    A Thought from Propertius

Sweet honey, white apricot, and a touch of cayenne pepper. Maybe it's my skin chemistry but on me this is identical to Pandy, just minus the white musk. I really liked Pandy, but my least favorite part was the white musk, so I'm happy to keep my decant

Feed Me and Fill Me With Pleasure

On me, patchouli is hit or miss, yet somehow my instincts guided me to purchase Feed me and Fill me with Pleasure as my only lupercalia 2013 choice unsniffed, despite other selections having notes that are normally way more to my liking. I am SO glad that I ordered this perfume!! I want to give it a proper review because it deserves attention. It is simple and beautiful. In the bottle it is straight-up patchouli. To me it brought back a scent memory of of my mother's close friend who is a wholesome, beautiful, earth mother type who rides horses, grows vegetables and makes soap. Her soaps smell this way. If this were a tarot card, it would be the Empress. On skin: This is not so much a perfume as a subtle, glowing warmth. It is golden, warm and one of those "my skin but better scents" the drydown: A soft, woody patchouli, warmed with gentle amber. I'm getting no vanilla or honey, this does not remind me of "O" because it is much more woodsy. This is like the sun glinting through trees on a warm day. I wore this to Ithaca, NY on a romantic getaway with my love. To me, this perfume IS Ithaca- educated, gentle, green-minded. It's a hippie goddess. It evokes coffee shops, vegan potlucks and outdoor excursions. It was a subtle, warm choice for a cold winter day in upstate new york. My boo likes it too. My only complaint is that it could be a little more louder. I like this enough to want a bigger throw! So, I say 9.5 out of 10. This is very well done. I ran out to get a backup bottle.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I agree that feed me and fill me with pleasure is awesome, and if you like patchouli, you should probably try it. I love mine, it's very cosy. I recently ordered a bottle of crow moon 2013, and I LOVED LOVED LOVED it! Can anyone recommend something for me that is similar to this in the GC? thank you
  4. I generally wear strong, punch-you-in-the-nose florals, but I'm looking for some more sweet, candy-sugar florals for the valentine's day. Something girly but still maybe a little sexy and not just all candy shop. Loud is ok! Amber and vanilla are good too. I would like something in between my potent flowers, and just all vanilla/candy/sugar. Something like if you mixed Delight and Dragon's Milk together (but the actual mix of those things doesn't seem to work on me). I recently ordered l'essence de l'engouement from BPTP and am hoping that it has some of that mixture. Any other suggestions for candy-sweet florals/ light springtime florals with fruit? I like Jasmine, Tuberose, Plumeria/Frangipani, Lotus and sometimes orange blossom and rose. I generally don't like patchouli or anything too masculine or woody- my skin has a tendency to make a lot of fragrances go dry. Basically- I like all the other florals that most people hate. that's ok- more for me

Valentine's day theme- flowers and candy

OMG, white chocolate and sugared violets? No kidding, I have to have this - what else smells like this? I'm guessing it's gone, since it sounds like a LE? Thanks! There was a 2012 Yule called the governess- white musk, violet and vanilla were in the notes, this might be up your alley? I think they're gone now but you might be able to find some on the sales or swap pages...

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

As for me. . . . a special ed teacher who is currently a stay-at-home mom. I'm fighting the fact that finances will require me to go back to work in the fall and I'll also have to take classes to keep my teaching license. I'd rather focus on my family and friends. Active in music at my church & enjoy a monthly music & mead group at a local meadery. Love to sing, read, walk in the woods, swim, camp . . . love scifi & fantasy wear a lot of blue jeans & T's but enjoy funky & colorful when I have a chance to dress up. Love cooking (& eating) currently short hair but I cycle thru long & short over the years. It used to be blonde, then dark blonde, and just recently turned all the way brown (with little bits of gray) Blue eyes. Love to relax & laugh whenever I can.although since becoming a mother there's a lot less time for relaxing (and even less in the fall . . .) A Taurus. For you, LisaNut, I'm getting an "Elf" vibe

I would agree with Whip for stella. as far as anais anais have you tried juliet or leanan sidhe? my mother used to wear this and while I can't remember exactly what it smells like, i believe it is in the same fragrance family... happy hunting

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I'm looking at a morpher perfume for you since you seem to defy categorization. This is a good thing Dee, Machu Picchu, Eat Me and possibly Juliet are speaking to me for you. As far as limited editions- maybe Loi Krathong?

