    Zarita, the Doll Girl (2006)

I was soo hoping to love this since anything with the word 'creamy' in the description hooks me every time. But unfortunately Zarita was not to be my doll. In the bottle and on my skin she is a biting orangy floral with a bit of a peppery kick. She's way too sharp and astringent for me. I didn't get any cream at all. In fact my eyes hurt when I open the bottle to merely sniff. Hopefully my bottle can go to a good home.

    Ostara

I knew when I ordered this that there was a big chance i wouldn't like it. I don't usually do wel with the 'sun' type blends, and sadly this one was no exception. In the bottle: Uhoh....pine-sol cleaner with an extra burst of orange and flowers. Wet on my skin: Even more pine-sol mixed with some very sharp citrusy-florals. Dry: It stays the same but just softens up. I never got any of the creaminess and honeycakes I was so desperately hoping for, and which were the main reasons I took a chance and ordered this one. Oh well, off to the swap-piles.

    Pink Moon 2007

Not quite sure what to think of this one yet, but since I was not a fan of the original 2005 version , I went ahead and orderd the 07 version since the description made it seem less fakey-strawberry sweet. In the bottle: I was definitely relieved to sniff and not get any hint of the cavity-teeth-rotting sweetness that was in the 05 version. Big relief! Wet on the skin: This is definitely softer and for me a bit muskier. It's got almost a tiny bit of Peeps type marshmallowness to it, but only touch of it. I'm not getting a terrible amount of carnation, which is a good thing, but it's definitely there. To me it's a musky carnation. Drydown: Definitely a keeper, but I'm not sure I need more than one bottle. The adorable label alone is bottle-worthy.

    The Knave of Hearts

When sniffing from the bottle, it definitely smells familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. Lots of warm, buttery baked goods are involved. Wet on my skin: Still the warm, butter baked goods, but mixed with.... potpouri?? Then it hits me, this smells like a really strong candle, or when you're walking through the candle/potpouri aise in a store. Hmmm. Drydown: This last hours for me, even after an hour of running I could still smell it somewhat. I never got much rose, which is fine with me because I was very leary of the rose. But that could be the rose that is reminding me a bit of potpouri. It just smells too much like a generic foody/dried spice candle to me. Does anyone else get pumpking out of this? Because it reminds me a tad of Jack, but I adore Jack. Verdict: I am very much a foody-scent person, but while this is nice, it's just not for me. I bet it would be great as a room scent though. Especially in the fall/winter.

    Boomslang

Upon first sniff of the bottle I thought I opened up a bottle of Freak Show by mistake. For me they share the exact same cocoa note. I was hopeful! Wet on my skin, it was that same Freak Show cocoa note but with lots of Snake Oil. Now don't start stoning me, but I've never been a fan of Snake Oil, and never will be. There's something about it that reminds me of Campho-phenique, and it makes my nose curl. So why did I invest in Boomslang if I don't like Snake Oil? Easy, the hopes that the cocoa, vanill, and rice milk notes would somehow drown it out. But sadly that wasn't to be the case on my skin. It screamed the lovechild of Freak Show and Snake Oil on my skin for the next hour. Drydown: Pure, straight baby powder to my nose. I'm terribly sad this one didn't work for me because I desperately wanted it to.

    Kanishta

I wasn't sure whether I should go for 'The other woman' or not, because the Lab's jasmine usually turns a metalic sour on my skin. I've always been a fan of anything jasmine that LUSH makes, so I guess I've been spoiled so to say regarding jasmine notes. But not being one to give up hope on a bpal jasmine that will finally work for me, I decided to give Kanishta a go. In the bottle: Quite strong floral. Definitely jasmine and something else, but I'm not sure which note it is. Probably the opium. Wet: Even more jasmine. Definitely a bpal 'signature' jasmine on my skin. Drydown: This one is allll jasmine on me. Nothing else. And then it hits me, holy CRAP!! This is LUSH's Flying Fox shower gel and solid perfume. Absolutely no doubt about it! So for any FF fans looking for a liquid perfume version, this is the baby for you! Eventually a little bit of soft, powdery mangolia turns up, but not much. I was hoping I would get much more patchouli, but alas I didn't get a single whiff of any. Having said that, this is a lovely jasmine blend and definitely a great addition for any Lush FF fans.

