  1. I had some reservations about this blend, but I tried it anyway. It was nice in the bottle, but quickly after applying it, my skin amped up the anise/licorice/herbally part of it, and not in a good way. I'm not terribly fond of anise to begin with, so perhaps it was just my own perception, but I just could not deal with this. It's a shame too, because it is a very skillfully blended scent, but just not very "me."

  2. In the bottle: Slightly spicy and very floral

Wet on Skin: Damn, this is masculine! I really hope that it mellows out some. I can really smell the frankinsense, and quite a bit of the violet. The cinnamon isn't very apparent, however, which is too bad, because I love spicy scents.

    Drydown: Blech! Cloying!

Final Analysis: This went entirely soapy on me. I like it in the bottle, but it does not mingle well with my chemistry at all. No sign of cinnamon, either. :P Maybe I'll try it on my SO.

  3. In the bottle: Fresh ginger with a hint of sweetness underneath.

Wet on Skin: Oh no! This is lemon and fresh ginger. While it smells very clean, I would much prefer the spicy goodness that I keep hearing about. Panic...

Drydown: Aaaah, there the spices are. There's still that gingery tang, but the spices are really warming this up.

Some hours later: I smell of spicy goodness. I wouldn't say that this smells like gingersnaps, but maybe the spices that go into gingersnaps. It's sweet, too, but not overwhelmingly so. Definitely a keeper.

  4. In the bottle, this was all chocolate. I didn't think that you could capture white chocolate in a perfume, but this was very specifically white chocolate.

As this dried, it became a little more orangey, but the chocolate was in the forefront. This smells fabulous, but I don't think I want to smell quite this much like food (and I like foody scents!)

Eventually, this morphed into a beautiful symphony of all of the notes in it, and it was gorgeous. I would LOVE to smell like this does on my after four hours of wear. Unfortunately, I don't want to wait four hours to smell that way. I would like to swap this, but I have a feeling this will be a "I'll just give it one more try," scent, and that once more turns into the rest of the bottle.

  5. Bottle CDLX (460)

In the bottle: Smells fruity and very candy-like. There's some kind of not that makes my nose tingle that I can't quite place.

Wet on skin: Bubblegum! Fruit flavored bubblegum! I'm really hoping that this morphs because while it smells delicious, it's not quite the grown-up scent that I had hoped for.

Drydown: Well, the gum scent has gone away and is replaced by cotton candy. Smells very tasty, and slightly warmer than it did. Very sweet.

Final Verdict: It smells wonderful, but it's not very "me." I'm not really into pink scents. I might give it another try, but I'll probably swap it.

  6. Hmmm, my 3/25 Paypal order still hasn't shown up, and I'm getting kind of worried. It's only my second BPAL order ever, and it's my first Paypal. Am I freaking out for no reason, or is this normal?

ETA: When I ordered it I did not get a confirmation from the Lab. When I emailed them about the confirmation a couple of weeks later they said all was well. But that was almost three months ago!

  7. I received an imp of Intrigue in a Lush swap.

In the Bottle: Very sweet, chocolatey and foody, with a hint of darkness.

On my skin: Beautiful! I'm not big on chocolate scents, but the cocoa in this is subtle. Fig and wood notes are prominent. It remains sweet, but not cloying.

Final Verdict: This may be my first "big bottle" scent. It's very sophistocated and perfectly named.