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

I am reposting this because my personality sort of changed after people did this for me the first time back in like 2010. Then the second time, I was skipped- just curious for opinions. I forgot to add that I do have a fiery streak. It's quite calmed now, but it's there. thanks Ella LaRose- fairy market is screaming at me to you. If you can find it. Good luck!

    Sandalwood Scents

Jezebel! I agree that this is nearly entirely sandalwood, at least on my skin. it's a rich, spicy, every so slightly honeyed sandalwood. Dreamy.

Limited editions equivalents in the general catalog?

I haven't tried snow glass apples but I know verdandi has a nice deep appley note, and the herbs give it a cooler feeling. It's not snow exactly but maybe worth a try. Does anyone know of a gc blend that is like mictecacihuatl? That may be my all time favorite- I wish they'd make it permanent!

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Also- Espoir, I've been also looking for something that combines floral with more mossy or woody or amber undertones in the gc for a while now. I have not tried the annick goutal but it sounds up my alley. Delight is one of my favorites ever and contains the florals. But personally as a jasmine and resin lover I haven't found a satisfactory combo. You might also try peitho, antheia, and parthenope. Lady Amalthea might also be worth a shot. Or if you can find some pannychis

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

That's so weird- I like morocco in the bottle but it vanishes on me. Disappearing act- where did it go? Kenzo amour I notice more florals and woods where morocco seems to be musky. Isn't chemistry bizarre?

Can anyone recommend something similar to kenzo amour?

    Sweet lemony floral?

I second Pandy, also check out Venice. And as far as LE scents, Rosy Maple is nice. Absinthe is not floral exactly but it's a sweet citrus. Good luck Oh, and for plum- I think that kitsune-tsuki is superb or if you can find weeping branches moon Also- Prunella is a bit strong but it's very girly.

    Mictecacihuatl

Copal, precious woods, South American spices, agave nectar, cigar tobacco, and roses. 2011 version: What can I say- I LOVE this! It's not an intense, fiery, passionate love but rather a deep, abiding, gentle love that is sensual rather than overtly sexual. Other reviewers have said woody, aquatic, floral- but on me the soft resins are coming out. No rose at all, but has a vaguely floral component. it stays pretty true after hours of wear. It has some throw initially but lingers closer later on. I can agree with those that say it has elements of dia de los muertos, but it is more muted and doesn't have the whiffs of cocoa. It provides an image for me of death- as a comforting sleep. My skin seems to love it. I may have to hunt down another bottle of this.

    Ghost House

this one oddly didn't work because it fit the description. I wasn't sure what to expect exactly but it's supposed to be berry, moss and woods- and it's berry, moss, and woods. It has a prettiness to it, smells natural and wild. But it reminds me of doing yardwork or something.

    Third Charm

I received my bottle in the mail today! Third Charm is lovely and deserves my full attention for this review. First I want to discuss comparisons: I am very curious to see how this ages. I can agree with boomtownrat that this strikes a note that is similar to blossoms in springtime. However, snake oil and blossoms in springtime were not winners on me and this one is. So, if you don't like snake oil, don't rule this one out. On me, third charm is the most similar to Dragon's Heart- which is a very good thing, I have always loved Dragon's Heart and get compliments sometimes when I wear it. The shared note is red musk- it must be predominant. So, this is complex but a few notes stick out, mainly the red musk and honey. It doesn't seem to change much for me from the initial application to the drydown, and it hasn't faded much in the past hour or two. The patchouli remains in the background, providing an earthy feel, while the florals whisper just faintly. I think this is one that people might be reminded of "hippie store" a little but in a good way. I think this will work really well for fall and winter. I'm keeping this bottle Update- it's turned kinda sour. Maybe it's the cedar, I'm getting that "hamster cage" woodiness. ugh. swaps!

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Samhain! Weirdly, all of a sudden it's working for me. I have 2007 I believe. It's all dark spices, apple, woods and no pumpkin sad to say on me. It reminds me of a creepy orchard.
