Three interpretations of Black Moon are now live at Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab.
The Dark Moon is a time of secrets and hidden truths, of veils and binding, justice and revenge. It is sacred to the Crone, and to Gods and Goddesses of magick, death, and mysteries. The Black Moon has many meanings, but in any incarnation, it signifies a swelling of power. To us, it is the Blue Moon’s dark sister. This month, we are sharing three interpretations of the Black Moon’s energy.
BLACK MOON 2011: BETH'S CREATION
The absence of light: black orchid, motia attar, mugwort, English pear, jonquil, violet leaf, myrrh, opoponax, crystal musk, ylang ylang, and 5-year aged patchouli.
SCHWARZER MOND: BRIAN'S CREATION

- Trading Posts Whispering Branches Moon shirts have arrived in house, but the t-shirts are a dark charcoal gray, a bit darker than we were expecting.
- While we are bringing all of a general catalog scents to Bats Day, as well as our Gaiman’s, Last Unicorns, etc. There were a few scents that could not be made due to a component issue, such as Rogue, Cleric and Halfling. About COHEN V. CALIFORNIA
“For, while the particular four-letter word being litigated here is perhaps more distasteful than most others of its genre, it is nevertheless true that one man’s vulgarity is another’s lyric.” Justice John Marshall Harlan II
In April of 1968, Paul Robert Cohen was arrested for wearing a jacket emblazoned with “Fuck the Draft” inside a Los Angeles County Courthouse. He was convicted of violating California Penal Code § 415, prohibiting “maliciously and willfully disturb[ing] the peace or quiet of any neighborhood or person [by] offensive conduct,” and was sentenced to thirty days imprisonment.
The California Court of Appeal upheld the conviction, and the California Supreme Court denied review:
On April 26, 1968, the defendant was observed in the Los Angeles County Courthouse in the corridor outside of division 20 of the municipal court wearing a jacket bearing the words ‘Fuck the Draft’ which were plainly visible. There were women and children present in the corridor. The defendant was arrested. The defendant testified that he wore the jacket knowing that the words were on the jacket as a means of informing the public of the depth of his feelings against the Vietnam War and the draft.
In affirming the conviction, California’s Court of Appeal held that offensive conduct translates to “behavior which has a tendency to provoke others to acts of violence or to in turn disturb the peace,” and that “it was certainly reasonably foreseeable that such conduct might cause others to rise up to commit a violent act against the person of the defendant or attempt to forcibly remove his jacket.”
However, the US Supreme Court granted a writ of certiorari, and the case went off to the highest court in the land. In essence, the Supreme Court had to decide whether or not Cohen’s unseemly speech was punishable or protected under the auspices of the First Amendment. The Court held, by a vote of 5-4, that “Absent a more particularized and compelling reason for its actions, the State may not, consistently with the First and Fourteenth Amendments, make the simple public display of this single four-letter expletive a criminal offense.” Cohen, by way of his “Fuck the Draft” jacket, was not tossing out “fighting words,” and was not provoking violence through his sartorial display. The Court denied the State the broad power to control its citizens in the name of creating a clean, civil society through the censorship of public discourse: “[T]he issue flushed by this case stands out in bold relief. It is whether California can excise, as ‘offensive conduct,’ one particular scurrilous epithet from the public discourse, either upon the theory . . . that its use is inherently likely to cause violent reaction or upon a more general assertion that the States, acting as guardians of public morality, may properly remove this offensive word from the public vocabulary.”

Black Phoenix has donated a gift basket to help refill the local food banks, as part of the Second Annual Women in Horror Month Celebration at Dark Delicacies.
People who bring in five (5) canned food or nonperishable food items will be entered into a special raffle to win some very unique prizes. One of the prizes is a gift basket from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab and Black Phoenix Trading Post, containing a selection of Lupercalia perfume oils, as well as bath oils, nail polish, soap and socks from Black Phoenix Trading Post.
The drawing will be held on Saturday, February 12th at 5pm. You need not be present to win.

We would like to officially invite you to the second year’s festivities for Women In Horror Month celebrations in Burbank, California at Dark Delicacies!
Dai Green and Reyna Young have teamed up with Sue and Del Howison to bring this exciting event to the friends and fans of women in the horror genre and to celebrate our strides in the industry throughout the years while also meeting up for two great causes!
February 12th, 2011 we will be having a food drive to benefit the Burbank Food Bank and a clothing drive to benefit The Covenant House whose mission is to reach out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offer them opportunities to turn their lives around.
Each person who brings any of the following items:
Five (5) canned food items
Every day Essentials (Large & Plus Sizes needed!), Underwear, socks, gently used bras, T-shirts
Clothing and Accessories (Large & Plus sizes needed!) – Professional and casual clothing
appropriate for older teens and young adults – shoes, ties, belts etc..
Personal Items – iPods, Walkmans, watches, jewelry, cologne, perfume, bath and body gift packs, sunglasses, batteries (all sizes)

We will no longer be accepting preorders at West Coast Will Call, with the exception of orders for Twilight Alchemy Lab oils. We will do our best to accommodate all orders, but sales will be based on availability. At this time, Twilight Alchemy Lab oils will only be available at Dark Delicacies via preorder. Items from Black Phoenix Trading Post will be available at Dark Delicacies, subject to stock on hand.

Weird question but is any retail store authorized to carry Twilight Alchemy Lab? I think I remember Black Broom was years ago but their site says nothing about it..
A Trip is planned for Cali in March but have no idea if the will call will be happening around that time period... and so want to smell a few of the TALs before I jump if for a bottle.
No, at this point TAL oils are not available for wholesale.

FYI, due to extreme weather conditions, some of our scents, including perfume oils, atmosphere sprays, bath oils and massage oils, may cloud or separate.
This in no way affects their quality; they are still fine to use.
