The cedar starts out, but much different, much fresher, than in past scents. It could be the patchouli backing it up. The scent is very earthy/woody and dry. Starts getting a wee bit soapy, but that may be the cedar overtaking the rest. I'm happy that this is the only scent where the cedar hasnt turned pencil on me, but I dont think this is yet an everyday wear. Close? Maybe more of a camping scent, haha. Very woody, and earthy. Starts reminding me of the temples in Japan-- which is really cool, but not necessarily something to share with the world via perfume Though it's actually getting a little softer 10 minutes after app. Nice Though the cedar is fighting to poof out more. Best cedar blend yet. Retest. Very green at the outset. Then, a good deal more sandalwood, I think. It really does seem pretty similar to Japan. Strangely smoother than most cedar blends. Its no longer sandalwood, and its not directly cedar...

Weird pine sol and.. Something scent. Almost woody.. Slightly smooth. A little husky, though. Artificial.. Plasticish.. Orange hand cleaner and… I can't name it. Fake wood? Can't smell the jasmine, no distinguishable herbs per say. Is the lavender throwing the odd twist? Also not distinguishable. Very strange scent. It wants to be smooth, but has such an awkward back note. Drying down to an even weirder scent. No more orangey fakeish citrus. Just... odd. Orange blossom seems to behave weird on me, could that be it?

Juniper is strongest in the imp. On skin, it smells most like the rose and chamomile. Perhaps some of the cypress. A little soapy, but also a bit green. Not an everyday wear, as all rose/lily scents seem to be. Swap off.

In bottle, quite ferny. At first touch to skin, green, a little funny powder (like.. Like..) Really weird. Similar to something I tried recently (weird note)..From a distance it's a little green and sweet-ish, up close it's headache inducing. Something sharp and aggravating, powdery, then rotten. Gets a little fern-ier and less rotten...small hint of rose in the background. Now, mostly entirely just rose. Meh.

    Niflheim

In bottle, smells like shower gel or something similar. Generic bath product floral. On skin.. It turns into a sort of dish soap smell. There's something a litte nicer below, but not yet… Nothing dark, maybe damp….no murky gloom for me. Definitely has that "damp exotic floral" scent going on. Not a winner for me. Reminds me of some of the other jungle bloom notes... It gets less soapy, but not particularly more appealing. Swap awaaay.

    New Orleans

In bottle smells like my moms' perfume (Is it the jasmine here that always confuses me?!). On skin… The lemon is a little strange. Is it the honeysuckle that's trouncing to the topnote? There's a strange, nose-curling after-scent when you take a whiff. The spices? Seems to wander back to smelling similar to Mom's perfume. But with a confused creaminess around the edges. Really out of wack. Now... Powdery plastic lemon flower. Wah wah...

LILY/JASMINE. Softens up very quickly, though. The tangerine seems to poke through... Still seems to smell just like every other lily/jasmine scent. Sigh.

    Morocco

-In bottle, Morocco is some sort of awesome! Soft, rich, amazing. -On skin, changes a bit.. Honeyed spice, with a hint of a distinct but unnamable flower. Maybe it's carnation? The red sandalwood seems to make this sooooo rich and smooth, with the florals giving it a little nudge up from being comatose inducingly smooth. -The florals are morphing just a little bit after a few minutes, into something that seems almost a little more candy-like. There's some note here that is just SO rich it's amazing. Almost vanilla, honey syrup, laced with a hint of spice, and those florals. This is really pretty awesome. The syrupy rich sweetness reminds me a bit of Mouse's Sad & Long Tale, I think..The longer it wears, the more the florals sink to the background (HURRAY!).. Mmmmmmm HUFF HUFF HUFF. -This is just sweet with the faintest underbelly of spice to make it interesting. The sweet might come from one of the florals (whichever wasn't being pesky in the beginning). Maybe it's just the red sandalwood that's making this so decadent? The more I think about it, the more that might be true. It's similar to sandalwood, but softer and warmer, slightly less woody and beat-you-over-the-head as Kathmandu. This is just subtle and sexy and awesome. Full bottle please?? Retest--Tried it out in the locket this morning (1 wand swipe) and was waaay too overpowering. Headache inducing. Only wore it for about half an hour and put the swatch away. Ultra creamy and sweet. Good, but too strong for today.

    Manhattan

In bottle, primarily grapefruit. Immediately on wrists, (slightest) leather-lemon-grapefruit. Teak and perhaps the tea very far back. There's a little bit of a weird combo cropping up.. The citrus is much less prominent.. Could be the amber, taking this a little powdery... If there is any mint it is very faint.. As this dries out it really balances itself. The citrus comes even. There is a soft hint of the leather, and the florals and amber balance out the citrus kick. Unexpectedly nice. The leather is nothing like Dee's biker leather... Here it is very soft and elegant and goes great with the other notes (not that Dee isn't great, too!). Perhaps not an all time wear, but worth hanging on to for a little while. It really turns into something subtle and nice. Not a lot of throw. But it is all of it's parts combined, without any one note screaming out. If I didn't know already what was in this, I wouldn't be able to name any individual scent. Soft, delicate but not too innocent. Not too creamy the way Morocco is. Has a little more edge to it. Good blend once it's dry. On second thought, this scent is damn good. A cool, sexy scent. Definitely does start to inspire glamorous women walking through Manhattan is heels and couture clothing. I'd consider a large bottle of this.

