  1. On me, I smell just a little bit of rose, but more pear, vanilla, and gardenia with a very soft touch of honey to make it sweet. I do like it. I don't know if I'd get a big bottle, but maybe a partial or a few imps. To a casual nose, this might blend too much and smell commercial. I like my perfume to have a bit of a off-beat vibe.

  2. Wet, it smells like bruised roses. Thick and beautiful, like the ones that you sort of want to bite - although I might be the only person who has that strange urge ;)

Dry, it's faded a little. Still a very true red rose scent, with a little bit of spice and dust. I think I prefer pink roses, though! Tea roses, soft and gentle.

4:35P: Oh no! This one is gone already!

  3. Warning: the label washed off this imp when I tossed it into the washing machine. I am about 98.9% sure this is Against Idleness and Mischief based on my sniffer and knowledge of notes.

This is an absolutely beautiful blend on me! The honey sweet, not rich and dark, and the tonka bean does a wonderful job anchoring the blend. Generally, this is one of those perfumes that I can pick out specific notes when I want to, but other times, I can just let it blend into something beautiful to my nose. It's not like a lot of other honey blends I've smelled: there's nothing overtly sexual about it in the very least. It's definitely more of a worker bee honey, rather than a luring in the bears honey.

Will definitely be purchasing a big bottle. It is literally the most perfect warm, beautiful sunny weekend day scent I've come across.

  4. In the bottle, this smells absolutely heavenly. It had all of my perfect notes. But maybe that was the problem? It's like how they say that two gorgeous people will make an ugly baby. On my skin, this is so incredibly masculine that I almost feel like the wrong juice is in the bottle! Surely I have not just put orange blossom honey and brown sugar on! This is man. Man, man, man. There's also something mildly metallic. Why skin, why?!

I'm going to give it some time, see if the tobacco lightens up, if the vanilla cream tonka bean can get a chance to have her say, but if not, I don't know if I would wear this and I'm single, so there wouldn't be a man to try it on. :cry2:

Edit: I just made the saddest sound as I realized that I needed to scrub off. It'll go into my aging cellar (otherwise known as my walk in closet) for a while and we can try it again in the Fall.

  5. When I wear Anthelion, I read it as nutmeg...although I could see clove as well. Anyway, scent is not too important to me. As long as it isn't headache inducing, we're so good to go when it comes to ritual oils.

This one has been sort of a foundation for me in the last two months. I had bought a bottle specifically for being broke but it is so much more to me. It's a strong pair of arms, keeping me from collapsing. I wear it on my root chakra and on my heart chakra, and then press it to my temples. It's not an explosion, but a steady, stable blend. It'll be okay.

  6. Ninon has to be one of my favorite perfumes I've come across in a long time. Wet, freshly applied, it's a little overwhelming; when I press my nose to my wrist, it's strong, but when I dab behind my ears and just let it waft a bit, it turns my entire world into a sweet, lightly lavender, honey, vanilla, and musky cloud. I'm a self-admitted lavender girl but I never would have imagined that Ninon would smell this good. It's just amazing. Originally, I thought that the sweet smell was my candy from earlier but I quickly realized that the candy had been put away and sealed up and this beautiful scent was sticking around.

    In love.

  7. Ok well this should be interesting, i don't find describing my self at all easy but i will try!

I am 24 years old photographer, strictly darkroom, i am a great printer and printed professionally for 6 years but i am going back to school with scholarships to pursue my own work more thoroughly. I shoot iconic American images, a bit gritty, generally focusing on ordinary life, i am generally detached from my images, although the personal factor is that i am strictly grounded on the non-exotic.

I have a great love films in particular some directors i adore are ingmar bergman, fassbinder, early werner herzog, eric rohmer, david cronenburg, mike leigh, bella tarr, andrei tarkovsky, and david lynch (and many many many more) i collect films and i prefer the heady or psychological film that focus on human interactions, emotions, torture and relationships.

I love beer. I am a vegetarian. most of my friends are male. i am incredibly sexual. i date and live with an insane painter. I openly discuss extremely sexual acts. I over examine absolutely everything in life, yet i don't take life or society too seriously. I've been often referred to as a deviant, libertine, old fashioned or a hedonist. I am into cats, i work at lush, i am a lush, completely over indulgent and frivolous with my money. I am incredibly good to my close friends but only have a few. Too blatantly blunt and honest at times...

My favorite musicians are tom waits, nick cave, leadbelly, woody guthrie, nina simone, and elliott smith, but i am into all music and have a large vinyl collection and a million cds and i am anti-i-pod.

I am a regular at an old baltimore tavern that caters to the strangest people you can imagine but once you are in, it is as good as cheers.

Physically, i am brown hair, brown eyed, i wear cat eyes liquid liner and red lipstick and i have a beauty mark on my cheek. i am average-curvy in size. I have 1950's decorative cat eye glasses in which i wear when i have to read or am in school.

