  1. Crushed, I so wanted delicious Sugar Cookie with a touch of cherry sweetness, but I hit a huge wall of plastic straight out of the gate. The bits on my clothing, don't go there, but the cherry is alcoholic, and heading to a heady booze, the sweetness is lightly there, but mostly its dead drunk for me.

My nose is still slightly off from being poorly, but so far husband and kid vetoed this one, but need to give it one more go, before I give up, as I so wanted this to work :(

  2. This scent is similar to the original but there is difference right off the top.

Comparing this to the original you get a much softer less intense medicinal scent then you get in the bottle of the original. It has a softer, more powdery floral scent from a flower I just can't place.

This one on at first is so much lighter and softer then the original. Again the new floral note in it offers a light sweetness and delicateness. It almost disappears for a second, but a little more sniffing brings it back. Next to the original in this stage shows two totally different scents, but one's that are clearly related at the same time.

In the end this scent has many of the notes that made me fall in love with Numb, but with an added softness that reminds me of that soft floral of Havisham or some of Beth's other older florals.

If you are a floral lover, or like a classic feminine scent you are going to go weak in the knees for this one!! I don't tend towards either but I still love this one!!!

  3. This oil is based on a traditional Jewish ritual blend, used to heighten magical work. This scent is firey and powerful. I have not used it yet in ritual but the scent from the bottle makes you want to get to work! Add it to any ritual use that you feel needs an extra boast.

  4. In the bottle; My first thought is wow this smells like something I have smelled before, but I can't place it. But it reminds me of the holidays. It has a light musky, spicey, floral scent.

On: This maybe one of the few slightly citrusy scents I can wear for that reason I am thinking this has bergamot or something similar (no orange since orange goes :D on me), it also has something like maybe sandalwood or something in that arena. Making this scent a lovely blend of spice and sweet. I also feel like there is something almost aquatic in the back.

Final Thoughts: I will first admit this is not the first time I had tried this one and I had already come to a decision about this one so this review is quick to reflect it. While I like this scent there is something that just makes me feel like it should be on a guy (much in the way I feel Wilde is the ultimate men's scent). I am very girlie in most of my BPAL choices so this just isn't quite me, but I am so lucky cause it is swoon worthy :D on my guy!!!

Thank you again Beth and everyone at the lab, I get the best gift of all a great smelling guy :P

  5. My two (VERY high numbers)

    CMLXII- 962

In the bottle- OK this is strange, I get a tingle like of menthol I believe from eucaluptus (like my nose actually tingles like from Vicks though lightly) but there is also a spice here ginger or a dusty cinnamon its not clear what that spice is. I don't know why I feel like at least in the bottle this scent should have been included in the Arkam series as it reminds me of some ancient dark Lovecraftian monster.

First on- The tingle is still there but the actual scent of the ecualuptus is gone this has a dusty tone of a slight spice with just a tinge of floral coming up at the back as it rests on my skin. But not a girly floral a darker floral in perfect balance with the now slightly resiny scent.

Changing spiral of scent- OK I think that this scent was designed to exibit almost every style of oil Beth has ever done. I have seen aquatic and slightly ozone with a slight spice in the bottle, visted menthol (ok while not mint it still has that tingle), slightly resinous, floral, a sweet almost fruit :P, then what comes up but a light wood and who knows whats to come. None of the stages are of the heaviest of the catagory but they clearly are defined.

The drydown- This is a hard one to peg because I think the drydown on this is going to take a long time to settle. I am still getting changes with the spicyness coming and going and mixed with either a slight floral or a light resinous scent.

Overall- I think in the end this is almost aquaticy but with a slight tinge of spice. This one is so hard to explain but was so fun to experience. While I don't know if I would wear it I would love to have everyone get a chance to play with it to see what exactly it does on others. Because this one sure made my head spin and was FUN!!!!

    MXIV- 1014

In the bottle- Is that cherries? Not cough syrup cherries but bing cherries with some other slight sweet and maybe a wood behind. This is a bit like my CT2 but at the same time very different.

