When your favorite GC blends are discontinued

A few other peeps have noted the Morocco/Antique Lace similarity as well, but I wouldn't necessarily run off to order a bottle--there's quite a bit of variation from Morocco bottle to Morocco bottle, and only one of my 3 5 mls smells like Antique Lace (although I did smell Anshara's bottle as well, and hers smells like Antique Lace too). I wouldn't want you to order a bottle and be dissapointed when it doesn't smell like AL (because of the red sandalwood) Regan also has a similar "feel" as Antique Lace...riddel once told me that AL smelled "white and pink" to her, while Regan smells "white and purple." I adore AL and only *like* Regan though, but you might want to give it a try

Looking for scents that smell like chai

bump, because I have a sudden hankering for a chai tea scent and I need satisfaction!

    Rain Scents

So far, every BPAL aquatic has been way too ozone/dryer sheet to my nose =/ I'm terribly curious about Kingsport, but I'm not about to bid on a bottle unsniffed. The closest scent I've ever come to water was actually Shanghai, believe it or not--like sweet, running water

    Lustration

Of all the Panaceas, this one seemed most appealing--for its name alone! But then I began reading reviews of it's honey-lemony-cough-drop-in-a-good-way-ness, and I snagged a 10 ml from the lovely tart I absolutely LOVE THIS!! It starts of like those honey-lemon cough drops you buy and pop like candy--there's a menthol-like note which is relaxing and focusing and oddly not medicinal at all. After a few minutes, the menthol dissapears, and what's left is pure lemon zest and sweet clemantine and what smells like grapefruit--it really smells like someone spilled juice on my hand!! Like the other Panaceas, Lustration isn't really something one would wear as a perfume (although I'm sure you could...), but it's perfect when you need a little extra luster!

Your Best-Bet "Must Try" Enabling Scents

In my imp giftpack would be: The Lion Warm, golden, and unisex--a bright, warm, but not girly scent Alice Soft and pretty and sweet Shanghai Refreshing Queen Mab Womanly and sophisticated without being heavy Dublin Woodsy and fresh Scheherazade Moderately heavy and spicy I was waffling on Morocco, but Alice has carnation in it too A pretty good mix, I think
  6. If you like Shanghai or Embalming Fluid, you'll like La Rose du Petit Prince, which smells like those scents with manderin and rose If you like Chaste Moon, Voluspa's Vanilla Creme Fleur is a dead-on dupe And Lolita Lempicka smells a bit like Midnight

    Midnight

I have to admit that I have NO idea what any of the notes listed smell like...this definately smells floral--almost anise-like, in fact! I'm reminded of the lovely Lolita Lempicka perfume , and like LL, Midnight is a cool, breezy, dark purple, shadowy yet not sinister perfume--truly the scent of the night!
  8. I agree with Hexennacht also Wildfire, if you can get your hands on any.

    Oak blends?

Hmm I think The Hespirides (spelling???) has an oak note it's discernable, but not prominant.

    Manila

Sweet, almost artificial banana surrounded by florals and heavy, leafy greens. This is what my saruninjas wear, but it smells a bit too generic on me for it to be a standout if only there were a coconut/banana scent!

    Discussion of all things Amber

I would love love love for BPAL to make an amber, vanilla bean, and cardamon scent Ambra del Nepal makes one, and it's bloody divine, but I'm sure Beth's would be more complex and

    Al Azif

I definately agree that this is floral incense; but thankfully, there are no *flowers* in here, so I'm all good It's like I'm literally smelling a floral incense stick as it's smoking (although the smoke note is light and airy). There's also a lovely sweetness to this... Definately the closest I've smelled to actual incense

    Bayou

Immediately I get this heated, sweaty tone as if I'm smelling someone's body odor Thankfully, this fades within half a minute and the heavy soapy greens. This might work as a room scent, but not on my skin, unfortunately =(
  14. joseybird

    Tiger Lily

A fresh, clean floral (with a little "body") with touches of honey. This seems to be staying fine on me...no soap yet......will update if it changes. For now, this is a gorgeous sweet floral

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

    I do too

    Moxie

OMFGSTRONGOMFGSTRONG :icon_eek: Bitter orange peel! Grapefruit! Clove and other spices!! This isn't just a bright and sunny scent--this is indeed energizing!! I admit that before trying Succor and Moxie I was somewhat cynical about the Panaeceas...not anymore!!

    Eos

This is one of the few BPALs I've wanted to love based on name alone. Unfortunately, I can only like, not love, honeysuckle and jasmine, both of which are extremely heavy and heavy in BPAL blends. Occasionally when I dab this on, the buttercup peeks out; pretty, delicate little buttercup! Oh, if only it peeked out more often, then I might consider a 5 ml! But sadly...no

    Grog

Dear Captain Jack, We had been wondering how you pulled it off--that sly, devil-may-care, slightly drunk demeaner, the quick wit, the clever tongue, the stamina to shrug off whatever misfortunes you ran into. Well, your secret is now OURS Grog, ey? You'd been holding out on us! The rich, burnt sugar explains the mania, the sparkle in the eye, the quick thinking. The buttery booze must account for everything else. But don't you worry, Jack. Your secret is safe with us *hic*...or maybe not... Yur beegust fan... Josey

    Discussion of all things Amber

I had the same experience. The Lion was not the rich, stronge amber I was expecting. Instead it was a more citrus-like amber which I also find in Haunted. To me, Blood Amber has a really different type of amber in it; rich, warm and like a second-skin. The blood resin means that it takes a while to try down- but the amber is to die for. I'd love to know what type of amber was in it. Maybe black? I'm intrigued by Ides- I'd like to know what grey amber smells like so I'm looking forward to the arrival of my bottle <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting...The Lion was very rich and strong on me skin chemistry is a strange thing!

    A trip to Disney!

I would totally rec Midway, but peeps won't be getting their bottles til, like, august. Hmm...anything alcoholic?

    Butch yet not manly scents?

The Lion and Oisin both fabulously sexy and unisex. Morocco as well.

    June Gloom 2004

I usually really enjoy Beth's lemon note. It's usually milk, sweet, and smooth. However, the lemon note I detect in June Gloom smells almost detergent-y I'm not sure whether it's a different lemon note or whether the florals (which waft in and out of the background are altering the lemon note, but unfortunately, it meant that I didn't enjoy June Gloom as much as I would have liked =/
  23. joseybird

    Breezy/Outdoorsy Scents

Oisin it's a light, breezy white musk with herbs and grasses.
  24. The Lion is pure golden sexiness so is nearly anything layered with vanilla
  25. Methinks you'll like Midway it isn't tooth-achingly sweet, but it has a distinctive cotton candy note in there