    The Candy Butcher 2006

My sweet little Candy Butcher, why must you evaporate so quickly on my skin?? If it weren't for that I would most likely search out more bottles of you, but when I literally have to shove my nose into my skin to get whiffs of you, it's just not worth the effort. Wet on my skin I was VERY worried because it was a strange and slightly burnt plastic on me, but soon enough it turned to a delightful creamy, chocolate floral, but still on the plastic doll side. I don't really get any of the Snow White comparison that many others seemed to get, and I was really hoping I would. I can slightly see what they're referring to, but only a glimpse of it. But true Snow White is so much more gorgeous. In short: This is a delicious, creamy candy but way too subtle.

    Asp Viper (2006)

Oh wow, at first, this was so much better than I had ever expected it could be! I'm actually not a huge Snake Oil fan, but I couldn't resist the almond possibilities. So when I first apply it, it is absolutely delicious almondy snake oil. If only it had stayed that way. Sadly it quickly dries into sour almondy snake oil with a kick of old-lady perfume.

    Lick It Again

*swoooon*. This is simply delicious. To me it's exactly the same as the original.... or wait. In the beginning it smells the same, but I do believe LIA wears off quite a bit quicker than the original. But it's still got that same sweet and creamy peppermint goodness.

    Creepy

Mmmmmm *drool* This is like Jack, Miskatonic U and PP#2 got together for a threesome! I almost didn't try this one because I was afraid it would be 'just another apple scent'. But boy was I wrong. Thankfully for my foody beast within, I couldn't stand back from missing out on any possible caramel goodness, and I'm so glad I gave in because this is YUM!

    Pumpkin Queen

I have to agree with everyone else who has compared this to a lighter version of Jack. It's definitely less buttery and less spicy, but still very delicious and perhaps a tiny bit more posh. But my heart is still loyal to my beloved Jack. PQ is nice, but Jack's the King.

    Monster Bait: Underpants

This is really a delicate, lovely scent! I was expecting a more foody scent so I was rather surprised to get such a soft, sweet floral result on my skin. It doesn't last long on me though, which is the only sad part. This is like the perfect scent for someone who is afraid of perfumes or smelling too strong. The gentle, sweet saffon is just gorgeous. Beautiful.

    Omen

Sorry to any fans of Omen, but after my one time testing it, I never ever want to have it on my skin or smell it again. To me it just smells 'dark' and it honestly gives me the creeps. It put me in a very fearful mood right after applying it, and it didn't hit me for a couple of minutes why I felt so weirded out all of sudden, but I felt very unlucky and afraid for several minutes. To me it smells just like a funeral parlous. I honestly gave me the eeby-jeebies.

    Schwarzer Mond

Weirdly enough, Schwarzer Mond smelled exactly as I expected it to smell, and I was afraid I might not like it. It reminded me of something right away, but it took me a while before it hit me that this is a perfect blend of LUSH's Red Rooster and Karma soaps. Not that it smells 'soapy', but it reminds me of an exact blend of them. So any fans of LUSH's now departed Red Rooster soap will love this, even though this doesn't even list cinnamon in the description. Very interesting scent, not sure it's me though.

    Twilight

I admit I was a little afraid to try this one because the lab's jasmine and I usually don't get along very well. When wet, a very playful yet slightly biting jasmine comes out and quickly turns to jasmine soap on me. After it dries, it calms down significantly and reminds me of some perfumed locket I had as a little girl when my family lived in the Philippines for a year. Definitely a trip back in time. Very much a bpal jasmine, but not an aggressive, overpowering one. Very nice.

    Purple Phoenix

I had to get Purple Phoenix because well, I love most 'purple' scents and have to try anything that has fig, plum and wine grapes in the description. When I first opened the bottle I immediately smelled something that reminded me of 'Poison', that dept store perfume. This made me a bit afraid, but I persevered. There was something lovely and fruity about it and I'm assuming that was the fruit notes I mentioned above, but at the same time I kept getting those wafts of dept. store Poison. I held onto this one as long as I could because it is Purple Phoenix, but it was just to strong and perfumey for me, and I was never a fan of dept.store Poison, or Elizabeth Taylor.

