    Sibyl

I was so excited that I found someone to pick me up a bottle and I couldn't wait to try it. In the bottle: I get a lighter version of Dorian, which is my favorite BPAL next to Snake Oil so I had high expecations. On my skin: The first few minutes of this on my skin are not pleasant. After about five minutes, it's a soft rose scent. Darn you tea rose. Why must you take this over? Every other note was perfect and while I was worried about the rose, I didn't expect it to take it over. It doesn't whack me over the head and it's soft, but I can't stand rose. About an hour later I'm getting a little bit of the honey, but the scent is starting to fade. I'm honestly not sure about this. While it's actually a rose I can wear, I don't care for florals.

    Blue Pumpkin Floss

I am a pumpkin fiend and I love blackberry, so this scent is a match made in heaven and I was really excited to try it. In the bottle: Spiced pumpkin, no blackberry note to speak of. On my skin: On me, the spiced pumpkin mellows out and the blackberry starts coming through. It's nice and creamy and sweet pumpkin with a hint of spice and blackberry. I am completely in love.

    Are bpal blends all-natural?

There's an update tonight? Jeez, where have I been? I might stalk. No school tomorrow.

Persianmouse, need you make fun of everyone? It's not necessary. You don't agree with the original poster, but it doesn't mean you have to insult her. Obviously, she enjoys commercial perfumes like we enjoy BPAL. It's not a bad thing and she is entitled to her opinion, just as much as your entitled to yours. And there's no reason to be sarcastic and mock her. However, you dohave a point. Bottles and packaging make up a great deal of the price, despite the product. You also pay for the name of the brand and if there's a celebrity endorsement, you can bet the price will go up. It can be perfume, clothing, handbags, make-up. Doesn't make a difference. You're not always paying for quality. In response to the original poster. Try the perfumes first and make your opinion. If you don't like them, that's fine. But at least you tried them. And try not to let what anyone else says affect how you feel about them. Keep in mind though, oils are different than commercial perfumes. They're not low end cheap stuff. They're just different. And both are good in their own way. I still love some of my commercial perfumes. But BPAL plays different on the skin. Test them on your skin before you toss them aside. The components change when they hit your skin. It may be a change you like or it may be a get it off feeling. Either one is fine, but at least you tried it. Of course, there's been commercial perfumes that have done that to me as well. Some work, some I want to scrub my skin off to get rid of the fragrance (Chanel No 5 did that to me. High end perfume. Smells like crap on me). In terms of ingredients, I don't know what Beth uses, so I can't say anything there.

    Scent for Halloween?

I wore Cake Smash on Thanksgiving because I could lol. I spent a while over my box wondering what on earth to wear and finally pulled one at random lol. For Christmas Eve, I'm already planning on wearing Dorian again. And not drop it into the toilet bowl this time lol. Christmas will probably be Snow White.

    Crib Girls

This is the strangest thing I've ever smelt, because it doesn't smell like I thought it would at all. I was expecting honey and spice. Instead I get Fruit Loops. Not bad, just not what I was expecting. Good thing I like the Fruit Loop smell. On my skin, it's still Fruit Loops with a hint of spice, which I assume is the Cardamom.

    Countess Willie

In the bottle and on me this is Bordello's grown up sister. It's almost identical to Bordello but with a slightly darker edge, which I think is a bit of the red musk. But if you like Bordello, you will like this as well.

What do bottles and labels look like?

Any pictures of the District scents?

    Black Annis

I received an imp of this in my last order. This is a blend that by all rights should not work on me. On me, it's a smoky anise. I don't like anise. I don't like vetiver or civet. So why is this so lovely on me? I love it.

Any pictures of the Yule labels yet?

    Cake Smash

Ok, so I knew this scent and I were meant to be. Oh yes. This is lovely, lovely cake. With a hint of Dorian and Snake Oil. That's really all I need to say. I need another bottle...or two.

    Whoso List To Hunt

There is no reason this should work on me and to be honest, I only wanted an imp because of the name itself and my obsession with anything Anne Boleyn. And yet, surprisingly, I LOVE this. In the vial it's very rose. And it's like that on me for the first few minutes. But the drydown is amazing. I get a nice musky amber rose that's very soft and elegant and I love it. I hate rose and it normally gives me an intense headache. But this rose doesn't whack me in the head screaming "I'm rose here me roar!". It's definitely a soft, demure rose and I'm going to have to add a bottle of this onto my next order.

