  1. In the bottle-- wood, herbs, a creamy note, and something that kinda reminds me of seeds.

    On me, it stays about the same, though the seed-scent comes through strongly.

    After a while, it calms down to a kind of dry, but sweet woodsy scent. The seed-note eventually goes away. I like this phase the best. And oddly, it reminds me of a skelleton in a top hat and suit. O.o

  2. The scent is warm, spicy, and with the amber-resin residue that remains in my warmer, it kinda smells like my mother's oatmeal cookies and mint tea brewing. It's also the most spiritually uplifting thing that I've ever encountered. Not spiritually uplifting in a "white light" kind of way, but in a violent, dark sort of way.

    I was meditating with this on the warmer... the images that kept occuring as I tried to focus on the exorcises that I do, were of me getting torn apart or shattered in some way. It wasn't the horrible experiance that one would imagine. It was wonderful and uplifting.

  3. Something in it smells overwhelmingly like Ivory bar soap, especially in the bottle. However, on my skin it changes. There's a breath of snow, pine and something wild and fay, but feminine. It's not going to be an everyday kind of scent, but definately for when I'm in an odd mood. O_^

  4. Wow. When wet, it was strange and green. It reminded me a lot of Wolfsbane, only with more wood. It dried, and all of a sudden, I was back in a tiny, 10th century church, in the middle of no-where France. It was the exact scent that permiated the building-- wood, frankincense, myrrh, and Mass.

  5. In the bottle, it smelled like cucumber peels and Raita-- the Indian yogurt and cucumber dish. On me... still more cucumber peels. The Raita scent fades, and is replaced by something extremely GREEN and almost floral. It kinda smells like it's an aquatic, unisex scent, leaning towards feminine. As others have mentioned, it'd be wonderful for a hot day, or an evening in summer.

  6. In the imp, it smells herby and minty. On me, it smells like... a very clean, but very evil mint, that's a tad angry. Not what I was expecting with a name like "Pain," but I do like it. :P

  7. I smell mostly butter rum, bay and sassafrass. The rum isn't overly boozy, but smooth. (Thank goodness; most booze notes and I don't get along.) When I first put it on, the clove threatens a hostile take-over, but it talks things out with the other notes and peace reigns. It smells like... an idealized Port-Au-Prince, without the crushing poverty and human rights violations. It also reminds me of the top half of Hellhound on my Trail.

  8. One of the reasons I like BPAL is that their perfumes don't make my nose itch or give me a headache and I don't have to take allergy meds to wear them, unlike most perfumes.

    However, when I put Snake Oil on for the first time, it burned and made my skin red and sensitive. The only other time this happened is when I was taking decongestants for a cold, and tried to wear Selkie. O_; I think the latter reaction was due to a change in personal chemestry. The former... I just have no idea. While I thought Snake Oil smelled nice, I didn't like it well enough to put up with burning. :P

  9. Herbert West is my favorite Lovecraft character, so I was excited to get my hands on this. I wasn't disappointed. In the imp it smells light and citrus-y with the aftershave quiet in the background. On me it smells more or less the same, with some weird, almost shadowy notes coming out. It... does remind me of the face West shows the general populace: the scent of a gentleman during the era of the first World War, with something a bit weird about him.

  10. Upon first sniff, I almost sent it off to the share pile. In the imp it smelled kinda perfume-y and not something I'd usually like. I'm glad I waited and put it on. On me, it smelled rich and resin-y with herbs. And it's STRONG. A little bit will go a very long way. O.o I'm re-reading "Alhazred" by Donald Tyson, and it reminds me of the scene where he comes across a dead woman, preserved with honey and spices.

  11. In the bottle... He smells odd-- not one chord, but several voices. Then, I put it on. Up front is a nice scent that smells like hot chocolate powder. That doesn't last long, sadly. Then, I get musk and the blond woods and a LOT of it. It's not bad-- just strong. I put on too much. O_x; My mental image: An empty church, with wooden pews. In the middle of a random pew, a blond angel sits reading a book, with his legs propped up on the pew in front of him. O.o;

    I later ended up layering my Wolfsbane on top of Aziraphale. :P! My little green things, poking up from a pile of leaves in early spring... were suddenly in a forest with lots of trees and furry little things about. o.O;

  12. I should love this one. I adore Dragon's Blood and Amber... but this broke my heart.

    In the imp, it doesn't smell too bad. Its mostly Dragon's Blood and a hint of amber in the background. Then, I put it on. Dragon's blood and... new plastic. :P The plastic note doesn't go away, but the Dragon's blood fades to close to the skin.

    This one goes off to the share pile. D:

  13. In the bottle-- pine, herbs, and a touch of musk. Quiet, unassuming... smiling sweetly, but his gloves are bloodstained.

    On me-- pine, sassafrass and... strawberry pez? WTF? I'm not complaining, but that was really unexpected. The doctor is making you laugh, and completely ignoring those gloves.

    Much later, the scent has dried down into something soft, close to the skin, and kinda guy-ish cologne. Overall, it's kinda quirky, but I lyyyke it. O^

    Edit: Not just strawberry pez, but lemon pez shows up, too. Again, a rather quirky scent. It reminds me less of the image of Doc Constantine, and more of Cho Hakkai from Gensomaden Saiyuuki. O^;

  14. First, I'd like to say that I greatly admired John Dee to begin with. This scent turned me into a foaming fangirl. :P; Anyways, it smells very intelligent and rather sexy-- like a freshly-scrubbed college graduate in a suit. Or perhaps a young professor? In the very back of the scent, is something that smells like men's cologne and it lingers a bit too long, but otherwise, wow, what a great scent.

  15. I quite liked it, when I opened up the imp: spicy, vanilla, and generally exotic-smelling. Then, I put it on. It burned. Okay, no. I liked it but not well enough to tolerate the burning sensation upon first application. ;_; I think this one goes into the "share" pile.
