  1. I was really expecting something more sweet with this, but instead it goes all sharp, medicinal mint on me. It fades very quickly though, ten minutes later I could barely smell it except a faint, almost astringint smell lingering around. Oh well, I'm not a huge mint fan anyway, so I'm not horribly dissapointed :)

  2. oh yum! Sweet, dark chocolate and bitter coffee, sweetened even more with the sugar and a dash of cinnamon. This is delicious! The perfect warm comfort scent. It does smell just like mexican hot chocolate as other reviewers have said. Definitely one of my favorite foody type scents... I got an imp and promptly had to get my grubby paws on a bottle. This is going to be absolute perfection in the colder months (if it lasts that long)

  3. I wish this scent was a bit more murky on me, but I like it just the same. As mentioned, I'm not really getting any murkiness. And I swear I can smell pine here.... but layered with bruised, purple flowers. As it dries I am getting a more grey feeling from this, a wet cold smell clinging to the flowers, but with something sharp and biting underneath. I wish I was better at picking out notes, but as I said, I do like this and I keep getting frimps of it so I'll definitely keep one or two on hand :)

  4. On me this is herbal, dry wood. And I mean dry! Like when I sniff my wrists I can taste dryness in the back of my throat. I'm definitely getting the cedar and sage, so I don't know what I was expecting, but this is waaaay to dry for me. It makes my throat itch :) Off to the swap box!

  5. At first all I get is deep, sweet, black cherry, but that calms down almost right away. Then the rosewood makes an appearance, with the lavender lurking in the background. Its sweet and slightly powdery, but I'm liking it a lot and then... its gone. This fades superfast on me. I like it muchly though, so I'll keep the imp, but I do wish it would hang around a bit longer :(

  6. This starts out on me with mostly spicy carnations, and then as it dries a gorgeous plum undercurrent shows up. It ends up as a slightly spicy, sweet floral, with the plum in the background, mostly giving the scent its yummy, juicy quality. I like this a lot and am debating on a bottle :)

  7. Very light and clean, as previous reviewers have said. Its pretty and effervescent, but very light, at least on me. It fades very quickly, but its a pretty, sweet scent while it lasts. I don't know about all the luring and bringing doom to sailors, but its.... nice. Unfortunately, for me, its not anything more than that.

  8. This is so pretty! I'm not getting any citrus notes at all (fine by me) unless they are contributing to the starry feel of the scent. This is a sweet floral, but not cloying at all, and it has a definite nighttime quality to it, sitting outside on a clear, cool, starry night with the sent of flowers wafting through the air.

  9. I like rose, but on me thats all I got. A kind of weak rose, really, no spice at all. It was very faint and faded very quickly to nothing :( It was pretty, but faint, and there are so many other bpal blends that do much more interesting things with roses (at least on my skin). Off to the swap box.

  10. This is one of my all time favorite poems, and I love the song version as well, so of course i had to try this. While its not as melancholy as I was hoping, its very pretty. Definitely a watery scent, its also very fragile. The flowers aren't overpowering or cloying, its more a translucent, floating kind of feeling. Like floating lazily on a crystalline lake on a clear day with the scent of the flowers along the banks wafting through the cool air.

    Very understated and delicate.

  11. This is definitely a dark, spicy scent. Tobacco, sweetened by clove, and a slight minty bite. I'm not getting any cumin, just a dark, sweet, sticky scent. Perfect for the namesake, I'm certain-sure holding on to this imp :)

  12. This is the biggest failure I've had yet. Please keep in mind, I always thought I hated patchouli but after trying some lab blends that have it listed as a note and liking them, I got brave and thought I'd order something patchouli-heavy. On me though, this is really, really awful. It smells like bitter orange and dirt and (forgive me for saying this) b.o. :ack: It might have smelled better on the drydown, but I couldn't wash this off fast enough. Take my review with a grain of salt though, because as I said, I'm not a fan of patchouli, and its entirely possible that the dirt/b.o. thing is some weird scent association that my brain has with patchouli, as I used to know a person who was not the most hygenically conscious and wore patchouli all the time.

Anyway, I wish I could get what the other reviewers do out of the scent, but at least I know my imp will be able to find a more appreciative home :)

  13. I don't know how this is possible, but I've tried Bluebeard twice and.... it smells like... bubblebath :huh?:

I'm so sad... I love the story of Bluebeard and was really hoping for an angery, murderous blend lightly veiled with a veneer of gentility... but no :cry2:

  14. On me, this is a very sweet, purple-blue floral. Its quiet and calm, with a damp greenery in the background. Like walking to a graveside service on an overast, misty morning through slightly damp grass. Its a very pretty, sweet scent, but also somber.

  15. A funereal bouquet laid on cemetery grass: longiflorum lilies, white rose, chrysanthemum, and carnation.

For the first few seconds this is a heavy floral bouquet on me, and its nice, but a bit perfumey for me. after it dries though, the flowers a tempered by fresh, dewy grasses. Its still not my favorite, but the grassy note is giving it depth, and definitely making it a more unique scent. I'll be holding on to my imp of this one, I really do like the grass

  16. As soon as I saw this, I HAD to get it. I love the whole story behind it, and I'm pretty much a sucker for norse mythology. It smells very woody and herbal in the imp, but as soon as it hits my skin... spearmint gum. Maybe a bit more herbal but... spearmint gum. Complete skin chemistry fail on this one.

  17. This is mostly aquatic on me. A very calm scent, its got that salty aquatic feel with ginger and citrusy notes and just a hint of milk. I was really really hoping for something more creamy with the ginger, but not with my skin chemistry apparently :) I like it and I'll be keeping my imp, but its just not what i was hoping for.

  18. Whoa! On me this is super almond! All I am getting is the cherry like almond with a bit of bitterness, but also a little vanilla. This is... intoxicating. And not in a good way. More in an overpowering-your-senses kind of way. I wish this had played nice on my skin, but into the swap box it goes!

  19. At first, I'm really getting the pine pitch and cranberry, with a herbally hint of tomato leaf in the background.

After a few minutes though... I'm not sure what happened, but this goes all sweet, waxy, christmas candle on me. Like a pine christmas candle. Much much sweeter than I was expecting, and I'm not sure where the waxiness is coming from. *sigh* Off to the swap box with this one then.

  20. dead on mint julep. There's not really much more I can add. I got this as a frimp from the lab or I most likely never would have tried it as smelling like bourbon (or mint, for that matter) isn't really my thing, but I'm amazed at how dead on this is. Bourbon, mint leaves, sweetened with sugar... Still not my thing, but if you like alcohol scents, definitely give this one a try!

  21. I have to say, I'm not getting any nailpolish at all :)

On me, this is all sweet, golden straw stirred by a gentle, hot breeze. Its like standing in the middle of a barren field when the heat of summer is just beginning to give way to fall. I'm not getting any grass or greenery, just sweet, warm golden fields.

This is going to make me sound totally cheesy and romantic (not my usual m.o., I assure you all) but if you've ever heard (I can't believe I'm going to say this) "Fields of Gold" by *cough* Sting, this scent really evokes that song for me. (Yes, yes, I admit, I love it. Guilty pleasure, what can I say?)

Anyway, I have a bottle on the way. :wub2:
