli. In the vial: Red musk, herbs and menthol. Yikes. On my skin wet: Eep still mentholly red musk but with patchouli. Not really an improvement. On my skin dry: Listerine and red musk. The geranium is trying to get through. I should have known that the oak was going to do the mouthwash impression it always does on me.

    Eldrich Dark Bath Oil

You got all of the leather, I got all of the rose. I managed to trade for a tester of this. This is soft rose and honey musk on my skin if there is leather in this it's very faint. This smells polished, smooth and slightly old-fashioned.
  9. One of my favorite summer scents is Berenice. She's cool and not too overpowering.

    XNIA2

I like how everyone gets something else out of this blend. Wet on my skin I get the lab's stone note and anise. It dries down to a pleasant woodsy wet stone scent, it reminds me of the base notes of Tiki King.

    The Old Lady Scents

I may just have to try that one.

    Heroine

Nepalese amber, East African patchouli, dark musk, apple blossom, petitgrain, aged leather, skin musk, and rhubarb. In the imp: Eau de Cologne and by that I mean the “Water of Cologne” which is made up of almost all citrus notes. On my skin: Still Eau de Cologne, high pitched and greenish. Where is the patch? Hmm the petitgrain warms the blend a bit when it dries. On my skin dry: Still no patchouli or leather in sight, it's pretty much petitgrain and a bit of amber on my skin. A nice scent for warm days.
  13. Lots of sugary vanilla and sassafras whee! There is a hint of something medicinal in the background though, like Listerine? Okay the Listerine fades when it dries down. The sassafras is a bit sharper than it was when I had just applied it. I'm really liking the vanilla in this. When it's fully dry it's a foody vanilla and sassafras blend. Nice!

    Phantom

Testing an aged imp of Phantom. Myrrh, soft rose and ylang ylang. Very pretty and comfy, slightly powdery dry-down. Aging definitely helps the blend come together, I might get a bottle but I don't know if I can wait until it ages into this gorgeousness.
  15. You might want to try other rose scents like Libertine (-Rosewood and chamomile with bergamot, violet, red sandalwood, primrose and Arabian musk.) and Phantom (-Myrrh, dark musk, attar of rose and ylang ylang.).
  16. Yes, Ceanothus Silkmoth smells just like Lust/Flying Fox. Notes are: Blood orange, night-blooming jasmine, vanilla bean, bog wood, Spanish moss, benzoin, and oudh. Iole is close too btw, notes are: fig, night-blooming jasmine, red sandalwood, bourbon vanilla, oak bark, leather accord, and black amber. *edit* added notes

    Thieves' Rosin

This smells...dangerous. On my skin wet: Smells sharp, woodsy and a bit of leather. I don't really get rosin out of this, it's woodsy but it's also very perfumey. On my skin dry: The sharpness has toned down but it stays pretty much the same. It settles on an unisex perfumey almost-leather. Lots of throw.

What BPAL would this fictional character wear?

Possibly something slinky like Bastet. *edit* Forgot the notes: Luxuriant amber, warm Egyptian musk, fierce saffron and soft myrrh, almond, cardamom and golden lotus.
  19. Wow, tobacco flower is the first thing that I smell. Light and perfumey, it reminds me of Black Lace but also of the Lady on the Grey which was all tobacco flower on my skin. After a while I get a powdery sweet sandalwood note. When it's fully dry the powdery woods take over the scent. I like how this morphs from sharp smoky tobacco flower to warm sweet woods but it fades quickly on my skin. I looked up castoreum turns out it's obtained from a gland from the business end of a beaver. *eyetwitch*

    The Gentleman

This is one of those scents where there isn't a note too much or too little. The musk is soft and a bit powdery, the tobacco has just the right amount of smokiness, the lilac and rosemary give the blend sophistication and the lime rind lifts it all up. Ingenious!

Recommend the most herbal scents, please

Arcana -Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, neroli, and lemon verbena, is agreeably herbal. Or Santa Eulària Des Riu -Piquant citrus tempered by jasmine, soft Mediterranean herbs, lavender and orange blossom.

    Yorick

On my skin wet: Freshly dug up beets! Get your fresh beets here! Wait it morphed into mildew. Drying: There is a very faint something underneath the dirt. I can't make out if it's a floral or a cologne the dirt is overpowering everything else. Dry: Still dirt. Just dirt and nothing else.

    Spider

Whoa bergamot & aftershave? Very nice! Must be the nutmeg and artemisia combo that is making this blend smell masculine. This one definitely takes you on an olfactory ride, it's slightly bitter but aromatic. When it dries down the bergamot amps and it gets seriously sexy. Fully dry it's cologne with heady bergamot and some dustiness from the artemisia.

    The Two-Headed Goat

Ooh very pretty in the vial! On my skin I get petitgrain (which smells a bit like bergamot to me), moss, a bit of birch and soft black musk. This feels old-timey in a good way. I do think this is a unisex scent. Two-Headed Goat doesn't stick around all day but I like it a lot! Might pick up a bottle if this returns when the Carnaval Diabolique comes back.

    The Lady On The Grey

I was lucky enough to swap for a decant of the Lady. On my skin wet: Tobacco flower! This is a bit more aquatic than I had anticipated. On my skin dry: Faint tobacco flower, overall it's a very airy scent almost like there is ozone in here. I'm not smelling much of the other notes at all. Unfortunately this ends up rather faint on my skin.
