How much is shipping currently, if you do a paypal order for a few bottles?

What I do is load up the CCNow shopping cart, tell it where I want the order shipped ,& get the shipping charges & total that way. Then I go to PayPal, place the order, then empty the CCNow shopping cart.

  2. I haven't read through all the old messages on this thread, but today CCNow rejected my BPAL order on the grounds that "The location of the IP address recorded did not match the shipping and/or billing information for this order."

Not sure why this message is popping up now. I've ordered from the Lab before several times without incident, and none of my information has changed - same credit card, same computer, same Internet provider, same home address for both billing and shipping. I could have done something dumb like mis-type my credit card number, but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to go back and check - and it seems like that would have generated a different error message anyway.

I did email both the lab and CCNow about it; I'm just wondering if others have encountered this.

Isn't there a way to pay via Paypal for BPAL orders?

Wasn't there supposed to be a website redesign that eliminated CCNow?

Here's the info on how to use PayPal to place a Lab order, copied from the Lab's FAQ:

How do I order through Paypal? Can I tell you what I want so you can send me an invoice?

We do not send Paypal invoices. To place an order through Paypal, first construct your order, then calculate your total and:

    1. Go to www.paypal.com and click on "send money"

    2. Address your payment to paypal@blackphoenixalchemylab.com

    3. At the "review and confirm" stage, list your selections in the message box provided

    4. Please be sure to send payment in US Dollars only

If your selections do not fit in Paypal's message box, please email your selections to Customer Service after sending the payment.

    Please note:

You may use our online shopping cart to construct your order and calculate your total, but please do not click on "checkout" if you are paying with Paypal. The checkout feature is for credit card orders only. Please do not select Paypal as payment method on a CCNow order. We get double charged for all orders that use both Paypal and CCNow together.

I would advise not using CCNow at this point, anyway. They got sold to a foreign company, so it shows up to your credit card company as a foreign transaction. I got charged a foreign transaction fee on two different credit cards (both issued by Citi Bank, by the way). I called to dispute one of them (arguing that I live in Florida and was ordering from a company in California), and got absolutely nowhere with the "customer service" agent. I didn't even bother calling to dispute the 2nd foreign transaction fee after that; I've just been giving those cards a rest for the last couple of months.

As far as your immediate problem with the rejection message, I haven't seen that because I haven't used CCNow lately.

  3. I don't travel with imps, just three or four 5 ml bottles. Each bottle goes in its own sandwich-sized Ziplock bag, then those bags get rolled up tight and put into my "one, quart-sized, zip-top bag," which then gets tossed on the top of my carry-on bag's contents (except when it gets taken out for the actual security screening).

  4. I think it sounds like fun, too. Another way to handle a package that arrives after the deadline is to say that the recipient gets to play catch-up: if they can't start until Day 3, for example, then they get to open the first three packages at once. I'll admit that approach also has it's problems, though.

The full moon every month brings us a new Lunacy blend. Those are available for 72 hours. Yeah, your imp requests will be substituted.

Ooh thank you! Okay so any ending in Moon or Lunancy will only be available for 72 hours?

Sometimes the Lunacies are up a day or two longer. They're listed on the Limited Editions page of the Lab's website when they're available. The Limited Editions page lists the dates when each of the limited edition scents on that page will "come down". Also keep your eyes open for the announcements when the Lunacies and other limited editions are posted, or "go up". The announcements appear here on the Forum, on the Lab's Facebook page, and in your e-mail if you've signed up to get e-mails from the Lab.

  6. Blackbear Moon started off as almost entirely hazelnut on me. (I had a bag of hazelnuts handy, for comparison). I couldn't really pick out any of the other notes, but there was a sort of underlying impression of furriness which became more dominant as time went on. (Or to flip that around, the hazelnut gradually faded out.) After about five hours the impression was mostly fuzzy furriness. I never really picked out any of the notes other than hazelnut and the background, softening furriness.

  7. This one started off as a floral for me. I actually thought it smelled a bit funereal, rather like a wreath of lilies instead of the lilac that the notes call out. The throw was fairly decent while it lasted. The floral aspect eventually went away, leaving a faint, musky remainder (possibly the patchouli) that went a little bit plastic-y on me. By the 4-5 hour point there was almost nothing left.

I liked the early phase better than I thought I would, but don't really love this scent.

  8. I got mostly a nice mango with a bit of supporting white chocolate and/or buttercream on my skin. Of course, that was only at first. After an hour or so, it had done the usual fade to a plasticky scent that the Lab's Box of Chocolates scents do on me, and in about two hours it was all but impossible to detect anything.

