  1. I call this one "Heat n' Wheat"

Wildfire has a very warm, "hot" smell, but with underlying "woody" notes, which roots the "heat" (in this aspect it contrasts with Rage, which is firey hot but with no "base"). I didn't notice the florals, but that's all good and fine. A nice scent, but not one I mourn.

  2. If the autumn Sabbat scents had colors, Samhain would be orange and black, Mabon would be green and purple, and Lughnasadh would be red and gold :D

I smelled the cherry and the almond, and a smooth golden tone beneath them--dried grasses and wheat?

This is a beautiful scent, and maybe if I can prove to Beth that I can pronounce and spell it properly, it will come back this year :P

  3. I agree--VERY buttery, and somewhat popcorny. I only got to sniff the bottle, so I'm not sure if this would be different on the skin, but...yeah...it's just way too savory for me; I could never wear this as a perfume.

  4. mmm, bpal and pregnancy...close to my heart!

i'm 17 weeks pg right now and for the first 12 weeks i couldn't stand to wear bpal (or any perfume) :P everything turned my stomach (tho beth suggested embalming fluid yesterday, and it probably would have gone over pretty well). so, i just didn't wear perfume. after the first trimester i slowly started feeling scent was OK again, but wasn't moved to wear it.

yesterday i attended the ny/nj bpal gathering, and my lingering resistance to smellies faded :D i've put bpal on twice today already  :D (another blend beth said was ok for pg- as others have mentioned, she did say to stay away from pain! and i've not worn spooky, either, for mint reasons).

i'll totally try spooky in my hair, tho!!

omg!! did you mention you were pregnant?? I must have missed that! Congrats! :D :D

  5. This is one of the most beautiful foody scents EVER! :D

Initially I get hints of cotton candy and caramel apple, but the blend quickly dries down to a delicious vanilla-flavored powdered sugar :D not hyper-sweet at ALL and vaguely reminiscent of doughnuts :P I could bathe in this!! One of the few scents I love that I'd buy by the bucketful :D

  6. This is a very dry, almost ashy soil to my nose. I wasn't too keen on taking many sniffs, as it almost felt like there were dirt particles threatening to climb up my nose! :P I think it would make an interesting layering scent, but I'm no longer interested in getting a bottle.

  7. Note: I only sniffed from RHM's imp. She has only a bit left and it's precious! :P

F54 to me has a similar feel as Perversion, although F54 seems more chaotic and dirty. I mainly got tobacco, clove, and something floral, though I couldn't identify the floral from my few sniffs. I love perversion, and I love tobacco, so if this was still available or if it were possible to get ahold of this for a reasonable price, I'd be all for it, but I'm not in a frenzy to aquire some, even though it is lovely.

I think Beth mentioned that this can't be made anymore because the kind of tobacco used in it went poof.

  8. I get sweet, delicate lemon and light, savory herbs from this. It smells herbal yet soft, and the flowers (indistinguishable to my nose) didn't go soapy on me :P If this was still available I'd proly buy a bottle.

  9. I've never smelled ambergris, so I'm sure that unidentifiable note is just that. If it is, it blends nicely with the frankinsence, giving a slightly sharp and resiny-spice feel that, when blended with the herbs, I find very unique and very masculine. This is not a seductive male scent, but it is strong and agressive.

  10. Straight off, I smells a light, dewy fruit with a bite of spice and florals lurking in the background. Kinda coloda-ish.

The ginger (and pepper?) grow in intensity, as do the florals...I can't identify the florals, but they seem...soapy...

Yeap, this turns to soap on me :P

These brains are indeed spicy...however, they are also, sadly, soapy on me :D

  11. Olive...that must be it...I couldn't really identify the dominant note before :P

A very warm and comforting scent, but also mature and almost...faded? Like an old blanket, like a soft, stern voice telling you quietly to calm down...calm down...it isn't a sedative like the somnium scents are (as in, I don't feel like I'm inhaling a drug :D) but it definately does encourage the desired effect :D Like the rest of the Panaceas, Succor is both unique and theraputic.