    Kyoto

In bottle, SUPER cherry. -- WAH splattered all over hand while opening. First sniff… Sharp, almost sneeze inducing… not quite floral.. But.. Ehhh. Not pinesol or lemony cleaner, not orange, but the same citrus (but not) note. Blehhh. Sloooowly calming down. Gets a little bit smoother. Eventually a little bit of cherry or orange peeps out. Much less sharp and angry. A little smooth, with a touch of edge. Full dry- much smoother.

    Kumari Kandam

Super masculine. Definitely "aquatic". A hint of citrus? Might be the "blooms" because it floats more towards the slightly floral side. Clay and stone, sure. Ok. But very masculine. Maybe a nice scent for the boy…? It's strangely fruity though.. exotic. Sort of like mango, or melon. But ... a little smoother, colder...

WHOA INCENSE, sharp cedary incense. Reeeally sharp. Smells a little minty almost. Clears your nasal passages for sure. Oh! Not mint-- WINTERGREEN. Wintergreen and wood. Definitely a unique scent. It's getting less ass-kicking as it dries, and more woody spicy with a hint of creaminess. Perhaps thats the sandalwood or saffron in the background? Still very cedar/barky though. The sandalwood seems to get more prevalent for me-- to the point where I can almost distinguish it specifically, which Ive yet been able to do in other blends. Really it seems to be coming out in strong force. Awesome?! Reminiscent of the "sandalwood" Shikai lotion, but better and less fake. Mmm. All thats left is definitely sandalwood, sweet, sweet sandalwood. ...I think I may have confused the "pure" sandalwood with CEDAR and sandalwood. Compared to Cathedral this blend is not ALL cedar, but the cedar definitely had a distinct influence over everything else.

    Gomorrah

Smells sort of like a horse barn at first… o_O … Then, an herbiness comes on. It's really strangely, nicely familiar. There's definitely some sweet fruit in there that seems to be striking that cord. I think this reminds me of something Lush.. FIGS & LEAVES that must be it! Except that this is herbier, darker, and less rancid smelling. Now.. It sort of smells like hot sauce D: It had such potential! Perhaps this is because I added a bit more oil after first sniff, because I thought I hadn't put on enough. Could there be such a big difference between application and scent?

    Glasgow

Very berry. Smells rather soapy though while wet. In the imp you could smell the heather a lot better. The heather comes out as it dries down. Gets a bit greener. Strange. Retest 5.27.09-- Smells shockingly flowery & soapy. Where are those berries...? Settles down a little, but not enough, I think.

    Bengal

Smells AWESOME in the bottle. Like the best chai ever, and then multiply that by 10. One the skin, what I THINK might be the skin musk turns the scent a little sour, a littly musty. In the bottle the honey, the ginger, the clove, the cinnamon, were all there perfectly. Now, they all seem to be gone. From a distance there's almost a lemon tea twinge, but up close the skin musk smells a little damp and moldy. An almost sweet mold. Really similar to what I was smelling predominantly in Giant Vulva, except here there is that slightest of slight lemony twinges. Damn. This may just be a locket scent... Maybe it's the clove that's getting beaten over the head with skin musk, and comes off as lemony? Still not becoming the winner it was in the bottle. Fades sort of quickly? The skin musk dominates the whole time. Never a whiff of the clove, cinnamon, ginger, peppers again.

    Baghdad

Has a sort of sharpness to it when first applied, but begins to go more powdery as it is drying. I think the sharpness may be the bergamot? I can hint at the rose, the musk, and perhaps the amber. So far, there is a similarity to Peitho, almost. The same vein of the lily smell, but not quite. It seems to be dropping to the back as it dries, and is getting a bit softer. The mandarin gets a little bit more pronounced. I think I really prefer softer-spicy scents. This gets better as it dries, but I'm not sure it's a winner. The awkward sharpness just doesn't quite fade enough. Gets worse and worse as it wears. Really bothersome. Blah.

In bottle, VERY melon-y. On skin, it is MUCH brighter, and less juicy. Very perky scent. I think some of it might be attributed to the freesia. There's also a scent that really perks up your nostrils, not sure precisely what it is. Maybe the mandarin. As it's sinking in, it's smelling more like the melons and fruit, more distinctly, and much less generally than when it was in the bottle. The flower scent is still at the front, though. Overall, good choice I think. Uncharacteristic of me, but it's actually quite nice. Great scent for spring/summer.