First on- Sweet, Tarty, with a slight touch of maybe spice. The wood like scent is showing up as it sits. Though changing this is not quite the same as the last this one has toned way down, the its getting deep and dark. The sweet is mostly hidden under a layer of light dark woods and something else.

Drydown- For a second I thought this had vanished but no its there slightly exotic and just a hint of sweet. It is very hard to explain except to say it is sexy as hell.

Overall- I am so on the fence about this one. I think it might grow on me but I will have to see. But let me tell you this is one of those naughty CT3's that really gives you no hints in the bottle . None at all.

eta: darn you lil' 1014 why do your woods have to rise up. Why? It has a slight cedar scent. I don't much care for the woods so this one might go to a new home :D

  6. In regards to bottle DCCLXXXIII (783?)

How can I love someone so much and hate them at the same time? Beth how could you be so cruel? This small bottle here has complete control over me and is sending me into a Libra Balance freak out. This little bottle numbered DCCLXXXIII is almost exactly what I have been dreaming about for over 10 years (closer to 15 but I can kid myself) I thought it was Numb that had brought me close to remedying the problem of a discontinued long remembered and impossible to replace "me" scent but now I see I have kidded myself. It is not Numb that has brought me close to the original scent but this DCCLXXXIII with its Violet and Roses and something slightly spicey (White Ginger???) and maybe a sweeter white floral. While it is not an exact match it is so close it doesn't matter.

Or maybe it is not a closeness but a strange hold this bottle has one me. It has made me apply it every single day since I got it (over a week). While I have two other CT2's on the way I am afraid that DCCLXXXIII won't even let its hold go in order for me to sample them.

This is why I both hate and love you Beth you have given this bottle so much life that its grip will not let go of me, normally that wouldn't be so cruel but this is the only bottle, this is it. I know when this bottle is down to its last drops it will sit in a worshipped place with its kin and make me set out on another search in the future for a lovely scent such as this.

Sincerally the worshipper of bottle DCCLXXXIII

(Yes this is a strange review but blame the DCCLXXXIII. I also know about 90% of you are out there gagging at the thought of violet or anything similar in Numb and how you didn't like its skin reaction on you. But this review is for those of you that love Numb, you will understand and I think many of you would drool over this one. I am so happy this one landed in my hands! Thanks for the 3!)

  7. I agree with most of what has been written, so far only Budding Moon has turned my head this run but CM not only turned my head but dropped me to the floor. This is a spicey scent but not hot, it is milder in some ways then past Ginger scents. There is a dry dustiness for me though the cream notes and others ib and flow the ginger holds true. It is not a green smelling ginger (like in shub) but a redder almost cooked ginger scent, but not as foody as poppet.

This is a spice cabinet aged and dry but rich and beautiful. If you are a spice fan this is one of those scents that doesn't have anything exactly like it. This will be a perfect match for many of us who have been longing to fill that need for spice. This is delicious scent!

  8. I get such different take on this one then many others

In the bottle: I get a sweet I think the wine scent, with spices and what gives me images of dried leaves. It is very much a fall scent.

First on: The spice kicks up and there is an almost waxy scent. The spice rises with a cinnamony and something dry and rich behind it. It also still has the wine scent and something slightly smokey. This gives me the image of a sultry woman.

Drydown: This turns into a mulled red wine. The spice tasty warmed in a exotic red wine. It does gain a touch of sweetness but still is red, rich and hot in its scent. I want to drink this one dry or make love to it.

Overall: This is a hot, sexy and oh so yummy interpertation of Fall. This is the scent for kicking up leaves and driving the boys and girls nuts! You would stay very warm with this one.

  9. EAT ME

Soon her eye fell on a little glass box that was lying under the table: she opened it, and found in it a very small cake, on which the words `EAT ME' were beautifully marked in currants.

`Well, I'll eat it,' said Alice, `and if it makes me grow larger, I can reach the key; and if it makes me grow smaller, I can creep under the door; so either way I'll get into the garden, and I don't care which happens!'

