    Harvest Moon 2013

Pretty, soft. It keeps flirting with being powdery but on me it never quite gets there. Though simple, the leaf note is evocative of autumn, the interplay brethren that and soft rose makes it seem more complex than just the 2 notes.

    Sylvia

Sylvia is in the process of breaking my heart. I wasn't sure what to expect from this one, but I love Voodoo and guessed it might be along the same lines. It's actually similar, but a little bit softer, more feminine than Voodoo. As the other reviewers have said, this is woods in winter, snuggly fur, a perfect holiday scent. Daresay it might even be one of the top 5 in just prettiness of perfumes I have smelled. I do live in the mountains and looked forward to taking this with me on hiking trips. Then, she did what any massive canine might try, and curled up on my chest in the middle of the night. Stupid asthma, preventing me from being able to wear certain musks! argh. I will wait and see if I can teach her that I am alpha. If she can't learn to play nice, off to swap.

    Lavina

Lavina is nice! I am not generally a fan of "fresh" scents- give me smutty resins, incense and deep florals. But, I have four "fresher" scents that I turn to when I want to feel "breezy" - which, I admit is not often. This is one of them; the others are Fairy Bites, The East, and Twinkle Twinkle Little Bat. Lavina is definitely in that scent family. If you like any of those other three, this might be worth the splurge. I am totally curious about the bath oil and hair gloss. It smells like a fruity cocktail. I was tempted to swap or sell it out, but remembered that I turn to these scents usually in hot summer, or the dark nights of winter when I'm wishing I'm on a tropical island somewhere. No backup bottle, but I'm hanging onto it and will return when it's once again seasonally appropriate.

    Callidora

Caution: Callidora has some STANK on her. Not that stank is a bad thing. But this has all the subtlety of the sexy female vampire, hungrily storming a nightclub and bloodletting a handsome stranger right there on the dance floor. He lets her, he's totally into it. She disappears into the night, leaving a smoky trace of the hellfire she's escaping. this is trampy, vampy patchouli and RED MUSK. It's not filthy hippie exactly but head shop swank. But like a classy headshop, where one can get certain delicacies behind the counter. Other notes? there are other notes in this? Curiously, for all the violent throw, it doesn't last too long. Might be calling for a backup bottle. My favorite of the wenches, though the others were nicely done- this one is HAWT. the boy likes it, too. but I would say NSFW, depending on your job I had to go back and edit this- after time this is only getting yummier. The notes aren't distinguishing on me any further, but rather settling into themselves as one sinks into a comfy couch- for naughty purposes. As amazing as the yules are, I may have to get a backup bottle of this. Also- I purchased one last backup bottle today. I would LOVE to see this added to the permanent collection. It's the best thing since Snake Oil as far as a sweet, dark patchouli type scent. The more I wear it the more I like it. And with some aging, it's mellowed out enough for day to day wear. DROOLS ETA- I think this may actually surpass the rest of everything to make it to the #1 spot. This is my scent now. I've gotten more compliments on this than anything else.

    Scent for Halloween?

Raven Moon, Mictecacihuatl, Black Pumpkin Floss, and obviously, Samhain might work for that of course, that's no help... have fun! I haven't tried many on your list but I do think that both Zombi and Samhain would be pretty. They both have an "outdoorsy" vibe that makes them fun for bar crawls or trick or treating.

    Theme in Yellow

Why am I smelling bananas?? I'll have to let this age and try again

    September Midnight

I wanted to love September Midnight. The poem is beautiful and I like both pomegranate and moss in the right context. This didn't do anything evil on me and the effect was soft and foresty. But I wanted something darker, dammit, something with blood, passion, maybe some resins, patchouli, honey or a menacing dark wood to lurk in the background. It's pretty. But I have enough scents I'm only keeping what is spectacular.

    Samhain in the Pumpkin Patch

I LOVE original Samhain, but never got much pumpkin out of it. Samhain on me is a dark, apple orchard. This is a perfect scent to switch off with the original, it's warmer. I can see why people would think of this as daytime Samhain but for me the difference is in temperature of the scent, if that makes any sense. The buttery note that can go foul on me in jack is not here. It's warm, spiced pumpkin pie in an autumn forest. <3 <3

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Can anyone recommend something that smells like bvlgari jasmin noir? :-) one of my favorites...

    2013 Halloweenies!

I seriously want, like, everything. But I settled myself to a first order of Samhain in the pumpkin patch and September Midnight- the pomegranate/amber combo is too hard to resist! I wanted to buy everything except the phobias. I think my next order, should I come by the fortune, is to purchase Theme in Yellow. Others I want include Hellgate of Ireland, Mictecacihuatl, Samhain, and possibly haunted house. Of course, I totally agree that sin and snakes in the pumpkin patch sound fabulous. Head explodes.

a shout-out for raven moon! because it's awesome

    Beachy, Tropical Scents

I will second xiutecuhtli and macchu picchu, and tiki princess. Tiki princess isn't as foody as it sounds. Also Marae. Also, Delight and Kataskopia and Nymphia are some of my favorites and they are all tropical ish florals. nymphia is supposed to be foody I think but it isn't on me, just a sweet, fresh floral. you might also give dia de los muertos a try or tezcatlipoca for something a little darker. They have chocolate in them, but again, on me not foody. Oh, and since you said it doesn't have to be BPAL, my favorite tropical of all time is Lush Sikkim Girls. It is stunning, I wish BPAL had a floral tropical vanilla in their GC. To my knowledge they don't.