Lets see what this brings in!... thanks for reading :)

First off, I have a crazy crush on you now. Second off, I was thinking Wanda or Banned in Boston. And, oddly enough, the Red Queen.

  8. Just got Werepuppy today! I love Stinky and this is in the same family as Stinky (creamy clean baby), and reminds me of Burt's Bees Baby Bee lotion as well; it's not exactly what I was thinking it would be but it smells good. I love these sorts of scents! Something nice and gentle, unassuming and impossible to offend.

  9. The Bow & Crown of Conquest strikes me as being gender neutral. I can wear it without feeling like it's too masculine, but I would be delighted if I had a man wear it around me. Mmm, yes. Ditto Antikythera Mechanism and Miskatonic University - again, I can wear them, but man alive, it would be delicious on the right guy.

Oh: I tried Antony on the ex once. That was pretty much amazing.

  10. Have I mention how much I love this perfume yet? Spicy chocolate majesty. I can't believe how I can smell the cocoa powder when it is wet. I'm just in love with all aspects of this perfume and I'm delighted when I put on a sweater I wore while wearing this perfume, because I get gentle whiffs around the collar. Mm.

  11. I really, really didn't care for Snake Oil when I tried it the first time a couple years ago. I never had too much of an interest in aging it - especially since it takes two years to really get good - so when I saw that Boomslang was similar to an aged Snake Oil to another reviewer, I thought I'd go ahead and give it a shot.

I am so incredibly happy I did! It's a beautiful vanilla and chocolate scent, deepened by the teak but made nice and creamy by the rice milk. It's beautiful and like a delicious cuddle. I adore it, I really do, and when the Carnival is leaving, I'll scoop up another bottle or two, just so I can keep it around for a while.

  12. To celebrate her life and the joy she brought to all of us, we have created a scent evocative of bright days running through the grass and sun-warmed puppy fur dusted with California wildflowers.

Wore Pa-Pow this morning: it was grassy and floral, with a nice and comfortable warmth beneath it. The grass stage was my favorite, but I'm also a big fan of I Smell Good In...Grass and I can't get enough of grassy smells. Definitely a keeper for me and will be an amazing Spring scent. Casual and pretty. My skin gobbled it up quickly but I'm very happy with the perfume, the scent, and the memorial it represents, so I happily re-slather.

  13. I wasn't sure if I was going to be okay with this scent, but so many people love it, so I thought I should pick it up. In the imp, it's rather dark and strong; when it's on my skin, it's absolutely delicious and one of the best Autumn scents that I have ever smelled. There's not a lot of perfume out there that smells like this perfume and it's amazing. Big bottle in my Yule order!

  14. This is what I was hoping Cake Smash would be. I have an imp from a couple years ago, when it first came out and I remember falling in love with the smell. It boggles me why I never bought a bottle of this!

It's cake with red fruit, but the cake tempers the fruit so it's not "fruity". I know, weird to describe fruit without being fruity but I always associate fruits with that cloying tropical scent that it's popular in commercial perfumes sold to young women my age. The fruit doesn't sparkle, doesn't smell like a fruity alcoholic drink. The berries are sweet without being too sweet or syrupy, and the cake just shines for me.

It's warm and delicious and I'll be purchasing a bottle of this as soon as my bank account gives me the okay. Mmm.

  15. I had really high hopes for this! I've been looking for something that could be my "naked perfume" and I thought that this would be perfect. It's definitely an intimate scent and it's sexy, it smells beautiful, but it's a little too powdery on me. I'll keep my imp and try it in a little while, but so far, I'm not really leaning toward a big bottle.

My BPAL naked perfume quest continues!

  16. There's cake in this? When it was wet on my skin, I could smell the sweetness and it was amazing, it was exactly what I thought it was going to be! And then it dried and something smokey and masculine peeked through and took the majority of the sweetness away! There's still some cake somewhere, but it's not as much as I had hoped.

When it comes to cake, I think Eat Me works better for me.

Sad! I was so looking forward to this, I thought I was going to faint when it was announced! I love the name and the bottle art is adorable! I'm so bummed.

  17. O (Aged about two and a half years, at least)

I don't remember liking this scent when I first received the imp and I can't say that I held onto it for two years just for aging purposes. I actually lost it and didn't find it until I was gutting my bedroom! Wet, it's sharp and a little offensive to me. I'm not usually an amber scent lover, so I think that had a lot to do with why I was repelled by my wrists and pulse points.

Now that it has dried-down, it's a more mellow. I don't get a playdough aspect until my nose is smashed against my skin. Other than that, it has a nice little waft of sweetness. I prefer more honey and vanilla to amber, and it's not quite there for me, but it's pleasant. Not a big bottle (two and a half years to get this?) But I can see what other people like about it.

  18. I picked up a bottle after reading the notes and I just have to say that I really adore this scent. It's sexy in a naked skin sort of way and I wish my skin smelled like this naturally. I sure hope Beth brings this one back next love season. I'd love to pick up another bottle and wear it to bed (both to sleep and for other reasons, ahem).
