    La Belle au Bois Dormant

I got this in a swap; I was a bit leery of the plumeria because I'm not a big fan, but... Wet this is floral, but not too sweet or strong. I can make out the pear lurking in the background. Dry the pear is a bit stronger and the scent is a little fruity but not overpowering; it balances out the florals nicely. Drydown similiar to the dry stage. This was nice a light with pretty good staying power. I did re-apply at noon but I'm not sure if I'd have needed to. This is a definite contender for my spring scent. I was very pleasantly surprised.

    Two, Five & Seven

Wet, this is very winey and fruity with just a hint of rose. The rose comes out more as it dries, but it's still very fruity and winey. It smells a lot like Blood Rose on me, only lighter. I'll use up my 5ml, and happily, but I don't need two boozy, fruity, winey rose scents and I like Blood Rose better.

    London

London proves that I should try all BPAL scents twice before giving up on them. When I first tried this it was acrid and sharp and dried down to a thick, heavy sour rose. Ick. Since I'd bought a 5ml, I tried it again before putting it up on the swap board and what a change! It was a perfect tea rose with a bit of a twist--just like the description. It also lasted for hours. Perfect!

    Voodoo

This smelled like a burned-out fire with the black ashes sending thin streams of acrid smoke in the air. I tried it twice and it always smelled like fresh ashes. Must be the patchouli. Patchouli hates me. Amazingly evocotive, but I don't want to smell like this. Off to swaps, I'm afraid.

    Midway

First off, I love the label with the skull-adorned, spiderweb-like ferris wheel. Midway smells like caramel, stale popcorn, butter, vanilla, and sugar. It's absolutely amazing! My stomach growled all morning from the delicious smells and I kept getting sniffed by my co-workers. By mid-afternoon I would have killed for a caramel apple. This would make a fabulous room scent, but I'm not sure if I'll wear it to work anymore--it makes me eat too much.

    The Red Queen

This was a freebie from the lab and I probably wouldn't have tried it on my own, as I'm a bit leery of berry scents--they tend to go all Bubble Yum on me. This one though.....wow! It's all dark, sweet cherry in the imp and on my skin for about 1 minute, then it morphs into a rich woody scent with the faintest hint of sweetness. I wouldn't mind if the cherry hung around for a bit longer, though I think that's my wonky body chemistry since the cherry note in Blood disappeared in less than a minute, too. The scent isn't terribly long-lasting either, but I really like this. This is a strong contender for the big bottle list.

    Alice

I admit I was a bit leery of this at first since milk scents tend to go powdery on me but thanks to some quirk of chemistry, Alice worked. Wet, this smells predominantly like carnation but the carnation is backed by the rose and it's a bit spicier than carnation normally is. The milk adds a warmth and fullness to the scent. Drydown, the rose comes a bit more to the foreground, but this is still carnation's show. Dry, carnation and milk with just a touch of sweetness from the honey. It didn't last overly long, only 4-5 hours, but it's worth re-applying. I even got compliments on how nice I smelled. I think I may have found my spring scent! This goes on the big bottle list.

    Maiden

Wet, this smells of carnation. A single, fresh, white carnation. Dry, no more carnation. Now it's a light, fresh rose scent. I never got any of the white tea, and while this is a nice, light scent it was completely gone in 3 hours. It's nice but not a big bottle scent.

    Nuit

in the imp: sweetly floral with a hint of musk wet: jasmine and rose are in the foreground and the musk is stronger dry: the musk is dominant with a hint of sweetness This was a freebie from the lab, and I likely wouldn't have tried it on my own since musks don't work really well on me (not to mention I'm a little leery of jasmine after I tried "Wicked") but I really like this. It's very feminine and soothing. I wore some to bed last night and had lovely dreams. This is a winner.

    Wicked

in the imp: JASMINE!!!!!!!!!!! wet: JASMINE JASMINE JASMINE!!!!!!!! drydown: Jasmine... dry: dried roses that were suffocated by JASMINE Too much jasmine; it gave me a headache. I had high hopes for this one, too.

    Thirteen (13)

in the bottle: strong white chocolate smell (yes, there's no such thing as white chocolate but this smells like the white stuff they call "white chocolate" and not like the brown stuff that is chocolate. Anyway) with a faint floral smell hovering in the background. wet: white chocolate and oranges. Mmmm....oranges. drydown: white chocolate, oranges and flowers. The flowers are faint, just hovering in the background. dry: white chocolate. While this seemed to fade rather quickly, I'd still get an occasional blast of white chocolate even after 7 hours. It isn't what I expected from a scent called "13"--I suppose I expected something more evil -- but this is a creamy, light, yummy scent that I really like.

