  1. This is absolutely WONDERFUL: a warm, spicy, sexy, sinful scent that nonetheless isn't extremely heavy or agressive--just enough to get one in the mood :P I can smell the leather from Dee, a wisp of patchouli, a soft undercurrent of ambery booze, and the gorgeous spicy kick of cardamom.

    This has shot straight to my top-ten list, and I'd buy a gallon if I could.

    (To anyone who's interested: Sin+Dee creates a very similar effect!)

  2. First of all--LOVE the label! Prolly my fave BPAL label so far, besides Mi-Go :P

    Pine, eucalyptus, and sugary candies--that pretty much sums up Snow Moon for me! Very, very similar to Snow Bunny, although I think I like this one a wee bit better :D

  3. This is a very tough scent for my nose to pin down, so please bear with m :P;

    The first note that pops out to me is something that strikes me as orange blossom, even though it's not a listed note. I think it might be a juicy orange note corrupted by patchouli. The background is a peculiar yet very unique amber-paper base; once in a while I get a slight whiff of lavender, but that note otherwise seems unconnected to the rest of the blend.

    I'm torn about Clio. I LOVE the paper/amber base, but the orange note feels thin and...wierd...I'll try it a few more times to see if my opinion solidifies one way or the other.

  4. And when Terpsichore, with iris-plume,
    Bade o'er her lute her rosy fingers fly;
    'T was pleasure all -- the fawns in mingled choirs,
    Glanced on the willing nymphs their wanton fires,
    Joy shook his glittering pinions as he flew;
    The shout of rapture and the song of bliss,
    The sportive titter and the melting kiss,
    All blended with the smile, that shone like early dew.

    The Whirler! She is the Muse of Dance and the Dramatic Chorus. She holds both a lyre and a plectrum. Terpsichore is the mother of the Sirens by Achelous, the River God. Bright, joyful and expressive, her scent is kinetically charged, graceful, and an inspiration to all dancers: vanilla and carnation with neroli, iris, stephanotis, sweet pea, apple blossom and palmarosa.

    Initially, neroli is the strongest note--floral and herbal with a characteristic sharpness. The sweet pea and apple blossom make an appearence shortly after, with the palmarosa adding a playful bite. The vanilla and carnation only become evident upon drydown, unfortunately (unfortunately because those are my two favorite notes in the blend :lol). I can't really talk about the other notes because I'm not especially familiar with them :P

    I would call this a neroli-based blend, as that note seems to dominate throughout. It's a soft floral/herbal with a breezy, clean softness that makes me think of blends such as Annabel Lee and Juliet. Very playful and pretty without smelling too flighty =)

  5. The only other perfumes I can think to compare Snow Angel to are Ava-Luxe's The Blanc and Fresh's Lemon Sugar, but Snow Angel blows both of them out of the water.

    Sparkling and effervescent without aid of any alcoholic note, Snow Angel does indeed smell like sugared lemon--actually, more like sweet, idealized lemon, for although there is a very slight tartness, it doesn't smack of lemonade at all. There is a soft, light floral element and a refreshing tea note that provides the foundation of the blend.

    To sum it up--sparkling lemon-sugar floral tea sprinkled with flower petals. Lovely!

  6. One thing I love about Scherazade is that it's SO strong and potent that I only need to mix a little into body oil...since I'm currently on a body oil-making spree, I'd love to hear suggestions for other super-strong, super-concentrated scents (ie--not Dana O'Shee or Snow White! :lol) that I can mix into a base of body oil (or the bad, for that matter) without breaking the bank =) ty!

  7. 05 version

    I must say, I like this better than the 04 version, which had such a strong doughy milk note that it made me sick after half a day of wearing it.

    The O5 version, oddly, doesn't seem to have the "flour" scent that pervades most BPAL "baked goods" scents. It does, however, have a sweet rum note, which is fortunately quite appealing to me, despite my general dislike of rum notes.

    In fact, the best way to describe Sugar Cookie O5 is this: eggnog+sugar cookies--ta-da!

