  1. I am madly in love with Paper Kite - so much that my promises to all other wonderful scents have been forgotten when my hands almost automatically just want to embrace this fragile beauty

This is THE coconut scent for me even though i still love almost all the other coconutty goodies too but in Paper Kite I have found my current signature scent

In bottle and wet: intriguing mix of sugar and pepper with warm coconut behind

drying: still same though coconut becomes stronger and drier and not at all like sunoil

dry: sugary coconut with fresh herbal nuance that prevents this going too innocently girly - clean, happy and calm and just utterly amazing

  2. bottle: sweet and sour and somehow icky like urine

wet on skin: luckily that icky smell from bottle did not appear on skin as this is boozy coconut delight - sweet and strong like good pina colada though there is bit scary whiff of jasmine in it (jasmine and I do not get well along - and that first impression of urine was probably because of these flowers of doom)

dry on skin: sweetiness settles down a bit and boozy and bit fruity wet scent morphs into more floral and soft and very pretty combination of coconut and frangipani - there is also hint of woodsiness i cannot identify but luckily frangipani keeps jasmines on background

I am coconut-holic so this definately fits in my collection even though I tend to love bit spicier and dryer coconuts more - coconut and frangipani makes this however very comforting, familiar and happy scent as those belong seamlessly to my tropical surroundings

  3. bottle: warm and softly spicy - mostly wood

wet: sweet soft spices blend beautifully with dry wood - this is surprisingly light though at this stage so i need to slather

dry: this is very soft and warm and comforting - spices, vanilla and dry wood are all still there and blend together beautifully but so softly that it is barely there

this is absolutely beautiful scent but i wish it was bit stronger on me - need to try how this behaves in hot and humid outdoors as ice-cold office usually fades most of warm scents. I love this little birdie anyway as faint, beautiful notes last pretty well and make me feel relaxed and happy

  4. smells like dusty dark cheap cherry chocolate - old box that has been waiting too long to be eaten...at wet state this was still deliciously chocolately but morphed into dusty plastics on skin

    sadly not working on me

  5. angry pack of musky monkeys appear from bottle and first impression is to get rid of this quickly but during drydown this starts to settle and in the end it is cute furry but still sexy and musky monkey that is not enraged at all

need full-scale test to get final verdict - this did not feel "me" but could still work in some environment and i absolutely adore orangutans (maybe i should wear this when i go to jungle trip in Borneo and see if i could lure some of those silent forestdwellers to appear in sight ;) )

  6. spicy dark vanilla - smelled nice in bottle, wet and dry but disappeared completely within 2 hours - what a disappointment but maybe i should retry this outdoors as cold office could not bring out sexiness of this very well

  7. this is strong and overpowering - also sexy and commanding but i don't feel it to be really me so to avoid migraine i needed to wash it off and give it another try later

new try: not overpowering at all but beautiful - patchouli seems to be note that works on my skin chemistry and spices and hint of orange blossoms soften scent into luscious goodness. Somehow this seems to be very similar to Snake Oil so need to analyse both in detail to understand why totally different list of notes give so similar impression but this works so much better on me

  8. imp: sweet, spicy and dark

wet: first sniff feels pretty similar with Snake Oil but is more ladylike - i cannot recognize notes here but overall impression is sweet and smoky

dry: there is something chocolate-like in this with sweet, spicy and smoky wood - it is confident and very beautiful with dark, regal way and it makes me feel energized and strong

at first this felt even bit too strong but it calms down beautifully to ladylike, sexy scent that has an aura of power so this definately is scent for me - big bottle needed ASAP!

  9. bottle: mmm chocolate

wet: whoa - beer! I love beer but definately do not want to smell like beer especially at work - with beer there is still lots of chocolate so this reminds me of some crazy flavoured dark beer

dry: thank god beer fades to the background though it still is there and chocolate is here to stay: it is delicious and spicy

this is really fun scent after i get over that beer smell so need to try this at different occasions - for office this was probably bit too foody as i graved for something sweet whole day what i usually do not do

  10. Black Pearl was my first BPAL love from many sniffs from my BPAL addicted friend and after finishing my inherited imp I was ready to get addiced too. Recently I have associated this scent or its name too much to one utterly annoying person with same name at my online game community so at first I wanted to give up this old love but then decided that one person cannot spoil anything i remembered to be so beautiful so i gave Black Pearl a new try

    imp: spicy coconut

wet: hint of saltness under spices and dry coconut - this is not sunny beach coconut but more mysterious and sexy where i don't get any flowery notes

dry: stays surprisingly similar with wet stage but hazelnuts seems to make this bit woodier than earlier more coconutty stage. For some funny reason this gives me association of nicely spiced seafood laksa (which I love) though thank god this does not smell at all fishy but perhaps there is something marine in it like suits well with association of Pirates of Caribbean :D

this scent is pretty close to the skin but lasts long and gives overall lazy, sensual feeling like lingering in hammock at the deck of the old ship under the moonlight and coconut palms swaying gently in the horizon

I am glad i decided to love Black Pearl again as this is beautiful and as a coconut junkie I need different coconutty vibes for different days and this is perfect when i want to be luscious and lazy

  11. cinnamon spiced apples — warm and happy harvest-time scent but as I was testing this same time with Vixen that got too overpowerign so i need to give this another time on its own as full-day scent

    new try:

    imp: still cinnamon spiced apples

wet: somehow this reminds me of Gluhwein i tested previous day and I had to resniff my both wrists to ensure that Gluhwein was not there anymore — this is softer and less spicy and more apple cider than red wine though

dry: confident and somehow sexy scent of cinnamon mostly — not too sweet or sour so good balanced blend that kept my spirit up and feeling relatively energetic so it's voodoo magic may work...