    Stinky

In the bottle: Honey and baby powder. Nice and soft. On me: sweet lovely honey with just a touch of powder. This is sooo good. I love it. I'm going to need another bottle, as I think this will become a go to scent.

    Tomoe Gozen

I have no idea where this one went wrong. Perhaps the pink pepper. I love amber, red currant, blackberry and honey. In fact, they are some of my favorite notes. But this one turned too floral for my tastes. No idea where that note came from, but definitely not from the bottle. It smells nice and fruity in the bottle. On my skin, it goes all wrong.

    Gothic Horror

In the bottle: Rose. A heavy rose, but not so heavy that it went into instant headache territory. On me: Rose. With something else backing it that I can't make out. Oh, it's the clove. And something a little powdery that I'm thinking is possibly the myrrh. Unfortunately, the powder is a very sharp powder note and I'm not too sure about this. I'll leave it on for a bit and see what happens. About an hour later. The sharp powder scent is gone, leaving just the rose and a little bit of spice. And it's not as heavy as it was. It's quite nice. ETA There is now some vanilla type scent coming in to play on me, backing the rose and just the hint of spice. I'm finding myself quite enjoying this.

    Temperature and BPAL

Thank you. Hmm...I may have to move them downstairs for the summer. It's normally cooler down there than in the rest of the house.Thank you. Hmm...I may have to move them downstairs for the summer. It's normally cooler down there than in the rest of the house.

    Temperature and BPAL

Bump to see if anyone knows whether or not it's safe to refrigerate oils. It got hot here sooner than expected and I don't know what to do with the BPAL to keep it safe.

Looking for a BPAL that Resembles a Favorite Perfume

Anyone know if there's a scent that smells like Bath and Body Works Breathe Romance? It's described as a sensual amber myrrh. ETA official description: Scented with lovely, sweet papaya wood, seductive myrrh, and honeyed orange, this sensuous amber myrrh fragrance will inspire true romance and total wellbeing whenever you need it most. It was my favorite for years and all I wore through high school and to my proms. I'd love to find a dupe for it.

    Velvet Dogs Playing Poker

In the bottle: Coffee and tobacco. Love. Wet: Much the same. Dry: Mostly a nice, sweet smell. Can't quite place the notes. Not coffee or tobacco or cedar, but a nice mix of all of them. I'm in love.

    The Deserted Village

In the bottle: Patchouli and something I can't identify. Wet: This smells like a cologne my pop-pop had. But it's not dark and dry, nor too masculine. Dry: A soft patchouli. The currants come out a bit and what I think it's the orris root, making it a bit dry. I like this.

    Elegba

I got this as a frimp from the lab in my last order and I put it in my frimp box, which I use to frimp other people. For some reason, I was going through it today and gave this a sniff. I'm so glad I did. In the vial: Coconut. Lovely coconut. Not sun tan lotion coconut. Wet: Same. Yum. Dry: I'm smelling a little bit of the rum, some coconut and something in the background. It's a sweet scent and light. I love it and definitely need a bottle. This is nice. I get a whiff of rum every now and then, but it doesn't make me smell like a lush.

How do you apply your BPAL oils?

I was using a thin crochet hook, but it used too much oil. So, now I use a straightened out paper clip. I know it sounds funny, but it's the perfect size and it can be wiped or cleaned off and used again.

    413 U.S. 15 / Miller Vs. California

In the vial: It smells very green. Wet: Still green, a little bit of the berries are starting to come out now. No paper bag or leather or cognac. Dry: Still green. I don't know about this one. It's headache inducing. I'll update later after it stays on a while. So far, not impressed. Little bit later: Where'd it go? If I sniff closely, I can smell creamy berries. I really don't think this ones for me. I'll keep my decants but I don't think I need a bottle. Later still: Ok, it faded, but it's back again. Creamy berries. Nice, but I don't know if it's worth a bottle still. I want the leather to come out. Last edit, I hope lol. Wow. This has some throw. I am very rarely ever able to smell myself. And I only used a little bit of this. Apparently, I amp berries. Now how come blends I actually like don't amp like this lol.

    Mr. Nancy

This one turned strange on me. In the vial: Lime sugar cookies On me: I thought it smelled like pure sugar cookie, until my brother said "pancakes!". And yes, it does. It smells exactly like Pancake Breakfast on me. I like it, but where are the lovely lime cookies?

    Morocco

I cannot pick out any notes in this. It's just so well blended. But it's a nice creamy almost vanilla scent. It's like wrapping yourself in a warm fuzzy blanket and I'm going to be wearing this one a lot.
