  1. The embodiment of Victorian funereal elegance. A delicate sugar-spun vanilla cream cotton, stained by tobacco and incense smoke, Indian musk, and drops of cognac.

I was only given a used cap to sniff but that was enough to get me hooked on this scent. It is this heady dark incense mixed with lush cream. It just makes you tingle. It is truly magical and one that i wish they would revisit!

  2. I do not smell the caramel or honey in this at all. I think it is the Benzoin that I really do not care for. I have yet to smell anything that contained benzoin that I did like. This scent is sharp like bad incense. Not a keeper at all.

  3. This is a more traditional scent. It has a citrus note a lot like mouse's tale but it feels more adult to me. I agree with most of the positive reviews so far. However, this scent is just too light for me and the opium adds a sting that I don't care for. Close but not a keeper.

  4. I love this scent! If i could find a bottle for under 50 bucks i would snag it for sure.

Omg Yummy! Rummy Cheese Cake Goodness! This is exactly what you would expect from the description with just a hint of rum or some other boozy love splashed on top. It stays great on my skin is just a wonderful scent. The traditional lunar blend that is in most of the Lunacy blends does not agree with me at all. I am so glad to have found this one that omits it.

  5. Hmm I already know this is supposed to be straight rum but it does not smell that way to me. I smell cinnamon, and something weird, almost like old cologne, and a honey note towards the end. I would love it, if it were not for that odd old cologne influence. Not a keeper for me.

  6. I am afraid i was not very happy with this perfume. In the imp, smells a bit like very old man aftershave or that bottle of perfume you found way in the back of your grandmother's drawer. I like honeysuckle so i am thinking it is the vetivert or the opium that has that old musty smell to me.

  7. I read that Daemonorops is actually the plant that gives us Dragon's Blood resin. That explains a lot. In the bottle i can smell the fruity current and what i assume is the Daemonorops. This has an "old perfume" scent to it without being dusty like so many others. The amber is present but the honey seems to hide from me. I really like this scent.

  8. Based on this and Boomslang, i am guessing i really like the teak note. This is a little different than the other scents i have. It is not as foodie, which is good for variety.

The Amber and the apple blossom really shine about equal in this. The caramel is played down a bit. My skin doesn't morph it at all. Very nice scent, nothing sharp or odd.

  9. I have to agree with the person above's boyfriend. 51 smells like a very nice soap. Clean and fresh. Great for soap but just not for me. This went right back in the trades.

  10. This scent is FULL of notes I love. Honey, sweet cakes, wine. It smells great in the bottle.

Sadly, it smells like beer on my skin. Yes, beer. Ick. It takes on this heavy yeast smell as it dries and it never seems to settle back into its correct alignment. I was so disappointed in how my chemistry reacted. Normally my skin doesn't change scents all that much, if any. So, this was a shock.

I had my daughter try it and it just smells like faint tea cakes on her.

  11. This is a nice scent. Probably one I would wear if I had not found so many others that I love with similar notes. This has just a bit of harshness at the beginning that overpowers the other mellow scents. I think it might be the mead.

The buttercream and rum are the strong notes here. I can not smell the hazelnut at all.

  12. I get citrus and rose and milk. I like it, it reminds me of something from my childhood. Maybe my best friend's yard... not sure.

I usually do not care for rose at all but this is toned down enough by the other notes that i really like it.

  13. Chocolate covered cherries.... with out the cherry! It smells like the special type of chocolate they use for chocolate covered cherries, and that thick cream that is inside. Very strong. I love this scent!

    Chocolate and vanilla heaven.

  14. My first impression of Sin was not good, it was strong and just a bit bitter.

After the second go with it I like it. Subtle amber but the patchouli is a bit too strong for me. If you are getting this based on the patchouli note, be warned black patchouli is much stronger and has an edge to it.

  15. One of the best scents in the GC. A delicious honey twang but with rich undertones from the wine and dragon's blood. It is warm with the perfect blend of berries. No yucky strawberry. Dark and scrumptious. The kind of scent that makes your head spin.

  16. I do not like the milk moon scents. They are sour like was mentioned above.

I would suggest Mouse's Long and Sad Tale. It is one of my favorites.

I have not smelled Glowing Vulva at Ryogoku Bridge but I love teak. It does not smell woody to me at all, but is sweet and pleasant.

  17. I love Blood Kiss. The honey comes out clearly on my skin. Dragon's milk also has a good dose of honey for my taste.

Kill Devil and Wezwanie/Hold are good for honey as well. Lighter than i like, but i prefer "knock you on your butt scents."

I did not care for Hony Mone. I dislike carnation and jasmine so that did not work for me. Both Milk Moons have honey but the lunar blend makes them smell likes curdled cream to me.

  18. Because of this thread, I was inspired to create an intro-to-BPAL gift for my sister (for this Christmas) based on the Disney Classic Sleeping Beauty. (Grownups can love it, too. :P ) At one point this list expanded to 18 imps, but now I've got it "narrowed" to 12. I was trying to capture the story with both scent and name, while respecting what I know of my sister's preferences. (Apricot and vanilla, no cinnamon. I have a vague feeling she opposes lavender. More to the sweet/light side than heavy or dark. Although BPAL changes many minds...) Here's my current list, along with the concept from the movie it should suggest:

    Snipped

I'm also including a copy of the movie (probably) and a set of un-themed imps based on her favorite notes (apricot/vanilla). It's been tons of fun putting together -- I hope she has at least half as much fun receiving it.

I'm not ordering for a while yet, so tweaks and suggestions welcome!

    Tacey

Some of these you picked already but this is what i would make a 6 imp set of:

For the Princess Maiden - Ars Amatoria - A gentle vision of purity, goodness and virtue: white tea, carnation and Damask Rose.

For when the Raven finds Briar Rose The Raven - Bewitching Brews - Sleek, dark, and ominous. Violet and neroli mingled with iris, white sandalwood and dark musk.

For Maleficent Wicked - Diabolus - Rich myrrh and jasmine draped in the subtlest rose.

For when The Prince is in the Dungeon Love's Torments - Ars Amatoria White sandalwood, neroli, and vetiver.

For Wen she is Asleep The Sleeper - A Demon in My View - Night-blooming jasmine, opium poppy, wild rosemary, Calla lily, oakmoss and crypt musk.

For the Battle The Great Sword of War - Come and See Sin & Salvation - Mandarin, tonka, saffron, black tea, cocoa, tobacco leaf, sanguine red musk and five classical herbs of conflict.

To make it 12 I would add:

For the Pricking of the Finger Blood - Bewitching Brews - A vital, bold scent, throbbing with sensuality. Essence of dragon's blood resin, thickened with myrrh and cherry, with a trickle of clove.

For the Death of the Dragon Dragon's Heart - Ars Draconis - Dragon's blood resin, red and black musks, a throb of fig and a sliver of black currant.

For the Forest of ThornsStrangler Fig - Rappaccini's Garden - Rooty, woody, with deep green tones.

For the Curse Spellbound - Ars Amatoria - Three roses, radiant amber, and sensual red musk.

For the Fathers Toasting Grog - Bewitching Brews - GROG Arrr! Avast ye, matey! This be the scent of pirate rum!

For the Fairies Fae - Bewitching Brews - A brilliant, ethereal scent: white musk, bergamot, heliotrope, peach and oakmoss.

And for your reference here are most of the scents that have apricot.