She ate a little bit, and said anxiously to herself, `Which way? Which way?', holding her hand on the top of her head to feel which way it was growing, and she was quite surprised to find that she remained the same size: to be sure, this generally happens when one eats cake, but Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

Three white cakes, vanilla, and red and black currants.

BPAL’s Eat Me is not for eating. Please use common sense, and remember: perfume oils are for external use only.

    Tried at will call.

First sniff sweet yummy and foody!

On this one is cakey and delicious but it is in no way as heavy as some of the other foody blends (gluttony, beaver moon and the like). This one is so sweet and light I almost lost it at one point and decided to add one more drop to see it out. This is so tasty and might lead some of you over to the foody side.

Before this was brought out to sniff I had asked a labbie how she thought this smelled and she said a watery version of Beaver Moon and I have to say I so see that description in it. There is something slightly watery about this. Maybe Alice had already begun to cry before she ate this little morsel.

  10. Tweedledum and Tweedledee
    Agreed to have a battle!
    For Tweedledum said Tweedledee
Had spoiled his nice new rattle.
Just then flew down a monstrous crow,
    As black as a tar-barrel!
Which frightened both the heroes so,
    They quite forgot their quarrel.

TWEEDLEDEE: Ridiculous! Kumquat, white pepper, white tea and orange blossom.

I tried this one at the willcall and it is so not like I had expected. It starts at a strange green jumble of scents. It is sweet and edible but not quite distiguishable at first. Then as the time goes by it developes fruitier notes. Then on me a sweet lime fragrance came up. It reminds me in some ways of Detox but at the same time is totally different in the back notes. It would make a great refreshing summer scent.

  11. I tried this one at the will call and it is yummy!!

It is a soft nice vanilla others who sniffed it on me thought it was very much like Antique Lace (whih didn't work on me). This was one of the few vanillas not to go plasticky on me. It in fact settled at a beautiful slightly warm vanilla. It is delicious I so agree with the above I wish I could have snagged the bottle!

  12. In the Imp: Pumpkin spice with a touch of apples

On wet: First on uh oh! Plasticy fruit and pumpkin, please change!! Oh thank GOD now its turning to cinnamon apple but its sort of at a Fall Candle scent. Rich, warm and super heavy. As the pumpkin scent comes up the heady Cinnamon candle smell mellows out.

Drydown: I am so conflicted on this one. I both like it and thing it smells too much like a candle shop (not a good thing). It has a nice spice to it but the pumpkin seems to be wobbling between nice and a waxy plastic scent. This is one that will need a retest.

  13. In the imp: A sweeter version of Jack a little pinker in scent

On wet: Again the Jack similarity is obvious a sweet pumpkin. As this sits the pumpkin runs to the back and this becomes a fruity scent. Sadly this disappeard but I reapplyed to try again.

Drydown: A very light nice fruity scent. It seems so strangely simple. This is the scent I hoped fruit moon would be. This is not fruit punchy but clear and nice without being too sweet. Over time a time bit more of that pumpkin comes out. This seems like the perfect scent for an Indian Summer.

  14. Decant Group

    In the imp:

Lemon cleaner, it is a very Heavy scent in the imp

    On wet:

This is a very sharp lemon first on. Slowly a sweetness begins to form behind the heavy lemon. It smells a bit like lemonaid

    Drydown:

This is a very light clean scent with a ever so slightly sweet scent mixed with a smidge of lemon and touch of green which I think is the tea.

  15. Decant Group

    In the imp:

This is one of those pillow mints

    On wet:

Imediatlly I get the same thought this is one of those sweet melt in your mouth pillow mints. The mint first on is so beautifully crisp and clean and then my curse of mint begins to turn a bit "fake". It smells a little bit like mint lip balm.

    Drydown:

I am so shocked that this one seems to have taken a nice turn. This one is all it should have been and that shocks me since mint has been pure evil for me up till now. This one has soften to a creamy mint smooth and delicious with nothing to over the top. Really nice!!

