    Santa Eularia Des Riu

This is an odd one. When first applied there was a strong smell of limes or some kind of citrus (not like the sweet dose of lemon in Namaste so I'm guessing lime). Just two minutes later the citrus is gone to be replaced by....sage and oregano! Huh. I don't get any of the jasmine others have mentioned. It smells just like I'm cooking a Mediterranean dinner and garnished myself I actually did want more of a flower scent so in the end I dabbed just a bit of New Orleans on over it. Mwahahaha BPAL grudge match - crazy strong jasmine/honeysuckle vs. crazy strong sage/oregano! And the winner is.... mmmmm these two actually work better together with my chemistry than separate. The strong notes balance each other. My Verdict: Hey, some days I DO want to smell like a Mediterranean kitchen

    The Phoenix

I picked up this bottle during my quest to find something aquatic and close to Calico Jack (my love affair gone wrong). It is a delightful fresh slap in the face with salty, tangy sea air. The ozone is very present for a few hours on me and then it settles into a lovely water smell. There was even a moment where the holy grail of scents for this Washingtonian turned up - the smell immediately after the rain when all is right with the world. That phase didn't last long but boy was it good! I woke up this morning and Phoenix was still there when I snuffled my wrist. Huzzah BPAL!

    Hay Moon

This was the scent that ended my BPAL virginity and I was really excited about it. I grew up on a horse farm and one of the scents that makes my memories of home fire up is the scent of dry grass and hay. Now that I'm stuck in Chicago for school I was dying for a whiff of the farm, so it made me really sad that all I got was cardamom and amber on the initial drydown. I thought "huh, maybe this is just a very poetic perfume company". Later though I could have jumped for joy because when I hopped in the shower and it started to wash off I got it!!! Hay absolute and dry grass! So maybe this one just needs to stay on me until it has almost faded for me to get those beloved notes but I'm really looking forward to testing it again. The bonus was when my husband smelled it and asked "What are you wearing?!??" before tackling me

    Calico Jack

Why god why?!?!?! I love Jack. Love him! I put him on and thought "this is the scent you've been looking for all these years". Bright, fresh, salty sea air and leather - this is amazing! Then my husband got home and I pounced on him saying "And what do you think of....THIS! It's my new favorite, signature scent that I'm going to wear every single day!" Husband: "Um...I hate to say this...but that smells exactly like the perfume my grandmother used to wear." cricket....cricket... Me: "Your grandma smelled like a pirate?" So alas! Jack, I love the bejeezus out of you, but I'll be wearing you only on days where I don't see my husband. I guess that does make it a romantic love affair...

    Greed

I'm going to have to go with hlinspjalda on this one. This was included with Black Annis as an extra imp in a BPAL shipment. In the bottle I was kind of excited. I LOVE masculine scents to the point where my husband's response to several of my perfumes is "....you smell like a dude...". I usually take that to be a good thing but sadly not with Greed. It gave me that thick-in-your-throat feeling when I smelled it on dry. It did indeed smell how I imagined a fifty year old wealthy stockholder would smell and not in a good way. It did seem to last a long time and I finally had to wash it off. So long Greed! You're spending some alone time at the back of my sock drawer to see if you'll mellow out in a year or so.

    Black Annis

This was an imp included in my first shipment from BPAL (yay!). After reading some of the reviews I was a little leery but figured "let's just jump right in". I absolutely loathe licorice, but I didn't get that scent at all from this. It's really hard to describe, but wearing it I felt this urge to hide behind a bush and drag some unsuspecting unfortunate back to my lair to do some nefarious acts. Seriously. No perfume has ever affected my mood in quite this way and I'm going to follow others' lead and chalk it up to the civet It was very dark smelling and if anyone wants to get themselves in a diabolical mood pretty quick - slap on some Black Annis! I know I will whenever I want to feel like a bad, bad woman