  12. I agree that this is a very pretty ylang-ylang, understated and soft. The name refers not to what people usually think of as seduction, but a more natural sort of seduction; not enticement, but natural, healthy attraction. Not my kind of scent, but I give it a :P

  13. My first review was simply inadaquate...

I am a tabletop roleplayer, and I find myself drawn to scents that remind me of my characters.

One of my characters has a lover who is a tiger shapeshifter. He is tall and golden, with leonine features and thick red hair. He has an eager agressiveness comabined with an indolent laziness and sensuality.

The Lion is his scent--fiercely golden and warm, with wafts of spices that embody his exotic looks and nature. Although the scent is unisex, it also embodies a strong, sensual, and languid masculinity. It is the scent I can imagine a sun god wearing.

  14. Bewitching Brews

In 1897, a new form of entertainment was presented to the people of Montmartre, Paris: the Théâtre du Grand Guignol. During the course of an evening at the theatre, one would watch several small plays, ranging from crime dramas to sexual farces, a violent, throat-ripping, eye-gouging, acid-tossing good time, which always included shock topics such as infanticide, necrophilia, insanity, murder, paranoia, vengeance and death by common household object. Our Grand Guignol perfume is a shot of sweet apricot brandy; just enough to settle your nerves after a ghoulish, gory brush with the macabre.

I applied this as I sat in the bus back from NYC and spent the ride alternating between Succor and smelling this. I put the name and description out of my mind, and immersed myself in the atmosphere this created.

This is not a languid boozy scent. Oh no. This is a rowdy, jostling drink, the kind other barflies would laugh at you for sniffing; "That ain't fine wine, buddy! Take a swig and pass the juice on!" They would holler above the din of the club or theater.

This really is apricot brandy :P The booze smells the strongest at first (with a twist of what smells like apricot sn), but by late drydown it's calmed down a lot, and the apricot is left as the designated driver, so to speak.

  15. Tea leaf with three mosses, green grass, a medley of herbal notes, and a drop of ginger and fig.

A riotous mass of herbs and foliage, and a twinge of spiciness that must be the ginger. This puts me in mind of a greenhouse, and is not medicinal or sharp, as I had feared :P

  16. Wow....:P

This is tart, deep, rich, sweet black cherries...not at all the cough syrup smell I've gotten from O and others. The woods are smooth and deep and gorgeous...This is deep mahogany with a sleek, polished cherry glaze--I LOVE this!

  17. The jasmine is very heady and strong, and yet the violets and fruits temper it, so it is not unbearable and overwhelming.

This scent has a certain texture that--the scent equivalent of dark, silky hair and soft, midnight purple silk. I press my nose to my wrist and smell one thing; I pull back, and I smell another subtle facet.

I was recently in a tabletop rpg in which one of the main antagonists was a modern incarnation of Morgan le Fay (Changeing: The Dreaming; it was an Arthurian game). This would have been her perfume.

  18. Very herbal and florally and fresh--I picture a huge spring garden in the early morning, the dew sharpening the cacophany of scents assaulting the senses...There's something very sharp-smelling in here, which is sad, because it ruins the blend for me =(

I had such high hopes for Beltane :P so high that I bought 5 bottles!! 2 are already swapped though, and I'm sure I'll find a home for the others.

  19. Bayberry!! Yes...this smells like the YC Bayberry candle :D Hemlock has a gentle herbal sweetness to it; it's a LOT nicer and milder than Belladonna to my nose, and yet I can't imagine using this as a perfume. Rather, it would be a gorgeous room scent or even linen spray :P

  20. I love how the woods mellow the Dragon's Blood in this blend! :P They give the dragon's blood a smooth, almost powdery finish, calm it down, make it presentable...yes, this is Dragon's Blood in a tux--isn't he handsome?
