    Zombi

I used to be a big fan of roses, but had gotten rather tired of the scent over the years. Zombi's bringing back the love. I can't stop huffing the crook of my elbow. This is not a classic rose, nor a headache inducing rose, but it is certainly ROSE. I'm catching whiffs of the dirt, moreso on elbow than wrist. It's rather like walking into a freshly turned rose garden at night. I'll wear this when I'm wanting to feel feminine...with a dangerous depth. *wanders off, singing 'Now I'm Feeling Zombified' under her breath*

    Boomslang

At first try of a decant, back in January, I liked this, but not enough to order a bottle. Or so I thought. Something made me curious, and I pulled out my now nicely aged imp. Just like my love affair with Snake Oil, it needs some age on it. It is thick dark chocolate, to me not foody in the slightest. It's incense, smoke, sex and high end chocolate. It's a bit messy - stains my skin, but I won't wear it in a locket since it needs contact to do that voodoo that Snake Oil do. It morphs, it wafts, but stays close to me like a lover...feeding me dark deep chocolate. My new fresh from the lab bottle? eh. But give it a few months...

    Thirteen (13): July 2007

Oh, lordy am I glad I gave in and ordered a bottle. First on its all chocolate with a capital C. I'm walking in a cloud of dark cocoa...not a bad thing, but I only dabbed a bit on one wrist! But after about a half hour, the cocoa has mellowed to a base note and my nose is filled with sweet flowers and honey. The cocoa comes through, certainly, but ...er...dryer. More powderish. I'm in love. I love the label! Pink and green is one of my favorite combinations.

    EPIC BPAL Spreadsheet Thread

Thank you so much! For some reason I couldn't get this one to go into one box...though I am very excel stupid sometimes.

    Snake Oil

I've obtained a two year old bottle of this... oh...my...god. Unreal spicy sweet incense love. I've worn this fresh and it didn't blow me over, but this! I need at least 2 bottle to stash away in a closet. I cannot keep my nose away from my arm. I totally get the Snake Oil fan club now! Sign me up!

    Milk Moon 2005

This is actually my second bottle - the first one I mixed with Flower Moon, as I didn't like Milk Moon on it's own. Then I was given a second bottle recently, and aging has worked it's magic, it seems. Sweet milk. Comforting like a fuzzy blanket. I'm getting an almost minty herbal undertone - that must be the lunar oils. Originally this went sour on my skin, but now it holds true. I love this!

Normally anything that says refreshing makes my sinuses ache, but I have an obsessive need to own all the forum exclusives. Am I ever glad I'm obsessive! Finally something that works! It must be the musk making this work for me...this is lime and mint and aloe. It makes me happy just to sniff it, and it cleared my head of morning cobwebs.

    Melisande, The Puppet Mistress

Very very jasmine...which normally I don't really like, but I ordered this in the hopes that the musk and violet water would balance it. They do. The drydown is a beautiful floral musk. I'm so happy I took a chance on this!

    Theodosius, The Legerdemain

This is Dorian in coitus. I slathered my boy in this...Dorian is my fav on him, but this is way better. Unbelievable sexy goodness.

    Mme. Moriarty, Misfortune Teller (2006)

This is gorgeous! A tad bit fruity in a sea of musky sweetness. Add me to the list of those who cannot wait for this to age.
  11. I use a strange combo of sorts - Charisma on the palms of my hands, Coiled Serpent at the base of my spine, and Phantom Queen everywhere else. Then I'm shiny! Yeah...I get stage fright. *eyeroll* Also, trial and error has taught me to stay away from aquatics or sharper florals...they're fine for everyday, but make my throat all funny when I sing.

    White Light

Wow. I'm not leaving my house without my bottle. Last night, I happened to have it with me at rehearsal...honestly I really don't remember how it wound up in my purse. I'm sure I put it there, but when and why? No idea. Anyway, my band and I are a bit stressed right now...we have a big show to prep for, we're headlining, it's only our second show ever, and we didn't have enough songs. We've been writing like mad, and now we have enough material, but now we're having a hard time remembering the 'older' songs that haven't been touched in a few weeks, due to the writing frenzy. Yeah, we're getting a bit snippy. Not bad, but that energy is there, you know? The dark 'could' of impending frustration. I always have a bottle of the scent of the day with me. Usually at some point during the evening I reapply. I reach for Budding Moon, and come out with White Light. I can take a hint. Anointed chakras and palms, rubbed palms together and inhaled. The boys both raise their heads and say "What's that smell????" It filled the room, and I swear I didn't use that much at all. No more than I've used before, and it never blossomed like this. I told them what it was. One reaches for the bottle while the other says "One of her magical ones? No thanks." Meanwhile the one with the bottle is gleefully applying with a giant grin on his face. "I don't care what it's for, man, but just the smell makes me feel good. More good energy? All good, man." *heh* We nailed the song next try, made a schedule for working out the rest of them, told stories and smiled and laughed. Nope, never leaving my house without it. Beth, many many thanks.
  13. Coiled Serpent always makes me feel up when I'm down...especially if I dab a bit at the base of my spine.

