  1. I'm bumping this thread, not just because we're close to Valentine's Day, but because I absolutely have to have THIS:

There's always White Chocolate and Sugared Violets, which was a 2009 Lupercalia scent....

OMG, white chocolate and sugared violets? No kidding, I have to have this - what else smells like this? I'm guessing it's gone, since it sounds like a LE?

    Thanks!

Actually, The Last Unicorn smells a lot like it. Which sort of makes sense as the notes to The Last Unicorn are Frosty lilac petals, iris pallida root, orris, violet leaf, white chocolate, coconut, wild lettuce, white sandalwood, and oakmoss.

*EDIT* And yes, like I said in that quoted post from a year ago, White Chocolate and Sugared Violets was a Lupercalia LE from 2009. But you might be able to find it in the sale/swap sections here on the forum, and The Last Unicorn is available now at least....

  2. Can one ask for recommendations based off of basic memory scents?

If so I'm looking as a "noobie" for such scents that may have or be reminded of:

    -Fresh mowed green grass

    -Damp basement/humidifier

    -Carmex lip balm

    -Juicy Fruit gum

    -Lilac

    -Leather

Not all mixed together, mind you. But any of those scents that appear similar in BPAL fragrances.

I'd definitely recommend Dragon's Eye for lilac.

  3. I really love Greed and feel that the oakmoss is noticeable in it. :)

I also really like Ronin, I think that might be a somewhat hard to find LE though....

*EDIT* It seems like oakmoss is unexpectedly in some other scents that I really like, such as Crowley, Les Infortunes de la Vertue, The Last Unicorn (well, okay, I knew that had oakmoss, but the note doesn't seem prominent to me in the blend), and Salome. Lemme see if this link works....

  4. You might like Urd: Muscadine, black and red patchouli, cereus and nag champa. I thought about Baghdad or L'Examen de Minuit for you, but both of them have at least one note that you may not like. You still may want to check them out/read their reviews though. :)

As for campfire type stuff for your roommate, maybe Djinn: The scent of black smoke, of crackling flames, and smoldering ashes.

  5. Aww, you guys are awesome, thanks! This is a good head start - I'm going to go check out the threads on those now. Smooches! :wub2:

Editing already! So here's what I'm going for - I just decided to go full on chocolate in this next imp order, but I've only got five...

    Intrigue

    Gluttony

    Bliss

    Vice

    Velvet

Now that's five, but I'm short one if I want to do a six imp set. I want to stay away from LE (I hate falling in love with something, only to have it gone in a short while), and I want to stay away from anything that can't be imped. Any thoughts for a sixth? If there's nothing really out there that fall into my parameters, I'll just go for an imp of Alice to keep in my makeup bag.

    Thanks again!

How Doth the Little Crocodile was mentioned previously, and I also think it's a good candidate. The cedar and oakmoss make it not entirely foody, but it's definitely chocolatey and interesting. I wish it worked for me, but I amp cedar, so it doesn't. :(

  6. I just got a frimp of "Kitchen", which is incredibly foody (yum) - where can I find a review?

I received such a frimp as well in a decant circle package, but it also says "Solstice Scents LE 2012" on the label so I'm guessing it's from that e-tailer rather than from BPAL. :)

  7. Vetiver and I are not friends either. I think the only scent with vetiver that I like is A Golden Idol from the 2010 Yules, which is antiqued amber, English lavender, vetiver, and tea rose. It's actually kind of headshoppy on me, which is probably why I like it. Most of the reviews say it's strong on vetiver, though.

  8. Can anyone reccomend a very sweet strawberry scent (artificial strawberry) I have Smackers Strawberry lotion at home that is awesome. Maybe even a BPAL that smelt like Troll hair (from the 80's 90's) that fake strawberry smell?

I have Strawberry Moon 2012 that I love but thats more of a real strawberry and I need a fake one :)

Kitty from the BPTP Courtesans was very artificial-strawberry-smelling to me....

  9. I haven't tried any of the Salons yet, nor have I bought any bottles of BPAL at all yet, but apparently there's no time like the present as far as that's concerned. I absolutely must try The Arrival at the Sabbath and Homage to the Devil, but I think I can only afford one more. I'm hemming and hawing endlessly over whether to get Lucretia or Judith Victorious.

Prettymuch exactly what you said (EDIT: well, I've made BPAL orders before, I'm referring to what Salon blends I'm interested in)! Great minds think alike?

Well, Lucretia has arrived in the mail, and sadly, she is not a must-have for me. Hopefully she will find a good home with someone else! Not sure whether I feel like taking another gamble before the Salon exhibition closes....

  11.

the last is Azzemour by Crabtree and Evelyn. violet, bergamot and tangerine at the onset warmed by sandalwood, moss, amber and musk with some romantic florals to center it such as freesia, gardenia and Moroccan rose touched with clove. *note* please no suggestions that are heavy on the rose or violet - neither like me in oil form.

Perhaps a long shot, but maybe Pallas Athene for the last one? Notes are listed as "Antiqued amber, cumin, saffron, frankincense, Atlas cedar, myrrh, mandarin, Ceylon cinnamon bark, and osmanthus."

  12. i have a potentially dumb question:

i had a post order and there was a brief note in it that 2 of the items were backordered. :( so...am i still getting those items when they arrive? will i get an email notification or another CnS when they are ready? do i need to do anything to follow up with puddin & crew to make sure everything is handled correctly?

    i haz a confuze.

This happened to me before (last October) with a Trading Post order (well, it was only one item that was backordered, but that shouldn't make a difference), and the item that was backordered was mailed to me a week or so later, with no additional communication from the Post or from me (as in, I didn't contact them about it, and I didn't receive a second shipping notice or anything). It would probably still be okay to contact them, but I just wanted to share my experience.

  13. Decided that it would be appropriate to try out one of my Luper decants today and picked My Sweetest Lesbia, but it's not liking me all that well. When I get home from work I'll probably put on Cthulhu in Love since it's appropriate for the holiday, I know I like it, and I also like wearing slightly foody stuff to work out at the gym.