  16. Decant Group

    In the imp:

    A melony scent

    On wet:

This almost smells like a cumcumber melon scent. It is a sweet floral scent as it begins to sit. The melon scent is mostly gone now this smells like something I have smelled before. I can't place if its another Bpal or a perfume I have smelled before.

Drydown: This one for whatever reason hit a point and decided to pack its bags and leave. This on totally vanished on me in under twenty minutes. Too bad it was getting good.

  17. Decant Group:

    In the imp:

On one level I get a scent like Fruit Moon on the other I get Brownie Mix

    On wet:

Yup that puppy is brownies but only for a few seconds. Now its something else I can't quite place. Briefly I got that odd note that made Fruit Moon a bit sore on me. The chocolate came back but didn't hold its more sour with a touch of chocolate.

    Drydown:

This is sadly why I don't wear chocolate. This has a sour plastic scent on me with weirdly a touch of that chocolate still added. Not me.

  18. From a decant group:

    In the imp:

Patchouli, Florals, and a touch or leather. This scent is not quite as masculine as I thought it might be.

On wet: Cardamon and a green floral is what I seem to be getting first. Then suddenly a heavier scent, I think its, yes it is the Leather. Yup it is becoming a think green leather scent quickly. This has become LEATHER its amping a bit on me and getting bigger. But I have to say that greenness is still hanging in there too.

Drydown: :P Where did the spice come from?? I have a dusty cinnamonny clove scent sneaking behind a incense scent. This comes off very similar to Herr Drosselmeyer.

  19. From decant group:

In the imp: Pure carmel candy sweet. It smells like Hellcat without her booze

First on: This seems super true. Very carmel. I am very afraid at first this would go to plastic as it also seems very similar to Midway (which Hates me). But strangely this one tones down fairly light afraid just a few minutes.

Drydown: This was not what I expected from the imp, its so subtle. Its not heavy or cloying in its sweetness. It is a sweet smell that reminds me of the holidays. I wish it had a bit more hold since it fades so quickly. I can see why you had to be Nice for this one.

  20. Tried at Will Call:

This one has such a wonderful scent that is similar to Blood Moon when first on my skin. Its a lovely spice scent with the musk and patchouli. Sadly over time this one morphed on me to a soapy twisted scent which I blame partially on the mandarian which doesn't always like me. Sad too since it was so delicious at the begining.

  21. Sniffed at will call:

This one is pink sugar wonderfulness in the bottle. On my skin it starts to remind me of Pink Moon. Its that same lovely blend of perfect sweet. Sadly on it started to turn on me :P it ends up getting too sweet and getting sadly way out of line. I am still bummed cause I loved the idea of this one and in the bottle its so beautiful!!

  22. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

The End of All Things: empty white musk and mint seeped with solemn lavender, doleful patchouli and vetiver, scythe-sharp yuzu and lime, with geranium bourbon, white sandalwood and calla lily.

In the Imp: A deep scent of musk and patchouli with a subtle flower backdrop

on wet: This scent is not as strong or dark as I would have thought, first reading the description. Its a bit ozoney with its perfect blend of floral and deep. Nothing is coming forward on me everything is in balance making it difficult to pick out any one scent.

drydown: The deeper scents are coming forward but thankfully not the vetiver (which does not like me). This is becoming very patchouli musk forward. The Sandalwood also seems to be coming forward as well while the florals seem to have all ran away. This is a darker scent now. Wow the Sandalwood is making this so nice!

Overall: A well blended scent with a lovely sandalwood scent with at some sniffs the tiniest tinge of white florals to the back.

For me personally I never would have picked this scent since many of the listed notes don't like me at all. I must say its not as masculine as I would have first thought and smells really nice on the dry down. Though its not me I have to say this is one of those scents that reminds me sometimes I have to just give in and try something new even if I think the notes will do horrors to me. This so much nicer then I ever would have thought!!

  23. Tried at Will Call-

This scent starts a little stronger sweet on me but goes to a blend of green and sweet. The thought that kept running through my head was that this one is a green Midwinter's Eve. Its cold and clean with the green as Macha said not piney in any way but a much cleaner green scent.