    Snow-Flakes

Against my better judgment from reading the description, I decided to nab a bottle of Snow-flakes after reading so many reviews comparing it to my wonderful and precious Snow White. Anything compared to Snow White I must try because I've been hoarding my bottles of it for so long in fear that the lab will never release it again. Alas, Snow-Flakes was absolutely nothing like Snow White for me. On me it was pure pine cleaner and powder. Nothing else. I was so disappointed and hoped it would morph but it never did, no matter how many times I tried it. Pine scents and I just do not get along.

    Montresor

I was sooo looking forward to my bottle of Montresor because it sounded right up my alley. I was hoping it might be a twist on my beloved Bordello. From the bottle: Fruity medicine Wet: Even stronger fruity medicine but with a very strong herbal kick. I'm getting really scared at this point. Dry: Finally it becomes like fruity blackberry wine with just a hint of the herbalness. I love this stage! While Montresor finally dries down to a lovely fruity-vanilla wine, I simply can't handle all the herbal mediciney booze stage that it goes through on me for the first 30 mins. Makes me so sad.

    Monster Bait: Underbed

My first of the Monsterbaits! When first applied I get the same dry pencil-shaving/cocoa mix I get from Velvet, but with an even drier cocoa. But wait 15-20 minutes and great mother of all things bakery-sweet! This little monster comes out from under the bed and sits right on your neck to snuggle up and purr next to it! This is absolutely delicious and wherever I go I can hear people saying to each other 'something smells GOOOOD!!'. I just smile cat-like and sniff my intoxicating-scented wrists again.

    Faith

I am not usually a floral person so I was very iffy on whether Faith would work for me and my skin chemistry or not. But when you throw in 'sugar' to any description, I'm usually hooked. In the bottle Faith smells just like it's description, lovely sugared violets. When I put it on, it smells like the nose-cringing bathroom freshener from an old lady's house in a powdery floral scent. I'm so disappointed during this stage but I keep sniffing for the next few hours to hope it will change. 12 hours later, when I wake up and take a whiff of my arm.....wow. It finally smells the way I had hoped it would initially. It's creamy sugared violets. I love it!! But I can't smell it unless I stick my nose to my arm. I just wish it could smell this good in the wet stages because even while it smells gorgeous now, I'm not sure I can go through the scent of the wet stage everytime.

    Smut

What a great freakin’ word. BPAL LOVES TEH SMUT! Three swarthy, smutty musks sweetened with sugar and woozy with dark booze notes. This review is for the 06 version. I don't know why, but for some reason I was always too afraid to try this Smut. I was simply scared that it would be too strong or O-like for me. Boy was I wrong. I can't believe I've missed out on such a fabulous blend for so long. I seriously became weak in the knees when I put this on, it was that good. The first thing that came to mind is that it reminds me of a softer, flirtier version of LUSH Karma perfume. I love Karma, but sometimes it's got too much of a sharp bite for me. Smut, on the other hand is like the flirty little sister. Love it! eta to add vintage year.

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

Holy juicy fruitiness!! For the first 30 minutes I got very wet and vibrant swirl of tangy fruits coming at me. It's like there was a different reaction on each side of the forked tongue of this snake! Snake Oil on one side and juicy, tart fruit on the other. After an hour this had dried down to soft, powder vanilla on me. I much preferred the first hour, but I'm so glad I received a decant of this from such a kind and generous forumite!

    Bordello

This one is amazing. So amazing that it tempted me to write my first review on this board *so nervous*. Thanks to the lovely PennyPretty, I was able to get a 5ml of this. I admit I was a bit wary of it because I hadn't even tried an imp of iet yet, and was already preparing myself for having to swap it away. But today, when it arrived, I was so very pleasantly surprised! This scent is so gorgeous and intoxicating to me. I simply find myself sniffiing my arm ever few seconds. To me it's pure plum wine, berries and vanilla deliciousness. I know the description says amaretto, but to me it's more like vanilla, which I love. It's not too heady at all, which I was afraid it might be. It has just the right amount of throw and scent to it. Just perfect. It has definitely stepped into my top 5 catalog scents.