    Blood Rose

in the imp: very strong fruity wine scent which reminds me of Nosferatu; that's just fine because I love the winey fruity note in Nosferatu. wet: still strong fruity wine, but I smell something a bit powdery--I assume that's the dragon's blood resin. It's not baby powder; I like this powder. Occasionally I get a faint hint of rose, but it's very fleeting. drydown: the fruity scent is blending with the powder and they're perfectly balanced. Sometimes I get a hint of spice. There's no rose at all now. dry: fruity powder, and I mean that in a good way. It lasted almost all day, which is good. I bought this because I love roses, but even though I never got any rose off of this I love it. I'm so glad I bought 5 ml! I'll probably reapply during the afternoon, though; this isn't a scent locket perfume. It doesn't come to life until applied to the skin.

    Lilith

In the imp this has a berry scent with a hint of spice. Wet: wild and spicy! I could love this--makes me feel dangerous. Dry: once again my wonky body chemisty turns a perfectly good scent into baby powder.

    Nosferatu

in the imp: strong sweet red wine. wet: still wine, but there's an undertone of something dark and a hint of herbs. drydown: I'd smell a wave of dried herbs and dirt, and then a wave of sweet wine. The scent changed every time I sniffed my wrist. dry: sweet dried herbs. Very complex scent. I"ll use the imp and this may go on my big bottle list.

    Lucy's Kiss

imp: it smells almost sour at first, then I get a hint of a thin rose scent wet: smells like rose, but still thin--almost like the smell of dried rose petals in water that have been soaking a couple of days; dried rose with a backing of sweetness that could be the beginning of rot. Damn, that's right on for Lucy Wisteria. I'm seriously impressed. dry: the rose scent is rounder not and that hint of rot is gone. There are side note that I suppose are the spices, and they keep this from being too overpowering. It's lasted well, too; almost half a day and with my BPAL-sucking skin that's very good. I like Lucy--I'm buying a big bottle of this.

    White Rabbit

in the imp: Powdery, then cream and a touch of spice. Nice. Wet: still a bit powdery, but the spice is stronger and I can smell a whiff of tea. dry: POWDER! Johnson & Johnson baby powder to be precise. Seriously, I had people ask me if that's what I was wearing. I really wanted to like this. Ah well, I can't control my body chemisty. Stupid body chemisty.

    The Apothecary

in the imp: it smells heavy, sweet, and brown. wet: still heavy, but now there's a faint undercurrent of herbs and it isn't as sweet. I feel like I'm in the back room of an herbalist, and it's dark and dusty; every so often there's a burst of a sweetish smell. dry: like the wet, only fainter. I like this, but it's not what I expected. I was expecting it to be greener and lighter. I'm going to have to quit with the preconceptions.
  18. 13bodies

    Black Cat

in the imp: Mint, but not any particular mint, just mint with a hint of sweetness beneath it. wet: still the mint, but it alternates with a floral-herbal scent. dry: amazing--it has an "incense-y" scent that smells exactly like my tabby cat. It lasts well, too. I like this.
  19. 13bodies

    Dirty

in the imp: fruity, with the scent of clean clothes in the background. wet: now I smell it; it smells like the freshly laundered white t-shirts my brother wore when he was a toddler. dry: didn't change much, it just faded (in a few hours, but I've found my skin eats most of the scents. Stupid skin) Because of the association with my childhood this scent makes me very happy. It would be nice and comforting to wear.

    Envy

in the imp: very sharp and green. I can't distinguish any of the notes wet: still sharp, but the lime is strong now, and I can catch a hint of mint. dry: a bit powdery (but that's my wonky body chemistry) and mint. I never caught the lavender at all. It's nice but a bit sharp. I layered it with some Embalming Fluid and they went surprisingly well together.

    Embalming Fluid

in the vial--very green and slightly sweet wet--still very green with a hint of citrus. Smells a lot like EA's Green Tea, but I think it's a bit more complex and a bit sweeter. dry--my skin just sucked this scent into oblivion. It didn't last more than a couple of hours, but I got a LOT of compliments during that time. (How fun was it to answer "Embalming Fluid" to those asking what I was wearing? The looks on their faces ) I like it, but it didn't last at all. I'll try it in a scent locket to see how that works.

    Zombi

My first review! I'm a bit nervous here... in the imp: Very strong rose scent. For a minute I thought I'd opened Lucy's Kiss instead. That calmed down after a minute and it now smells like roses and earth wet: Still roses, but not too sweet. I can smell wet earth and a hint of dried leaves drydown: I can't stop smelling my wrist! Dry roses with a hint of dried leaves and earth. One person here at work said I smell like the Christmas ornament boxes when she takes them out of storage in the winter. I love roses, but strong sweet rose scents tend to give me headaches. This seems to be the perfect compromise. And it lasts almost all day. Gotta get a big bottle now!