Wet: The roundness of the vanilla is most apparent. The amber and sandalwood slowly come forward. The peach offers a soft backdrop to the rest, not entirely apparent, but gradually coming to the front of the scent. Actually, this is pretty much all sandalwood/amber on me. The peach/heliotrope is just barely noticeable.

This smells GREAT in the imp. Almost like cookies, or lattes. On skin this transforms immediately into a VERY similar scent to the cloying sickening sweet of honeyed O. Up close it is just thick and ugly-sweet. From a distance it's, well… What I thought would be great, is falling short. Alas, alack. Though as it is drying the floral is coming out more which is making this a muuuch more complex and satisfying scent. OK, by drydown this is nice enough to wear again. Keep for a bit. Edited to add: DEFINITELY try again. This is good. Real good. Best floral yet?

Cedar springs out in full force as soon as applied. Very woody. But there's something that's attempting to temper it. From a distance you can smell it, probably the sage. Much rounder and a little sweeter. Up close, though, this is all cedar all the time. The cedar begins to get a little softer from the herbs, but not much. Still VERY cedary.

    White Rabbit

At first its sort of lemony, a little candy, then HOT DAMN black tea with lemon! Maybe that's the clean linen smell? Now it's sort of indistinct… The ginger might be there, but… the rest is fuddled. (Why must so many scents smell the SAME on me?!) The lemon is gone, there's still something sharp, but its not lemon.

    Mouse's Long and Sad Tale

Ooo, The ambers provide sweetness while the vanilla sandalwood provide round warmth, and the sweet pea seems to throw in just a slightly higher twist. Unexpectedly nice blend. The vanilla/? Makes me think of cookies and baked goods, but the sweet pea keeps it from going at all foody. One of the first "feminine" blends that doesn't make me directly think "stereotypical perfume", and does not cross the line into being too sweet at all. As its drying the vanilla fades more to the background. On the drydown its quite different from the initial glee inducing scent. Still attractive, but just sad that the vanilla fades so far back. Seems like the ambers come through most strongly? I have to amend this, once I got up and walked around with it on (instead of just wrist huffing) it's beautiful. Still vanilla, still perfect happy blend. The sort of thing Im getting whiffs of and drooling over. <3 Retest- On first app, it's a foody sweet creamy yumminess. The sweet pea seems to be amping up at first, ruining the initial super smoothness but I think it is a passing thing. The sweet pea almost (barely!) seems to add a burnt edge to the foody vanilla/sandalwood/amber. Unless it's the ambers? It's still rounding back out though. Mellowing out so well. The burnt, awkward smell leaves, and the blend is so nice! Not all time favorite love, but very good. In scent locket-- Wears as a very thick and heavy scent. Pleasant, but heavy. Last forever though!

    Eat Me

From more of a distance, while wet, this is utterly cakey. Up close there's a little something else, something a hint more juicy which strikes me as the black currants. Darker. It's utterly foody, vanilla cake, and as its drying it's retaining the dryness of the cake, but taking on more of the currant qualities. Up close it's a little overwhelming and rather fake(?). But from a distance the tartness of the currant mingling with the vanilla is delightful and a dead match for cake with currants. The currants don't take over and get sour-sweet, in-your-face.. but rather you envision a lovely white angelfood cake that has currants scattered in it just right. It smells just like the currants are baked in. Now that it's dried a bit more, the up close scent has changed a little, but is still too artificually vanillic with a hint of plastic and what (at a stretch) could be construed as berries. 15 minutes later, the currants have come around more fully. Up close, I smell primarily the currants now and less of the vanilla, a bit less of the plastic. From a distance it still smells nice, and it's really rather relieving that it's backing off of the heavy cake scent and easing into a bit more fruit.

    Villain

In bottle, a reeeally nice accented lavendar. Immediate contact, probably mostly the lilac and citrus musk, not so much the lavendar. Suprisingly nice because it is neither sickeningly sweet florals, or B&BW citrus. Wow. It continues on and gets really soft, almost powdery. The crispness of the citrus is rather lost... The lilac must be what's dominant. The lavendar never made an appearance on skin. This scent is nice, and unusual, but not everyday wear on skin. Maybe with the locket! Almost too young a scent on the skin.

    Pain

Totally STRANGE in the imp!! Lavendar.. maybe.. But whatever pennyroyal is is crazy-- smells sort of like eucalyptus with lime and musky leather. Definitely has the nose biting eucalyptus scent to it. A little smidge of minty-ness? But so musky, sour! It's drying down and losing a bit of the musky quality (especially from a distance).. reminds me of mom's Deep Relief rollerbottle. Not really a perfume so much as a vapor rub sort of aromatherapy tingly smell. The lavender must be coming out because this has gotten MUCH smoother now. The pennyroyal is still sharp, but not musky. Cool!