I got 10ml bottle of this from eBay and I can see myself using this on days when i need more confidence and energy that is not as sugary happy as Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo or too overpoweringly sexy as many other scents. This could become one of my "standard office scents"

  12. imp: mulled bit sour wine

wet: smells exactly like Scandinavian Christmas-time hot drink glög with cloves, cinnamon and whatever combo of spices makes that tasty drink that is poured hot over sweet raisins and almonds

dry: wine fades a bit and cinnamon and sweet raisins come to the front — this is not so Christmasy anymore but more balanced and pretty scent that fits equally well in tropical heat than in Nordic late autumn evenings

this is pretty long-lasting scent that keeps on morphing a bit with time and wine-notes seem to get back after some hours when sweetness fades in its turn to background. This is warm and spicy and happy scent and I am glad i got a bottle from eBay

  13. The House of Mists, a land of icy fog, shadowy darkness and soul-chilling cold. Dark, damp blossoms winding through an impenetrable, murky gloom.

ohh am I happy that i got 10ml bottle from eBay just because of the description even the reviews were less than enthusiastic. I am simply in love!

in bottle: aquatic, herbal and crisp

wet: more flowery and getting darker - quiet and bit sad landscape where white flowers have frozen in the icy mist

dry: flowers are still there but getting more comforting than sad and herbal notes are getting back and merge with flowers into dark green background and instead of marshland this is morphing into more oceanic and regal landscape like fjords of Norway, which naturally fit the name and description perfectly. This is subtle and cool and hauntingly beautiful and reminds me of home far far away in the cold mists of North

  14. imp: wood and bananas

wet: bananas morph into more artificial on skin but dark green tropical trees is now strongest impression

dry: plastic bananas calm down and overall impression remains green with some exotic wood and seabreeze at the bottom - there is faint flowery undertone too but it does not jump out but more merges with bananas into background sweetness. I can easily see this scent to describe lush tropical trees and banana plantations of Philippines with sunny seaside at the background. This is pretty but not memorable and it seems to disappear pretty fast

  15. ugh but this is smelly... first impression is bad... very bad...

slate coffee with rancid milk... and something salty that changes into musty smell of something old and wicked that makes me almost physically sick so i need to go to wash this off quickly (though evil whiff still peeks beyond lavendar soap.... i need stronger neutral smelling soap as with lavendar this is totally gross)

description of this sounded so great that for sure I need to try this again before giving final verdict as I am not ready to give up yet

  16. Aunt Caroline has helped me to stay positive during some quite grim days so its spell at least has worked on me as it is happy, comforting scent

    imp: sweet fruity bubblegum

wet: fruits and berries are still very sweet but less bubblegummy - and there is lovely pinch of cinnamon that prevents scent to become too much like candy

dry: this is getting more foody - like berry pie with caramel sauce and vanilla icecream... this makes me hungry when having empty stomach but this is delicious and pretty though occasionally there are still whiffs of lollipop that are bit too sweet

Overall staying power seems pretty good too - i got sunny, tasty whiffs still after long workday and shower. I think this will be on bottle purchase list mostly because of its moodlifting effect even scent is bit too sweet and girly to me to be used as everyday scent

  17. imp: lemon tea - not sugared ready-made blend but more fresh and green

wet: very strong lemon, but clean and fresh

dry: lemon steps behind to allow aloe to soften this to be calming and beautiful scent that is mostly green tea but it's barely there... just a quiet whisper in the wind but lovely anyway

surprisingly that hint of scent lasts for long and deepens a bit by time though it is still mostly like echo of something beautiful but almost invisible. I think i need to slather with this to really find out if I truely love this enough for a bottle

  18. imp: fruity wine - or nice, crisp Riesling with some berries I am not able to recognize as strawberries

wet: berries get stronger but same time more artificial but mostly this still smells like cheap white wine

dry: very faint echo of spilled wine but berries have totally disappered

after 1 hour: Bon Vivant where are you? Nothing is left and as I never got fresh strawberries out of this i do not really miss that it's gone

  19. imp: very sweet home-made butterscotch - almost sickeningly sweet

wet: same - hint of burned sugar and strong buttery cream and still not much coconut coming through

dry: coconut is finally taking the leading role leaving too sweet cream behind and same time some other innocently clean notes start to appear. This is beautiful and peaceful tropical scent that intenses nicely at heat outside without getting still overpowering

after several hours there is still pretty echo of sunny coconuts left - this could probably replace my first BPAL love Black Pearl as perfect coconut scent (though i still renewed my love to Black Pearl too but cannot get over bad associations related to it's name)

  20. I have been reading lots of reviews and have came across often to mention that some scent is too heavy or spicy or seasonal to be used during summer

As i am still newbie for BPAL and live in tropics where there are no seasons I wonder how different scents act in hot and humid climate and if some specific types suit this kind of climate best?

I myself am also still searching my own scent style and like to be experimental but overall I am autumn kind of person who adores spicy, earthy, woody scents as well as sparkling tropical coctails. For me scents are always reflection of some "mind landscape" so I would like to hear recommendations/experiences do e.g. autumn forest scents or icy winter scents work in totally different real-life environment
