    Unseelie

I haven't worn this one in a long while, but I feel guilty putting it up for swap without giving my $0.02 here, so: Unseelie is a gorgeously sweet, fresh scent in the bottle, but it turns to complete baby powder on my skin. I could certainly see using it for kick-ass body and bath products, if I made that sort of thing, but it's not the kind of perfume I would actually wear on a day to day basis.

    Blood

This is my second favorite Dragon's Blooded scent, the first being Bloodlust, of course. The two scents are like sisters: one raven haired and latex clad, sexy as hell and lethal in word and deed; the other a stunning blond in a tight red dress, deceptively sweet and tantalizingly seductive. To me, Blood is the latter sister. I can see how the clove might turn sharp on some people, but thankfully, on my skin the spice just adds warmth to the overall scent, rounding it out and keeping it from getting too sweet. Gorgeous. Hmm...might have to go for that large bottle afterall...

    Bacchanalia

My experience with Bacchanalia was similar to Xoe's, unfortunately. Usually, BPAL blends containing civet behave rather well on me, though, so I think that it may just be the concentration, not the ingredient, that is the problem. On my skin, Bacchanalia is probably about 90% civet and 10% angry musk, with no sign of grape or orange blossom. I feel bad using this emoticon in a review, as I am 110% sure that this is the be-all-end-all of perfumes on someone else's skin, but it is a pretty good caricature of me wearing Bacchanalia: The masculine blends and I really don't get along.

    Golden Priapus

I think I am going to have to sniff this one just once more, to ensure that I am not crazy, because I really, really, really disliked it. So much so, in fact, that I had to wash it off right away, although I waited as long as I could to see if it would change. It makes me sad to say anything negative about a BPAL, but it does seem as though none of the "masculine" blends like me. The pine really came out badly on me, and I didn't catch the slightest whiff of the vanilla and amber notes! It was just...not my cup o' tea, in the least. This is certainly one for the swap pile...with any luck, it will end up in the hands of someone whose chemistry it will work wonders with.

    Good scents for travelling, vacations

    Which scents do you own?

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

*nods* I may have to start doing that, too. I've got a lot of bottles coming my way in the next month or so! Also, the imps are a touch more convenient to carry around for touchups. Good plan, Chin!

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

Excellent. Just checking. It is incredibly hard, though, with the Gaelic words, to try to discern the pronunciation from the printed version, when coming from an English background, eh? I would LOVE to learn Gaelic, but the transcription intimidates me.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

I'm so glad this thread was started! I never would have gotten "Bow-vhen Shee' out of Baobhan Sith, and never in a million years would I have gotten 'doreen' out of 'eidolon'. You do realize that Doreen is her name, not the pronunciation of Eidolon, right?

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Exactly! That's my excuse, and I'm stickin' to it. I absolutely cannot believe it's the end of June...I've been off school for TWO WHOLE MONTHS and haven't really accomplished anything! Oh well, tons o' time till September, right?

Oi. I really need to stop posting when I haven't had enough sleep. I thought it was still the middle of June!

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Actually, Beth has stated that the Lab's turnaround time is three weeks right now, so if you ordered on the 15th, you should probably wait until July 6 to email them if your order hasn't changed to CCNow "Shipped" status. Extra emails=less time for the Lab to pack and ship the precious to us=even longer wait times! That said, I ordered Blue Moon too, and I can't wait to try it!

    Persuasive Scents

I wore Snake Oil to a recent job interview, and, well...I got the job! It is a wonderful scent; it's definitely a 'sexy' scent, but it is warm and comfortable and inviting at the same time so it is never too sexy, if you know what I mean. I've also found that it lingers in people's minds---several times now I've been asked what perfume I was wearing on a previous day or even week, so obviously they remember it well!---which would certainly be a boon on the job seeking front.

    Estimated ship time.

See, Beth's timeline is the Lab's timeline...it doesn't include the amount of time packages spend in transit, because the Lab has no control over that. An approximate of 4-6 weeks would be including shipping, and would be subject to an incredible amount of error due to that uncontrollability of USPS. It's a good thought, though.

What BPAL is the most like Shalimar?

My mother commented awhile back that Glasya reminded her very distinctly of Shalimar. I'd definately recommend giving it a go. Since you're buying for your mother, perhaps you could get her a few imps of possibles, and give them to her with a "gift certificate" sort of thing that she can redeem with you for a bottle? That way you get to give her something really special, and there is no chance of buying her a bottle of something that really doesn't work with her skin chemistry. Good luck!

    Are custom scents available?

    I love that...that's seriously awesome. BPAL-Anon, anyone?

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

Fixatives (and preservatives) make the whole less natural, though, don't they? (I don't really know, I'm just guessing here!) I think...but this may just be me...that the purity of BPALs is a large part of the attraction, but whatever you decide, Beth, we'll stick with you!

    Different smells/colors, same perfume

I've heard about this happening with a lot of different scents...the problem is likely the fact that one of the imps was not stored correctly. Because they are in clear vials and not amber or cobalt, sunlight can alter their composition. Also, if they are left in a warm place(at someone's home or in the mail, etc) that can change their composition as well. If I were you, I'd try to get a third imp of it, preferably from the Lab (that way you know it is reasonably fresh, and it has had less time in the mail to get damaged), and see which of the other imps it is like, and assume that that is the true Hellcat.

    CCNow Questions & Problems

It could be that it gets charged to your card whenever the next CCNow pay schedule date comes up...

What do bottles and labels look like?

I checked out the Chateau Bizarre page, and I think those bottles are both still available if you special order them, but you'd have to check with the Lab for confirmation on that. The 1/8 round clear bottle is in that picture as well. And Tygher, thanks for posting that pic of the new imps! I still adore the old ones, but anything that makes the Lab's lives easier is okayfine with me!

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

Uhm...this is just the randomly compulsive environmentalist in me going off, so do not be offended, but why do you throw them out after one use? I'm sure a single swizzle stick could last for quite a number of uses...and that way you wouldn't have to throw so much away...

    Dilution and Carrier Oils

I slather straight, too! For some reason, that sounds odd. I usually put a bit of lotion/balm on my pulse points first, though, so that my skin doesn't soak up the scent as fast.

    Blue Moon Update: Now Live

I ordered 10mLs of Blue Moon, O, Embalming Fluid, and June Gloom. I fully intend upon wearing Blue Moon if it smells good on me...I don't tend to do much ritual work, so I rarely (if ever) have the need to use a ritual oil, but I guess if I felt the need to I would also use the preciousss in that context.

    Blue Moon Update: Now Live

It's just a small order, really...just a few 10mLs...not so much as you'd notice! I ordered 10mLs of Blue Moon, June Gloom, O, and Embalming Fluid. Don't you admire my restraint?
