  1. Well, I have Saturn conjunct my sun, so he's my oldest and dearest friend, harsh taskmaster that he can be ... and I both love this oil and would wear it for the feeling it evokes in me. The grassy/woodsy thing comes out as Earth Mother on me - not the fluffy bunny indulgent mommy, but an Earth Mother that is gently, quietly firm. You know right where you stand -- and it's a good place.

This has got to be irresistable on a man.

  2. I got this as a sample in my order that arrived today. The only note it that my nose is really familiar with is the neroli, and I know I love neroli ... I hate ylang ylang and am not crazy about patchouli -- but I AM crazy about Tisiphone. I want the big bottle. I get the incense thing, too - as well as something yummy, creamy, almost edible about the flowers. I get the image of tropical flowers for some reason.

Really, you have to try this one. Another masterpiece.

  3. What Red Jezebel said, word for word.

This is my favorite favorite, number one of my top five. I adored Snowcake -- it's gone, but Lo! Fortuna is good -- there is Dana O'Shee. Even better!

    So happy.

I want several 10 ml bottles.

  4. *SWOOON* Oh My Godesses!!

Kali, the Magdalene (little tears of joy for the beautiful Magdalene, thank you, thank you!), the Queen of Sheba, Pele, Midnight, Wanda, Szepasszony, Queen Gertrude, Regan, Titiana - I've got shivers of delight just thinking about it. THRILL!

  5. I can't describe the notes any better than has already been done - I got a 5ml bottle in a swap today and I love it. I've layered it over MMU Almond Pastry sweet fluff body butter and it smells ... scrumptious.

  6. I'm so surprised by this one. I came in the door scowling and grouchy (just got back from running errandsm, the AC in my car is acting up, it's gonna have to go back to the freakin' shop), opened up my swap and put this on right away -- and smiled involuntarily, to my great surprise and delight. Wet, the very strong scent of chocolate covered cherries, which reminds me of Christmas and my mother!Happy happy scrumdiddlyumptious.

The closer to my wrist I put my nose, the more I smell chocolate - the further away, the more I'm starting to smell cherry cola.

Will write more on the dry down. I'm undecided whether I would wear this often but I'm sure glad I smelled it today. It seems to be turning into Droste cocoa powder, which to me is very pleasing - just maybe not for summer - but maybe perfect for cooler weather. I'm definitely seeing the color of cocoa and thinking about velvet, cream, richness ... to me, this is very sensual.

  7. I get mostly spearmint from this too, and I love it. I put it down the sides of my neck and it feels cool - I feel like a Peppermint Patty commercial. This is going to be perfect for the dog days of summer, and great for the office when I need to chill and gather my wits.

It's nice layered with Old Paris, too.

  8. Revised post: this was a sort of rant against Nature's Gift, from whom I'd ordered roller ball bottles which I thought were defective.

I got a prompt answer today to the email I sent them about it, and someone there explained their technique for assembling their roller ball bottles, which involves pliers ...

they are a BIOTCH to put together, but I doubt they'll ever in my life leak!

I was terrified I'd spill the Precious, but so far so good, three bottles decanted into roller ball bottles.

So all's well that ends well.

Order from them if you're dextrous; meanwhile, I sent off for some from the e-bay person posted in a thread above - we'll see if they're any easier to put together.

  9. I've got the big bottle on order and just put a generous bit of my imp on to go to sleep in.

It is candy sweet, very juicy, and richly floral - this one is what I would call girly, because there is no real "male" part to it, i.e., no patchouli, vetiver, incensey whatever, nothing really grounding, it's all yin -- and I don't find it white at all, or retiring. It unabashedly sweeps me off my feet and won't leave me alone. Tantalizing and addictive, it keeps teasing my nose. Mmm, what is that? oh, that's the orchid. No, that's the daffodil. No, that's not it, that's ... Jeeemonetty, what a jasmine ... Plumjasorchidodilly. I mean - any one of those as a single note is a knock out of a sweet scent, but put them all together and it's just lyrical, intoxicating.

The best I can do is say that it smells like tropical flowers drunk on plum wine. But really, I can't describe it. I think that's why I like it so much.

  10. :P This was my wedding bouquet too - mine was blush pink roses, lily of the valley, stephanotis, and ivy.

I love this perfume. Timeless, classic, subtle, well bred. The immediate image I got was the young Katherine Hepburn.

Something about the classical composition of this scent comforts me extremely.

Edited, looking for just the right pictures.

  11. Bitter, acrid orange that fades fairly quickly down to a warm neroli citrus scent that's highly lickable. A beautiful scent for day - reapply about every four hours.

Dreamwalkblue: All I really *did* smell though, was orange blossom, sweetened slightly by the mimosa. It smelled almost exactly like a bar of orange blossom soap, still in it's paper wrapping.

    :P Perfect image.

  12. My first impression was overwhelmingly negative. I've stopped smelling the imps in the vial - I put them straight on and wait to see what happens. What happened with this one was, I said OH BLECH :P . Indole, I got a very strong indole note right off the bat, from the jasmine and orange blossom.

    So it smelled poopy.

    But THEN

The mysterious alchemy that is BPAL started to happen. The longer I wore it, the more I liked it, until after about two hours, I have to say, this one knocks my socks off. To me, this is as fine a perfume as any French perfume house ever put out. Sophisticated, feminine, sexy but not in a flashy, flirty way, more in an experienced woman, understated, way.

I like it so much I'm not going to wear it around the boy. If he shrugged this one off, I really think I might get upset.

Gorgeous, and maybe just for my very own pleasure.

  13. It doesn't work on me. Smells like bourboney vanilla, cedar chips, incense, wood smoke. All nice smells, but they are not me.

This one's got me running for the lily of the valley. Ack, give me light, give me air, I'm choking ...

I bet it will be a great room scent - I'm keeping the imp for that.

Edit: I've discovered I like this if I layer it over MMU's Chocolate Rose lotion, or if I wear a little bit of Vice with it - just a tad of something to accentuate the chocolate. Otherwise it goes too woody on me and makes me feel suffocated. (I have a hard time wearing woods although I love them on other people.)

Edit again: I'm CRAZY about this scent. It just took a little while to settle in for me. I've become addicted. I'm buying the big bottle!
