  1. Hi, all. Can anyone identify what the common note or notes are between Tiresias the Androgyne and Knave of Hearts?? It’s been tickling my brain for a while, so I thought I’d finally ask! There’s some kind of what I can only describe as a “dark” note that figures prominently in both of them. I’d love to figure out what that is so I can look for more things that have it!

     Thanks.

  2. I ordered an imp of this from the lab on a whim -- and I'm oh SO glad that I did! This is a new surprise favorite for me. I have no idea why, but something about this reminds me of Tiresias (Carnivale Diabolique) -- something dark and spicy and lovely. I wish I knew what the common note(s) might be, because I'd stock up on other BPALs with them! I will definitely be adding this to my 'swap for more right away!!' pile. :P

  3. Interesting... In the bottle, it smells very crisp and butterscotchy-appley. On (wet), the same, with a whole symphony of fruity/carmely flavors.

On drydown, however, about an hour later, it smells remarkably (and very surprisingly) like Hearth. I like it, very much. But I'm going to have to compare it with Hearth because on me at least there seems to be very little difference. Fortunately, I love Hearth, too. :P

  4. I really, really love this blend! :P The apple fades on me a bit sooner than I'd like, so I'm planning to "boost" it a bit with some green apple that I got Somewhere Else (blush), but I think I definitely need another bottle.

This and the cocoa one are my favorites so far of the Pumpkin Patch ones. Wonderful! :D

  5. It smells exactly like Sugar Skull 2005 on me, too. I'm actually pretty glad I didn't buy a bottle, as while the Sugar Skull is nice, it's not really 'me'. Well, at least I know not to rush and buy a bottle of this, as it's not for me, either.

ACK! I cannot tell the difference between Sugar Skull and Trick or Treat! I got home after a long day, ripped open my package, and slathered both on. Now, well, my wrists smell the same! Both smell like maple syrup. My husband seems to like the effect, although for the life of me I don't know which one he's responding to. Maybe both.

Is there a big difference in the drydown? If so, I don't smell it. I know that Trick or Treat smelled sort of weird and vegetable-y in the bottle, but on it was just sugary. Burnt sugar, actually. Burnt sugar with maple syrup. Oddly enough, I like it.

This could be Sugar Skull, of course. I have no idea. Must find Inner Control Button when opening new BPAL packages.

  6. When I first apply, Vice on me is thickly, smotheringly sweet chocolate and fruit, primarily orange. In fact, it strongly reminds me of those orange-cordial chocolates that come in Whitman's Samplers.

As it dries, the overpowering quality of it fades, and it becomes a long-lasting (all day, all night) sweet, dark, chocolate-orangey delight.

    I had to order a 5ML. :P

  7. Oh, now this is simply... perfect. Lovely. :D I'm deliriously happy that I found someone to share some of this with me (having missed the update) -- my life would have been incomplete if I hadn't gotten to try this. :D

It's too soon for final impressions, but after 15 minutes, I am surrounded by a warm cloud redolent of sun-warmed apples and crisp leaves, spices and lingering days of Fall... I couldn't have asked for a more perfect Fall scent. And, thank goodness, it agrees with my chemistry.

This is amazing. It's 'Milk-Moon-Good', which from me is saying something. :D I have GOT to find more of this!! :P

  8. Wow, it's amazing to me how BPAL scents change the way they smell on my skin throughout the month. (It's doubly amazing to me since I had a hysterectomy when I was 13, so I don't get periods...)

I've loved O since the first time I tried it. Normally it smells like deep amber with honey and vanilla: sweet, heavy, innocent.

Not today. Today it smells like sex. Good, fulfilling, not-too-dirty/not-too-clean sex; kind of like a fantasy that's not TOO too wild. Where did the innocence go? LOL

I love it both ways... but I wonder if it smells to OTHER people the same way it smells on me, from day to day... Will everyone else think I smell like sex?? ::snort/laugh::

  9. ::disappointed:: I really, really wanted to love this one, but on me it had the same effect that Depraved did, and turned instantly to dirty diaper. ::cries::

The weirdest thing is that I didn't get ANY rose, ANY jasmine, or ANY coffeebean -- just -- diaper.

  10. I am very, very saddened to report that this did not work at all on me. :P I got a decanted imp in swap today, and I was so looking forward to it - but on me it immediately became the cloying scent of cheap artificially-flavored strawberry chewing gum, like from back in the 70's when I was a child. My skin apparently has something in it that hates ylang-ylang, because it smelled just DIVINE in the bottle... The fault lies with my chemistry, I'm sure, not with the blend.

So far, Milk and Honey Moons are the only lunars that have smelled good on me. I have high hopes for Harvest Moon 2005 (if I find some) and for Blood Moon, which I just ordered -- hopefully they will agree with me! If not, I'll stick with my "old" favorites, lol.

  11. The Four Hundred divine rabbits of the Aztec pantheon that preside over parties and drunkenness. Bittersweet Mexican cocoa with rum, red wine, and a scent redolent of sacrificial blood.

Hm... I don't know which note in this stuff is the one that's so clingy, but this stuff lasts on me like no other scent has! Fortuantely I really love it, lol, because I put it on yesterday morning and it's still on me -- I can faintly smell it even after my shower.

I wonder if it's the 'scent redolent of sacrifices' -- and what that is, exactly? :P

  12. I love this stuff! :D :D I wear it whenever I need a little boost, or whenever I want to thank the Universe for her blessings to me and mine. I also spritz a little of it on when I need to request a favor of her. I sprayed some on Brian as he was on his way out the door to a job interview a few weeks ago -- and he was offered the job on the spot. Seriously. I'm not saying the ACJM made it so -- but it put him in the right frame of mind to seriously kick some ass at the interview, and that made all the difference. :D

Needless to say, I'll be wearing it to all of MY job interviews - hopefully some will be this week. :P Wish me luck!

I've been using the imp I got as a swap for the last few weeks -- fortunately I ordered a bottle with my last Lab order also, because I just cannot get enough of it. :D

  13. Oh, amazing. Wonderment. Joy and raptures. Can you tell I liked it?

I tried Midway through a decanted imp that I got today - I've been wearing it layered with Shill -- HEAVEN!! :P

I can tell it's not going to last me until my lab order comes through, so I'm also going to be looking for more, AS WELL as posting an additional lab order for more of both. ::giggle:: Addict, yes!

Wearing Midway, I can just close my eyes and drift away on a wave of nostalgia and fantasy -- I find myself on the scene of 'Something Wicked This Way Comes', with the slightly uneasy feeling that carnivals always give me, layered beneath the joy and delight. Spectacular. :D

  14. I tried Shill for the first time today, as someone was kind enough to decant me an imp from their bottle to hold me over until the lab order I placed last month arrives.

It's not going to last long enough. :P

This scent is, to me, the ultimate delicious foody happy scent. I can't stop sniffing it and smiling -- if it were possible for me to eat my own wrist, it would be gone by now.

I've also tried it WITH the midway decant the same person sent me -- and I didn't know it could get better, but it does. Together, the two are HEAVEN.

Note: I'm now eagerly seeking anyone who wants to part with their bottles that didn't agree with them -- I'm making a second lab order this week for yet MORE Midway and Shill, but the imps I have are not going to last, and I must have more! Please!! :D

  15. I really, really WISH this had smelled like apricots on me. I adore apricots. Instead, it smelled -- well, really awful. I don't want to tell you the thought that actually came to mind. I'll say 'dirty diapers' instead, but it was actually something much more, well, 'depraved' than that.

I'm very disappointed. Then again, patchouli has NEVER agreed with me. Normally, however, it takes on a smell like dirt or earth -- not the scent of an act that is illegal in some states. ::snort::

I've got it for swap in imp form, if anyone who is GOOD with patchouli would like to try.

  16. Hi, all. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a fragrance that has a dominant coffee note with either nuts or chocolate (or both) as other notes...? I've heard Miskatonic U is a coffee scent, and I've an imp on the way of that, but wondered if there were others...?

    Thanks!

  17. Another scent that did something COMPLETELY unexpected on my skin... But not a bad something, just unexpected. On me, Gluttony becomes the very essence of a sweet semi-bitter chocolate incense. It doesn't smell like dessert, or any other kind of food on me -- it smells like specifically *incense*... of a bitter chocolate/spicy type. VERY pleasant, but I'm a little sad that it doesn't smell like a tasty treat. Ah, well. Still very good. :P

  18. As something of a Lovecraft aficionado (and an inveterate LARPer), here is the way we were taught to pronounce some of those:

    R'lyeh -- RELL-yeh

Nyarlathotep -- ny-ar- (like the english 'are') LA (do-re-mi-la)-thuh-tep

:P Now just try yelling 'Ia! Ia! Cthulhu fhtagn!' over and over... rofl.

    Angelle

Hmm. I'm probably completely wrong here! (but then, I still say 'samhain' as 'samhain'!)

R'lyeh - 'ruh-lie-eh' (with a bit of a gap between the ruh and the lie)

Nyarlathotep - 'nuh-yar-le-toe-tepp' (only kind of slur the nuh and the yar together)

It probably doesn't help that most CoC games I've played have never once used the *names* of any of the beasties we meet... or where they live!