    A pity it lasts all of 10 minutes on me =( although it does mix very nicely with Three Witches.

  8. Pure soft, golden mineral powder, very much reminiscent of heliotrope, actually, and particularly Tarot: The Sun. I definately get the Egyptian Amber, but it doesn't smell "fluid" like the single note does...instead, I get a crystalline powdered tranparency.

    This is lovely--cozy and warm. Not quite as OMFG!!! as I had expected (I had hoped for something creamy, and this certainly isn't) but it's surprisingly comforting nonetheless.

  9. This stuff is HARD CORE! Not sweet and soft and wimpy like incense sticks, but the real stuff, somber, heavy, and somewhat sharp (from the frankincense?). This is definately a blend that needs to be sniffed from at *least* a few inches away (pressing my nose to my wrist, I get a very sharp dill smell). I get a sappiness, and a waft of dark, powdered minerals, as well as the woodiness that coulrophobe describes.

    Interesting...I have no idea where/when I'll wear this, but I'll hold on to some, just in case.

  10. A sweet, slightly spicy pine, not nearly as "bright" as Dublin or Skadi, with a twist of citrus and an almost alcholic note. I can detect a sweet perfumey note in the background.

    This is Skadi and The Hamptons' lovechild...appropriate, I guess! :P

  11. A whiff of pine, then butter and carmelized sugar (like Sugar Skull) and a nice warm nuttiness. As it dries down, the pine note dissapears, and eventually all that's left is mapelly sweetness. Nice, but it doesn't feel very distintive =(

  12. In the bottle and initially on my skin, Beaver Moon smells like cinnamon frosting and bready cake (bready like Gingerbread Poppet is bready, if that makes sense). As it dries it develops a thin, saccharine sweetness and a nauseating quality that I can't stand at all :D (note that I LOVE foody blends :P)

    I thought I'd like Beaver Moon, but it ended up being one of the very few BPALs that make me feel sick, along with Satyr and White Rabbit :D

  13. Smokey cologne!! :D

    Definately smoke curling through rain-drenched fern...not bad smelling at all, but...unnatural, somehow...:P...

    Ahah!! It's a faintly rubbery leather! Interestingly enough, this smells more like real leather to me than other BPAL leather blends (which just smells like wood blends). Postmodern is what I'd call Geburah...postmodern...

  14. Ahhh yes...honied cherry almond! This reminds me a lot of Dana O'Shee, actually, but less milky and more cherry. The cherry has a snippy, almost playful little bite to it, and the composition has a pudding-like creaminess...a nice, comforting blend, and probably the only Sephiroth I'd wear as a perfume.

  15. Ooooo dry, herby woods...like a branch lying on a forest floor must smell like after a rainfall...

    There's a bit of citrusy tang here I can't pin down.

    A nice blend, but it has the odd effect of simultaneously trying to calm me down and pep me up! The woods are soft and soothing, but the tinge of citrus keeps smacking me upside the head!

  16. The rose note here is REALLY odd...it's like the antiseptic aspect of the rose note found in Persephone distilled (I get no actual rose whatsoever). I get a woodsy underlay that smells like sawdust...

    Ugg...I don't like this one AT ALL :P

  17. Of all the Sephiroth, I had been wanting to try this one the most!!

    Hmmm...apple...not golden, like the Hespirides (sp?), but "greener," like granny smith. There's also a butteriness to the blend, and a nuttiness (although no peanut butter...cashew butter, maybe?), as well as a non-foody cinnamon that wafts throughout, adding more of a spicy edge than an actual cinnamon smell. The apple note soon fades (not surprised--it seems to be a top note), leaving the nuttiness and spice behind. My favorite of the Sephiroth so far, but still nothing I'd buy a big bottle of.

  18. A deep, soapy, "gummy" myrrh and heavy florals...no, more like a heavy wool blanket stored in the attic for 10 years after being stored with medicines and pontifical incense. A heady, meditative blend (which, I'm sure, was its intent!) with a feeling of *history.*