    Black Dahlia

Lovely! Magnolia and orchid, sweetened with rose and darkened with amber. The jasmine never really comes out at all on me. This scent, for me, is the South. Beautiful, yet somewhat decayed. Sultry and coy.

    Marie

This came to me as a frimp from the lab, with my boy's order, so a nice surprise for me! I ^never^ would have ordered this on my own, even though I love rose blends. Usually I want rose with something darker, like amber, and not all floral. As usual, Beth takes my expectations and puts them on their head. I love this. It is certainly floral, but somehow manages to be dark and slinky and sexy as hell. Big bottle for sure!

    Al Azif

Based on the description, I was expecting something much much heavier. More incense-y. A sniff from the bottle is like that, but on my skin it is more the memory of incense. What you smell when you walk into a room that has been closed off for a while. Someone burned nag champa or amber in there months ago. It's faded and soft, maybe just a bare hint of a floral tone. Overall I like this, but I don't love it, and don't think I'll reach for it too often. Maybe as a room scent. I'll have to try this one on the boy. I think this would work much better on him. edit to add - Oh my. I've been in the process over the last year or so of ruthlessly culling my collection, putting scents in a holding cell of sorts. Today I started going through the boxes looking up descriptions and such. I don't know what kind deity whispered "sniff it" in my ear when I picked Al Azif up, but boy howdy am I ever glad I listened! This has aged incredibly, into what I hoped it would be 5 years ago. It's soft dark resins, deep almost caramel sweetness, no floral at all. I feel like I've been given a precious gift! So beautiful. Not only is it saved from the cut, it's a new favorite.

    Dragon's Milk

I adore dragon's blood on it's own, so I was a bit wary of trying blends. So glad I changed my mind. Honey scents work very well on me (with the exception of Kali) and this one is delish. I love a scent with a bite, but this mellows to a lovely warm nibble. Spicy, sweet and creamy, without being cloying. Relaxed yet ready for anything.

    Miskatonic University

coffee coffee coffee at first. Soon the cream/ whisky combo creep out. Yummy, though I'm not sure I want to wear it. VERY foodie. And then, on me it went through this strange mid period. It wanted to be coffee, lickable and nummers. It wanted to be woody. It wanted something... I don't know what, but I wasn't very fond of this stage. Then the dust comes out, the coffee fades a bit, and the wood mellows the whole thing, and I'm in heaven. Reading my favorite old hardcover in a bed with a wooden headboard while waiting for my lover to bring me the coffee he's prepared heaven. Yeah, I'll wait a few hours for that. All hail the Beth!

    Black Rose vs. Spellbound?

I agree with babykitty. Spellbound did not work for me at ALL, but Black Rose is in my top 3. Go fig.

    Bastet

OMG. Wet in the bottle I wasn't too keen on trying this. It smelled like cherry candy, and I'm not a fan of sweet or cherry scents. BUT stubborness pays off, as this is delish. It's creamy and a little almond without foody and it's warm and oh so very lovely. No cherry at all. And my cats seem to like it. Must order a bottle. NOW. *totters off to the website, abused credit card in hand* edited 'cus my spelling is rotten this morning.

    Hemlock

Yep, green. Green with an icepick to my temple. This is the first one I had to wash off because it started to give me a headache. Far too sharp/ herbal for me.

    Blood Amber

I'll post a more comprehensive review when I can get the imp...IF I can get the imp...away from Spooky (the BF). But! I did want to mention that this is pure boy-yumminess. I can't wait to try it myself! On him it's just....yeah. Very very good. Big Big bottle. If you are looking for something sexy for a male, go for this. If it's your SO, don't leave the house without a bat. If you stay in, enjoy!

    Akuma

hmmm.... Sniff from the imp - Hello Sweet! Almost cloying. On my wrists, at first it's just sweet...bright and sweet. As others have noted, very candy like. As it drys, though, it starts to get a bit darker. Maybe a little...powdery? Reminds me of crushed red pez. Over the past two hours I keep sniffing...I really can't tell if I like this or not. It is making me hungry, though! I love testing freebies! Though I doubt I'll get a large bottle, this would make a nice scrub.... I prefer more incensey things, but if you like fruit, this is a good one!
