  1. In the bottle this smelled... medicinal is the only way I could describe it.

Wet it was... WOAH! Cloves and... stuff.

Dry, it smells a little like... incense and candles/wax, with a wafting floral from the distance from my head to my keyboard, and occassionally? Medicinal again. I would almost describe it as... holy? which is funny because- HELL GATE!

Up close though? More clove and a light sweetness, but not like... sugary. I rather like it.

I might have to sneak try this on my husband.

  2. Imp from a decant circle I was part of.

First. I love this. It's warm, and sweet, and just a bit tart, and creamy. I get waves of lilac, and sharper floral, and a sweetness that I'm going to assume is the candied violets. It smells creamy too in a sort of a baby oil scent kind of way. I'm going to bet it's the orris since it reminds me of black opal in that same oily/creamy kind of way.

Yes. I love this. I'll probably end up getting a bottle.

  3. Jareth in the bottle smelled very boy-ish. Cloves and peppermint-y. I put it on my husband. It smells like him after he eats a couple of peppermint candies. On dry down, it smells like him after he's drunk a couple of Jones Cream Sodas. Apparently my husband smells like a goblin king.

  4. Well, this is a really masculine smell in my opinion. In the bottle it smells like spicy men's cologne. Wet on me? It smells like spicy men's cologne. Old spice comes to mind actually. After it's dry, it softens a little. I could probably wear it, but I think this one is getting passed on to my husband.

  5. In the bottle i get a lot of pine from it. I was wary, but I thought I'd give it a go. Put it on? It immediately turned into Elizabeth Arden: True love. Not what I was looking for. Now it's sort of a tart floral that is quickly fading. I think this one might be destined for the swap pile, but I'll give it another go for one last chance some time.

  6. The Raven? I think is based of a men's 18th century? cologne. It's one of the scents with violet in it. Since I only have The Raven, and Ultraviolet (either of which I think could work as a men's scent), and it's one of those, there you go.

Well, I double checked, and neither has that description, but I was CERTAIN they did. It may be because many men's colognes contained floral notes during that time.

  7. I got my decant yesterday and I wore it last night before I went to bed.

I was originally worried that it would be too masculine kind of like VILF was on it, but it isn't. I don't know that I'd call it feminine though either.

I get a lot of carnation when I wear it, and on the dry down. A bit of tobacco, but not as much leather as I was anticipating. I REALLY like it though, and I'll probably buy a whole bottle of it

  8. Unbelievable...A rose scent I can wear! No soap?! woah

First Impression out of the bottle: Grape

Wet on skin: Bpals familiar wine note. Reminds me of Bordello. Very juicy with a hint of spicy lingering in the background...something wants to come out and play!

Dry: I'm barely getting the florals, but I do get more violet than rose. The leather is very playful in the background, but my skin doesn't amp it like crazy. This is awesome. The sexy musk and leather keep the wine in check. I can't believe there is rose in here. No way...

Overall I really like Wanda. Something about her smells familiar, not sure what. Definitely will keep my imp. Undecided if I'd want a bottle. But hooray for a rose scent that works for me :)

I've been describing Wanda as the more feminine version of VILF.

  9. Compelling, complex, and utterly enigmatic: a luxuriant, exotic blend of cherry, red musk, and star anise.

That's funny, Pynki, because it was ZOMG CHERRY on me and the anise was the part I was worried about.

I think my body eats cherry. I LOVE cherry so much, but every BPAL I've gotten with cherry in it, the cherry scent just disappears on me almost as soon as it gets on my skin. I'm a saaaad panda.

  10. This started out with lots of cherry and a touch of spice and florals in the bottle.

As soon as it was on my skin it started to amp the star anise.

Dry? All star anise. Unfortunately I don't like that licorice smell. It's the first bpal that I've gotten that I REALLY don't enjoy, but I guess I know to stay away from the star anise note now.

  11. So, I got an imp.

It's a very wine-y smell on me. Like dried sweet red wine. And leather and roses like previous posters have said. I get a strange cedar wood, or maybe pencil shavings like, smell up close, but not unless my nose is right up in it on my skin. But, I actually kind of like it. It gives a nice earthy base to the scent.

  12. I got a bottle of this because my name is Dyan. I mean it's a perfume. With my name on it! How could I NOT get my hands on this if possible! I was lucky enough to find someone willing to part with their partial bottle.

I like it. It's very floral. Mostly rose on my me. It's a summer I wear more in warm weather, but not one of my go to scents.

On the other hand, it's a perfume. WITH MY NAME ON IT! I love it just for that, I never had anything with my name on it as a kid.

  13. I definitely get vanilla or maybe Tonka. And creamy coconut. with.. some floral smell. And a rock smell like... marble. Something sparkley. Then an occassional whiff of clean dirt? Like if you were out in your flower bed gardening. Damp, but not wet dirt, but it's only occassionally that smell drifts up.

It's a little perfume-y, but I really like it. We'll see how the husband likes it later.

    ETA:

That perfume everyone thinks it reminds them of? I think it may be Chanel No. 5. It reminds me of my grandma and that was one of her "going out" perfumes. I think that might be why one of the other reviews said she could see it on an older woman.

  14. In the Imp: OMG! MINT EUCALYPTUS! MEDICINE-Y! My son smelled it and said it smelled like chest rub. I wasn't sure I wanted to try this on quite honestly, I got it as a bonus in a swap I was in. But I read the reviews, and I was assured this would turn more violet less Vic's Vaporub.

Wet: Eucalyptus and mint, but it quickly settles on me.

Dry. The violets have come out to play. OH HOW I LOVE THE VIOLETS! I think there is still some mint in there gilding the edges of these violets though. It FEELS cold in my nose even if I can't discern it individually. there's also something else I can't quite put my finger on. It may be the neroli, and it's just the slightest bit powdery.

  15. I refer to this scent as pure sex and leather.

In the imp it's heavy on the leather and sandalwood for me, with some honey/sweetness thrown in and men's cologne.

On my skin wet it much the same. Heavy on the leather and the sandalwood, with a powdery scent.

Drying down the leather pulls back a bit. and it smells like honey, and sandalwood, and amber and leather. It's damn sexy.

After a few hours it wears down a slight floral, powdery amber and sandalwood with wafting leather.

This is the scent I wear when I'm feeling dark, and bad ass, and sexy, or I want to. I REALLY prefer this on my husband.
