Tried this at night about ten minutes before bed. In the imp: Lavender with a tang in the background (the bergamot?) Wet on skin: Was starting to get the jasmine and the bergamot became a little more obvious. It was reminding of me of something ... I don't know. Dry: Soothing floral and citrus, though I didn't enjoy it long, as I was out like a light before I knew it. Very subtle on me--which seems a good quality in a sleep scent--not for daily wear. Effect on sleep/dreams? Here's a mixed bag; because, while I wouldn't call the sleep I had "restful," I do feel well-rested. I'll try to explain better: Well, as noted above, it definitely has the ability to knock me out (who needs NyQuil when they have this?). On the other hand, dreaming was very, very lucid. This gave me the kind of dreams that you suddenly realise (in the dream) that you are dreaming--but, until that moment, felt you were awake. A little unsettling, but also entertaining. I was asleep for a little more than nine hours, and when I woke up, I physically felt like I really had been doing everything that had happened in the dreams--minus exhaustion, if that could possibly make any sense ... What a ramble! Long story short, I think I need a bottle of this one.

In the imp: spiced chocolate () Wet on the skin: chocolate and cherry liquor, underlying floral quality--and, so far as food goes, I try to keep chocolate separate from fruit; but as a scent, this is quite lovely. Dry, several hours later: bitter cocoa--and nuttiness. Probably not a good idea to wear when I'm hungry. Received as a frimp with my first order, and really pleasantly surprised. I might not have chosen it for myself based on the official description. Of the scents I've tried so far, this might be my favourite; it really makes me want to check out other scents featuring the chocolate note.

A complex, voluptuous scent that captures the robust beauty and of the Italian Renaissance: lemon, red currant, wisteria, red rose petals, heady jasmine, Florentine orris root, waterlily, red sandalwood, violet plum, and violet leaf. In the imp: Very fruity and spicy; this smells like it belongs in a cocktail. And I know there's no orange, but orange liquor is my first thought--probably actually lemon. Wet on skin: Still a bit fruity and spicy, but getting more jasmine and water lily. Dry on skin: Well, it seems that the lemon and current scent has disappeared completely and left nothing but florals--primarily jasmine, but also what I imagine to be the wisteria. This one might make me sneeze. Sadly, I think I like the initial complexity of the scent better in the vial than in the dry-down on me. Still, I think I'll give it another try later ...

The scents of the blossoms of darkness, condensed into one perfume. Features a rose base, softened with lilac and wisteria. In the imp: Strong old lady perfume, hard-edged florals. Kind of my generic expectation of perfume. Wet on skin: Not much different, but maybe a powdery undertone to these florals... Can't really pick "rose" out of this. A little while later: Oh, very powdery and soapy--like a classic Dove bar of soap, as a matter of fact. Still quite floral though--in a way that makes me think of a rose sachet for the lingerie drawer. Dried flowers and soap. Fairly strong scent, when compared with others I've tried so far (granted, I haven't tried very many yet). After about two hours: The "powder-poof" impression has died down a bit, but still evocative of a lingerie drawer. I'll see how it wears throughout the rest of the day, but this feels rather like Victorian-lady-smell to me at the moment (like I'm trying to seem older than I am). It's not bad, per se, but I don't think it's right for me.

In the imp: overpowering acrid smell--like decaying plants in soil. Not clean. Wet on skin (as I was not careful in opening the imp, the scent ended up on me whether I wanted it or not): still smells like the gardening section at Home Depot--floral and mulch-like. I didn't let it go to dry-down, which, upon further reflection was cowardly. I'm new at this; forgive me. But the initial reaction of "mulch" drove me to the sink before it had a chance to set in. I'll return to it later for a second try (as I'm starting to wonder if my unfavorable reaction is because too much of it got on me), but my first impression is that it's not the scent for me. [Edit: OK, I tried again, and let it go to the dry stage. I'm definitely catching the "leather" note more this time around, and I think what my nose interpreted as "soil" when wet goes to "leather" when dry. In fact, the "leather" is mostly overpowering everything else, though there's still green under there. I think I'd like this scent on the man-friend, but my second impression backs up at least part of my first impression--that this is not the scent for me.

In the imp, this smells very fruity to me--which I didn't really expect, given the description. Wet on the skin--still kind of fruity and sweet, but with a bite behind it. It's a faint scent, and I don't think it's going to last my commute to work. Now that I'm at work and it's had time to dry--hanging around me, there's definitely the impression of milk tea left to sit ... and something extra that might be the pepper. But the scent is very faint unless I'm fussing with my hair or leaning on my hand; then, the sweetness is more obvious. Not a big fan of the initial scent, but I like the dry-down--though it doesn't last very long on me.