Sad. The initial mango was kind of nice, but this scent was an overall fail on me.

  9. First of all, this oil requires thorough mixing. It looks like liquid dark chocolate. (And it stains the skin accordingly.)

As I feared, it doesn't really work on me. The chocolate note barely smells like chocolate. I don't think that I smelled the bacon at all. And something has gone funky plastic on my skin - I suspect it's the cassia, since it seems to have the faintest, cinnamon-y edge to it.

It's a pity that this scent didn't work for me, since I like the bacon chocolate bars.

  10. I have now worn this four days in a row, and I'm still having trouble figuring out what to say about it. When first applied, the impression I get from it is woody, not like tree trunks or limbs, but more like branches from brush or bushes. Once dry, it spends a while smelling of red/purple fruits. I also picked up an impression of peach in this phase, even though peach isn't one of the listed notes. In the final phase, the red musk seems to be predominant.

This isn't a very strong scent, as in it doesn't have a lot of throw and I have to slather it pretty heavily (for me) in order not to have it quickly fade away to almost nothing. But it does last quite a while on me, at least eight hours.

    I like it.

  11. I really wanted to like Snow White 2010. The notes sound great. But when I put it on, it smelled like plastic on me. Old, nasty, deteriorating plastic. I washed it off.

I may give it another try later since it sounds like it ought to work. But not as I'm getting ready to head out for the day.

  12. When purchasing a forum-only with CCnow, do you need to put your forum name in the area for "special comments" on the billing/shipping page? I saw you all mentioned listing a forum name but I wasn't sure where when ordering to put it.

Yes, use the "special comments" block to note your forum name. (Once or twice I've forgotten to include my forum name  and sent an e-mail to the lab afterwards to provide that information - I forwarded the e-mail receipt & provided my forum name so they could match up the infomation [order number, items ordered, etc.] The labbies are very kind about forgiving lapses like that, though I try not to do that to them too often. )

  13. I tried Wildfire 2010. The smell did not remind me of wildfire, or even a controlled burn. I did not detect wood or smoke or anything fire-related. What it did bring to mind was rubber, and a sort of "off" rubber smell at that. I suspect it was the dragon's blood and/or rose that produced this effect, but I'm not good enough at singling out notes to say for sure. Anyway, I didn't care for it at all.

I will have to give Wildfire 2010 points for longevity, though. Eight hours later I could still smell it on my arms.

  14. This may well be my favorite of the Butterflies. It's very well blended; I can't really pick out any individual notes. If I had to categorize it, I'd probably label it ever-so-slight-foody. Some other reviews have compared it to a Yankee Candle scent, but I don't get that from Monarch (but from Spicebush Swallowtail, definitely!). It does seem to be fading rather quickly, though.

  15. Spicebush Swallowtail smells like a holiday candle on me - the type of candle you find between Halloween and Christmas. The only note that I can identify for sure is clove. I think the other notes are there in a supporting role only. This one will be good for when I want to smell like gently spicy clove. i just don't know when that might be. icon_wink.gif

  16. Tiki Princess goes on very light (I could just barely smell it at first) and gets stronger as it dries. Unfortunately, it ends up smelling kind of plastic-y on me. I suspect that it's the coconut, but I can't tell for sure. It isn't unpleasant, but I don't really care for it.

  17. At first there is a very little sage hiding behind lots & lots of cedar. I could imagine a desolate heath. Before long it went to straight cedar. And all I could imagine was a box of brand-new pencils.

Hmmmm, I wonder if this cedar would make a good moth repellant for the closet?

  18. I got bottle #112. Apparently Eris likes cloves. She really, really likes cloves. Unfortunately, I associate oil of cloves with dentistry, as in toothaches and dental cement - that's why I can identify cloves so readily. This blend doesn't smell bad, and as time goes by the cloves have some other things coming to join them, but the associations just aren't that good for me.

  19. This started off as a light floral over what smelled like an aquatic base. After a while, it became spicier - I think that is the frankincense coming to the fore, perhaps boosted a little by the rose otto. It's still a light scent, though. Quite pleasant.

  20. This is an interesting one. In the bottle and when wet, I got almost straight incense. In fact, it rather reminded me of being in a pagan/wiccan bookstore.

On me, this blend faded very quickly. Within thirty minutes, there was almost nothing left of it. If I got my nose up really close to where I'd applied it, I noticed that it had developed a distinct smoky tinge over the incense. It now smelled like smoldering, aromatic wood rather than straight incense.

ETA: The drydown phase of smoky, smoldering aromatic wood actually lasted quite well, but remained faint.
