    La Belle au Bois Dormant

When I first tried this on I thought it quite similar to Ophelia - nice enough, but since I already have a big bottle of Ophelia, no need to try any further. But about an hour or so later I started smelling a juicy, fruity smell under the florals, which has to be the pear. The overall effect is a fragrance that is rounder and more full bodied than Ophelia. I'm on the fence about a big bottle, I really like this, but I still wonder if it isn't too similar to other florals I have to buy a big bottle. I may have to try Endymion to see if I can get this yummy pear note with a slightly different floral base. Oh, the throw and lasting power on this one is also excellent.

    Aeval

I was sure, sure I was going to love this one - it's Irish (so am I) it has tonka (love it) it has sweet pea (super love it)...ah, well, the best laid plans. On me Aeval is pure tonka, I don't get sage or sweet pea at all, which is odd because in Corazon I get lots of sage. As much as I love tonka, I prefer it as a base note rather than the featured player. I do think this is a gender neutral scent - any guys scared off by the sweet pea shouldn't be, it's not a primary note in this blend.

    Belle Époque

This has been a very odd scent for me. When I first put it on, I was hit with a very strong floral mix. The florals were full bodied and I pictured huge, sweeping gowns. Without looking at the scent description, I though I smelled rose and possibly gardenia. Turns out that that was completely wrong. In the next stage I didn't smell Belle Epoque and all and I remember thinking that this was another weak scent that was destined for the swap pile. I forgot about it and gradually became aware than something smelled gorgeous - and it was me! On the drydown (probably as much as 4 hours after application) Belle Epoque is a fabulous sweet, warm sandalwood vanilla mixture. I love it so much I'll be getting a bigger bottle for the drydown alone.

    Alice

When I first put this on I get a very gentle, pretty rose. Eventually this morphs into a more spicy rose, which has got to be the carnation coming into play. At no point do I notice the milk (though I'm not really sure what I'm looking for there) honey, or bergamot. This scent is very light. Though I slathered it on my skin (even the normally very potent bosom spot) I couldn't smell it at all after the first hour. It kept going strong in my scent locket though, but it didn't waft nearly as much as most of the lab's other scents. All in all very nice. I think if you're a fan of Beth's rose scents you should at least give this one a try.

    Siren

This must have been seriously reformulated, because I don't get ginger or floral at all and it seems others got ginger very strongly. On me, Siren is almost single note apricot (very similar to Katharina). It's very pretty and fruity, but not particularly complex. That's too bad, I actually really wanted the ginger to come out in this.

    Frost Moon

This must be attack of the lotus - I've never tried a lotus blend before, but now I totally understand what you guys are saying about musty bubblegum. I didn't buy this initially and was so sad I missed out. I've been searching for a blend that smells something like buttermints (snowblind, where are you?) I love Cold Moon and am okay with Wolf Moon, so I was hoping this blend would work on me. The top notes are a lovely mint that I'm really enjoying, but underneath there's this nauseating candy smell. Based on other comments, its got to be lotus. Oh Frost Moon, I had such high hopes for you but off you go to another home.

    Ice Queen

A majestic blend of precious pale musks, brittle winter blossoms, spruce, and frozen winter fruits. I love this oil. I didn't order it when the Yule LEs were released (I went for Snow White instead, what was I thinking?) but was able to buy a decant and then instantly tracked down a bottle. When Ice Queen first goes on it is very, very piney - too much so. Fortunately this phase dies after about 30 minutes. What is left is a lovely fresh scent. The pine is still definitely there, but much toned down and a soft floral, fruity scent develops. I can't explain it and maybe it's just the power of suggestion but this does, in fact, smell cold. Ice Queen and Cold Moon are very similar to me, but different enough to warrant owning both. If you love Cold Moon, you're going to love Ice Queen and vice versa. ETA - I don't get haughty and distant from this one at all. This is my kick butt, don't mess with me scent. The woman I picture wearing this has a fabulously tailored black suit, perfect shoes and bag. She's smart, independent, and totally in control.

