  1. I'm curious, when I first tried Elegba and Black Lace, the tobacco notes were pleasant, but got smokier like cigarettes on the dry down.

Ever smell a pack of cigarettes in the package? Especially Marlboros? I love that smell, unfortunately once they're lit, I really don't enjoy them.

Does anyone know of a scent more like fresh tobacco than lit cigs?

  2. Wet: The sharpness of wine really jumped out at me with that robust oak and smokiness dominating.

Dry: A certain sweetness rises, just a hint of the cherry and plum, but the smokey oak lasts while the wine dampened down. There is that darkness to it that gives it richness without being too fruity.

A few hours later, it's still the same, faded quite a bit though but now the rose petals are detectable.

I like it for the long run, if I'm feeling dark and moody. Not an overpowering scent, but there's a rich complexity that I like.

  3. When I first received this and sniffed, all I got was this overwhelming pine scent that totally made my eyes burn.

Then this past week I decided that I needed something different than my usual sweet scents and gave it another try. I guess either it warmed up a bit since my first sniff or there was just something different with my body chemistry, but the pine had definitely toned down and I could smell more florals and a touch of sweetness that I really liked.

As it dried the florals definitely increased. The berries weren't emphasized much.

So taking this one out of my 'get rid of' stash and putting it into my winter scents rotation.

  4. It's still freezing over here, but I'm starting to go through my collection and wonder what I'll be wearing when it's warm and I'll be outside more. I've been into very sweet scents, lots of honey and florals, so I'm kinda worried about attracting bees and other insects!

What sort of scents would you all recommend instead? I'm sadly not very good with heavier musks, vetiver, and pine goes insane with my chemistry.

  5. I'm really surprised through all this that no one has recommended Libra 2007? To me it's a deep rose that's tempered by sweetness and spice without being musky. Rose, black cherry, carnation, fig, honey, plum, and black currant.

I wanted to roll around in this stuff right after my first sniff, on the dry down the sweetness faded a bit leaving mostly a rather beautiful rose that wasn't cloying at all.

  6. In case anyone is wondering, apparently Werepuppy is back-ordered. I inquired a couple days ago about the status of my order placed on 1/2/10 since I'd been seeing CnS's for dates several days after my order was placed. Guess that one is quite popular! :)

Well poo, poo and poop-e-dy-doo! I added that in with my Lupercalia order.. I hope the back-order situation doesn't cause too much of a delay. I think it suddenly became popular when all the rave reviews started pouring in! Well.. that, and the cute label is hard to resist :)

I was actually wondering about the shipping time as well. I got my notification about shipping from CCNow back around 1/15 but I got the CnS a week later today. Makes me wonder when I'll actually get my order since I'm about to place my next order with all the Lupercalia stuff in it.
