    Gypsy

It seems this one is incredible chemistry dependent. Hearing comments of too much musk is making me quite envious. All I get from Gypsy is powdery white sugar, but oddly enough it isn't as sweet as I thought it would be. I would love some musk to come forth and deepen this light scent, give it more throw. Strangely, every time I smell this, I think of my mom. None of her perfumes smell this way, but yet all that comes to mind is her. That being said, I would rather this smell envelope me when giving her a hug than waft up from my own self. Well, I will keep it around for a while and if it doesn't grow on me, I know where to send it! Edit: Wore Gypsy yesterday when I was feeling under the weather and it was so comforting! The dustiness of the scent was what I needed, as opposed to the warmth of a scent like Cockaigne (another of my comfort scents) and it lasted all day. I will be keeping this one for days when I need just the faintest whisper of scent.

    Chanukkiyah

2007 version This is so yummy! I think this is the first scent to give me the "I want to gnaw on my wrist" feeling. It is battling with Cockaigne for my top foody scent. The olive oil tempers the sweetness from the other notes, making it warm and oh so tasty. I guess I need to make my next purchase now so I can get a bottle of the 2010 before it's gone.

    Venice

I received Venice as a generous frimp in my ebay purchase of Gypsy. It is a fresh flower scent, not too overpowering, but alas, I don't really do florals. However, I immediately thought of my mom, who has been to Venice and enjoys more flowery scents. I gave it to her today and she likes it! :gasp: I've passed on my first imp to someone else! I've been talking everyone's ear off about BPAL whenever they compliment me on the scent I'm wearing, but this is the first time I've brought someone into the fold!

    Womb Furie

I wouldn't call Womb Furie a let-down, because it does smell incredible, but it was a bit predictable. It smells like Snake Oil with a splash of O, which although amazing, is something I've already achieved by combining the two scents. I guess I hoping it would be its own smell, but maybe I was expecting too much. I think I still prefer Snake Oil over Womb Furie, but nonetheless I will reach the latter for quite often as well.

    Bien Loin D'Ici

Didn't like this one in the vial at all. Very gritty and dark, like an incense that had gone off, with an odd, sharp sweetness in the background. I left the imp to stew for a few weeks before revisiting it and though it still smells a bit odd in the vial, it is wonderful on the skin! Very sexy, but not in an as accessible way as say Snake Oil, or O. It's darker, spicier. Don't write off this Scarlett Woman, because even though you're busy throwing bills at the barely legal dancers, you'll wake up in her bed with an empty wallet.

    Shub-Niggurath

This scent just goes to show how important it is to give an oil a chance on your skin before giving up on it. Smelling this in the vial, I didn't like it at all, especially fresh from the lab. It smelled like rancid ginger in a headshop. Blah. But several weeks later, I gave hesitatingly put it on my wrist and cleavage/neck. Within minutes, I could tell this was a winner. Whoever said this is evil gingerbread got it on the money. Naughty gingerbread also comes to mind Hmm, naughty food ? At least that's what it smells like to me. A three year old boy in my class gave me a hug, sniffed the air, and said, "Strawberries." From what I've heard about Shub, I will be interested to try it out on guys my own age

    Bengal

So excited for this one! Smelling Bengal in the vial it is mostly a spicy, sweet cinnamon, kind of like cinnamon gum. On my wrist, the heat is turned down and morphs from being completely cinnamon to a muskier scent with a big kick of spices. This scent is like snuggling naked in front of a fire on and under a cozy blanket: sexy and super comforting. Bengal might be bottle worthy IF it didn't fade so fast. The scent starts dying down almost immediately and is all but gone several hours later. Boo, I had such high hopes and it delivered on scent but let me down when it came to longevity

    Carnal

Even in the dead of winter, I am looking ahead to summer, trying to find some scents that will be delicious in warmer weather.Fig really intrigues me and paring it with sweet mandarin seemed like a safe choice (I'm finding the more notes to a scent the less likely I will like them). Smelling Carnal in the vial, it is first pure citrus, but not a fresh, orange scent, the mandarin is deeper, sweeter. On my wrist, the earthiness of the fig begins to come forward, preventing Carnal from staying in tweenland. Putting these two scents together didn't seem like an obvious choice, but here it really works

    Dragon's Milk

This one scared me in the vial It was a freebie in my first order and one that I had mulled over before ordering, but since I had never heard of dragon's blood, let alone smelled, I passed on it. I was very intrigued when it came with the order and excitedly opened up the vial. Woah, if that's dragon's blood, no thanks.I become consumed with wearing Snake OIl, O, La Petit Mort, and other yummy scents, and Dragon's Milk was neglected for several weeks. Then one morning I put it on. I can't remember if I finally working up the courage or didn't look at the label, but on it went, quite liberally. A few minutes later, mmmmm, what is that? Dragon's Milk?! Now I really enjoy wearing it. I'm not sure if a bit of aging helped, bringing the honey and vanilla forward more, but now I reach for it regularly.

    Arcana

Freebie from my first order. Arcana smells like an unkempt flower and herb garden with something sinister under the soil. I'm beginning to discover that I don't care for frankincense at all. It's too dark and gritty, and if I wore it too long I think might be headache-inducing. I'm not familiar with neroli and verbena, so I can't distinguish them from the other notes, but I read up on them and can't imagine liking them on their own or in a scent like Arcana. Not sure aging would make me like this one more, and my mom didn't care for it either, so I'm not sure what it's fate will be as of now.

    Twinkle, Twinkle Little Bat

Received this as a frimp in my last order (thank you Beth-you are so generous!) It is a scent I can safely say I would never I have picked out for myself, c'mon, melon?! But suprisingly, I really enjoy it! It starts out with melon on center stage; at this point it could be a single note! Yet even in the bitter cold of a New England winter, the melon is not out of place, instead it's a preview of warmer days to come. When the green tea joins along with a slight mintyness, this scent takes a complex and unexpected turn. I'm really digging this! However at the moment I crave the comforts of warmer, spicer scents, so Twinkle,Twinkle Little Bat will be stored away until the day when a warm breeze rattles my windchimes out of hibernation and blizzards no longer beat against my window.

    Siren

This has to be the most disappointing oil I've tried so far. Reading reviews that it smelled like gingerbread or other bakery treats got me excited and I somehow overlooked mentions of cleaning solutions. In the vial it smelled like decaying geraniums and, wait for it... cleaning solution! I don't want to smell like I've been cleaning toilets all day or like the most foul smelling flower of all time. But I always give an oil a chance, so on my wrist it went where it stayed for about a minute when I scrubbed it off. Damn, I so wanted to smell like a siren. I just didn't know that meant smelling like a potted plant.

    Cockaigne

When I first tried on Cockaigne, I was so disappointed. It smelled just like a buttercream candle and when I sniffed my wrist, all I got was unscented wax. Blah. But I kept trying it and now I love it! This is what it has been smelling like that last few times I put it on: In vial: Sweet, cupcakey candle. Do I really want to smell like Yankee Candle?! It smells like a delicious candle, but a candle nonetheless. Wet: Ok, add sweetened dates or figs to the mix. Thankfully they smell REAL and are pulling this scent out of the candle hell it started in. Dry: Someone smelled that yummy candle and used it as a muse to bake a cake. A tantalizingly, creamy vanilla cake with candied dates on top. All throughout the day, this emanates in waves from my neck and chest. Might just have to get a bottle of this liquid cake.

    O

God, this is gorgeous! It's not as sexy as say Snake Oil and Le Petit Mort, but is still quite seductive. Just after I put O on, a friend came over and commented that the house smelled really good. I proudly told her that nope, that was ME that smelled so phenomenal! In vial: Very sweet but not in a foody way. Mmm, so inviting! The amber is definitely the star at this point, but the honey is fighting its way to the top while vanilla just tries to mellow the two out. Wet: No big changes so far, but the vanilla is smoothing out the scent. Dry: All three notes are working so well together! And it lasts really well, still going strong after well over four hours. Btw, does anyone else find the process of applying perfume with an applicator very sexy? I don't know, but something about it just gets my motor going. It doesn't hurt when the scent is O, or Snake Oil, or something other aphrodisiac scent! Edit: I've been a bit undecided about O recently, and I just figured out why. O smells amazing in my hair and on my clothing, but on my skin, it can smell a little strange. Almost a urine smell?! Hmm, I will keep trying it on my skin to see if as it ages it loses this quality. If not, it may just have to be a hair scent.

    Snake Oil

In vial: Incense, incense, and, wait for it, more incense. Even though vanilla is in hiding, I'm rather enjoying this. It's conjuring up a dark room where all sorts of taboo acts are occurring. Wet: Starting to lose a bit of the spiciness and become creamier, thanks to vanilla showing up. Dry: Goodbye vanilla, wish you could have stayed longer. Perhaps this is that fresh as opposed to aged Snake Oil factor. I'm assuming the vanilla will play a bigger part once I've locked up my imp for awhile. Edit: I had to update this review, because when I first tested Snake Oil, I wasn't too thrilled. And now it's in my top two scents! Just a smidge of aging turned this baby into pure sex. Or as one of my male friends once told me, dripping sex. Some scents are innocently sexy (O), some are a stripped down, dragged into the mud, raw sexy (Bien Loin D'Ici), and then there is Snake Oil. Were sexy a noun in the dictionary, the description of Snake Oil would be the definition.

    La Petite Mort

This is my first review, so needless to say, I don't really know what I'm talking about. In vial: Smells like a typical oriental perfume. Very warm and with notes of floral and incense, I'm assuming that's the ylang ylang and myrrh. Wet: Immediately on contact, the ylang ylang backs down and all but disappears, as I was hoping it would. The myrrh is warming up even more and underneath is a very soft, womanly skin smell (if that makes sense ) Dry: The myrrh has taken on a darker, sultry side and a dusty honey has joined in. This is one sexy scent! I wore this out to a bar last night, feeling very, well, sensual. At one point the rugged bartender was walking past my table and abruptly turned to look at me, ah! I've been to this bar and seen him many times and this has never happened before. I'm going to chalk it up to La Petite Mort, because by the end of the night, I was ready to pounce on myself. Er, okay, I'm way over sharing for my first review...

Cake, cookies, donuts, baked goods, even Cinnabon

I have a weakness for gourmands so this thread is perfect (and dangerous)! Now I wish I had ordered more than six imps! Can't wait to add Chimera, Eat Me, Shub, Siren, and many more to my next order! Edit: Never was good at spelling.