    'red' scents

Red makes me think of amber and resins - maybe like Red Moon?

    Grog

This does smell exactly like a Lifesavers butterscotch candy initially. On the drydown it smells like...Scentual Pleasures Pink Cupcake scent. Exactly like it, which doesn't help those of you unfamiliar with Scentual Pleasures. The best way I can describe it is a kind of chemically pink frosting - not chemical bad, more chemical like not homemade (maybe it's the preservatives...) Too bad, I really love the initial scent, but I'm not as in love with the drydown. This scent lasts a really long time and seems to have good throw.

    O

O starts out all honey on me and then morphs to a cherry lolipop smell with a musky undertone. The oil I've applied to my skin seems to disappear instantly and I'm not even getting a lot of throw from my scent locket, which is unusual. This is definitely a skin scent and those of you who have a hard time getting scent to stick around may find this one impossible to deal with. I like this, but not enough to get more once my imp is gone.

    Oberon

To me Oberon smells very much like a woodsy commercial men's perfume (like English Leather or Old Spice - wow, that's a common sentiment and I wrote this before I read all the other reviews!). It is very, very strong. My husband put two tiny dabs on his neck and it was all I could smell for hours. I don't really care for it. It's too overpowering and "normal." I also would consider this a very, very masculine blend (and this is coming from a girl that really loves some of the gender neutral blends). I didin't get any of the citrus or floral notes others have mentioned on either my husband or myself. Not to my taste or my husband's and will be going up for swap. On the plus side, this has amazing throw and lasting power.

    Ultraviolet

Maybe I don't really know what violet smells like on me, but all I really note is the eucalyptus. I like this scent very much, but this falls in the super-short lasting BPAL category for me. Within an hour of application, this baby is gone.

    Spellbound

I get patchouli/hippy shop too. Wet, it's a pretty, if sort of dusty, rose scent. Immediately upon drydown, it goes to patchouli, which is odd since that's not an ingredient of this oil. I'm sort of on the fence with this one, I have no problem with patchouli, but I think I like Lust better.
  14. Got Sacred Whore in a swap and I love it, love it, love it. It's so warm and sweet. What other scents are similar to this one? I'd love to get more in this same scent family.
  15. Sort of...I'd hate to take that option and have no recourse if the package did get lost. Again, none of the other bath and body business I patronize (and there are many, unfortunately for my wallet) run their business that way. On the other hand, it so rare that packages get lost forever that this option would probably work out fine.
  16. I have to disagree. I work until well past the last delivery of the day and there's nobody around in my three unit apartment building to sign for packages. I've had no end of trouble with packages getting sent back to the USPS (or UPS) and me having to find a way to "spring them". I understand the problems the lab is having, but I don't think all of the missing packages were stolen at the point on delivery. It sounds far more like they were stolen/lost/destroyed at the post office (particularly because things seem to be going so much more smoothly now that Elizabeth's using a new post office). Almost no other companies, with the exception of my winery, require signature confirmation.

    Queen Mab

Ugh, I hate to be the lone dissenter here but I really can't stand this scent. I'm sitting here suffering through it right now. I'm sure this is a body chemistry thing, but on me Queen Mab instantly went sour. I think that may be the sandalwood, but on me this isn't a delicate scent, it's quite sharp. Even better, I think I'm allergic to it as I now feel I have to sneeze constantly. I hope this fades soon.

Bridal BPAL - BPAL for weddings?

You know, the custom scent thing was the first thing I thought of! I'm just not so sure I can justify spending over $100 on it with all the other expenses...hmmm....must consider... I know this has come up before, but has anyone done a personal consultation? I'm just so afraid I would spend all that money and not like my scent.

    Dana O'Shee

Yep, it's snowcake, but better. Defintely smells like marizpan, but a little sweeter than the LUSH version. The only problem is that this one doesn't really last on me at all, a couple of hours and it's gone. I'm willing to put up with reapplication, though!