    Blood Rose

I can't believe I never reviewed this before! It's one of my first bpals, and definitely in my top 5 and grapples for first place. In the bottle it is tart and juicy, and goes on much the same to start out. The Rose is dominant on me with the wine and dragon's blood playing supportive backup. It has a medium throw and wear length, my one complaint is that it disappears completely when it goes. It is paradoxically simple and complex. The wine and resin keep Blood Rose from being a straight up rose, and the dragon's blood makes it more mature, deeper than Persephone. This is good for any season- a springtime picnic, summer date night, autumn jaunt or a winter blanket. I wear it when I want to feel feminine, mysterious, romantic. Love!!!

    Falling Leaf Moon

Wow, this is truly compelling. It pulls you closer, wraps in it's melancholy, and the scent, though you might think would be a cooler aquatic, gives the feeling of a soft blanket, cozying up to a loved one on a crisp autumn day. I agree with the reviewer who compared this to a more effervescent Samhain. And, more than Samhain, I believe this can be worn as sort of a resin scent in seasons other than fall without feeling totally off-base. Not a huge throw, but still noticeable and longer lasting. A soft, wooded win on my skin. :wub2:

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Happy Happy Joy Joy smells just like Lushes Orange Blossom perfume (which is my favourite) but I haven't found any BPAL like it. Even the BPAL Orange Blossom SN isn't as sweet... Though if you want something in the same area I can suggest Vixen "Lascivious, flirtatious, and vampy as hell. A true heartbreaker’s perfume. The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli." It's spicy but has that creamy orange blossom scent. Oddly, the lush orange blossom doesn't work on me. I think there's a rose note in the happy happy joy joy that is missing from the OB. I do like vixen but it is as you say, not as sweet. I am looking to try tweedledee, does anyone know if that's similar?

Scent Recs based on your PERSONALITY!

So, I'm getting sort of a Mme. Moriarty vibe from you, but I like to give GC suggestions so they're easier to locate. I'm thinking some to-try things might be Lilith, Dragon's Heart, Blood Rose, and maybe just simply Snake Oil. It might also be worth it to look into Scheherezade, Bewitched and possibly the Lion. Hope that helps Also- a weird one that has an element of mystery and the uncategorizable to it is the Robotic Scarab.

Can anyone recommend a bpal that smells like lush happy happy joy joy?

Love a Victoria's Secret fragrance? Looking for a BPAL cousin to it?

I love la belle au bois dormant. You could also try perilous parlor or Endymion, for pear. Or possibly, tenochtitlan for an ambery pear

Halp! Recommendations for an absolute Newbie

I definitely second 51 and Xiutecuhtli (not sure of spelling) in the GC if you like Amor Amor. My aunt really likes amor amor I associate that with her, and she likes 51. It's a spirited scent good luck on your search.

    Crow Moon

This is the final Full Moon of winter. The call of the crow signals the end of the frost, and their scent, of vervain, sandalwood-infused patchouli, black violet, white musk, and Chinese cedar, is brushed by the last cold wind of winter on their wings, and the scent of evergreen boughs touched by the season's final flowers and the first blossoms of spring: wintersweet, green-barked dogwood, iris, eastern redbud, primrose, snowdrop, and lenten rose hellebore bouquet. Simply Stunning! I don't know what to make of this one. I can't actually discern the notes. I can see how it bears resemblance to violet but it is not the violet I am familiar with in morgause or nocturne. The whole thing paints the picture of a forest, evergreen and just burgeoning from a winter's chill. It is not a "cold" scent to me but rather a "dark" one. There is something slightly wet about this but for me this scent pushes past aquatic or floral or woodsy labels to just exist as itself. It is completely unique and worth a try even to those who can't stand some of the individual notes. For me, violet, musk, patchouli and cedar can all be death notes but in here they're gorgeous. There's something familiar about this one, this is the scent of a high priestess of a forgotten religion that I've met in my dreams. Dark, violet, green, mysterious. Win, win, win. I'm glad I ordered this unsniffed! Keeping the 5 ml. and the man is ok with it too

Lush to BPAL scent comparisons (BNever included too)

Re: lush lust I love that scent and I haven't found a good bpal match because to my nose it is grandiflorum jasmine and not the night blooming variety as suggested above. Just my 2 cents- if anyone finds otherwise I'd be happy to try...

    Womb Furie

Everyone rants and raves about snake oil, but on my chemistry it was a disappointment. It has a pretty, cotton candy quality, but it is drowned out by something (is that you, patchouli?) that is almost medicinal. Even aged, this stuff is just flat on me. Same thing with O- depending on the day, I get that sour, play-doh smell or else it waves a pretty vanilla wand, and then it disappears quickly. Womb furie? Glamorous bliss in a bottle- a dark and decadent vanilla. I feel edible in the best of ways. It is definitely sensual, sexual even but it has a bit of spice to keep the mystery alive and also the honey note has a lightness that keeps it from becoming totally offensive. It isn't foodie exactly. I can and do wear this to work. It is something of a skin scent, it hugs near to me. The boy likes it also I mean, really likes it, you know?? This perfume, to me, is like the redheaded child born to brunette parents. Snake Oil made wet and sticky love to O, and they had an offspring unique to itself. How is the scent a genetic possibility of it's parentage? Did the milkman pay a visit? I'm not sure, but I really hope this one makes an appearance in future lupercalia lineups...

    Peony Moon 2013

I'm kinda bummed about this one, I love weeping branches moon and was hoping it would be similar. Alas- pure dryer sheets. Elegant, upscale dryer sheets. Dang old skin chemistry, I think this might be a winner on someone else. I believe it's well blended, I can smell the sandalwood hinting in the background, but it mostly hides from the florals.

Best Scent to Wear When Naked
