Nutty scents - blends with nut notes or nuts

HUGE second on the Dana O'Shee. Also, anything with a "milk" note seems rather almondy to me, but more amaretto-y than nutty. You should ask Penance what has almond in it. She's allergic to it, like, hugely, so she knows! I seem to remember her saying that Baron Samedi was very almond, but I've never tried it, so that's solely based on a memory from chat.

Looking for a BPAL similar to a Clinique Fragrance

Honestly, if she really is a big ginger fan, like, lemony delicious fresh ginger, I really wouldn't recommend any of the bpal gingers except for Sudha Segara. I'm a fiend for fresh ginger, and I've had my heart broken again and again. here's what I found note-wise online: bergamot, boysenberry and honeysuckle. The middle notes are: bushflower, grapefruit and moss and the base of the fragrance is: freesia, lemon and Hawaiian wedding flower. I think Shanghai might be a good try. It's sweet and tea, but has a good lemon kick. I think Sudha Segara might be okay for her, but staying time really does vary widely. The two layered together might be fab. *notes to try it* If I recall correctly, New Orleans had honeysuckle and lemon in it, but I have yet to try it.

I'm thinking nothing, if you already placed the order. It's paypal OR ccnow.

    Jewel Tone Scents

Envy is SO green. I wouldn't say it's Emerald green, though, imo. But it's GREEN.

Autumn Scents - recommend the ones you love

Autumn leaves is in the lab description, too.

    Jewel Tone Scents

I think Sudha Segara would be very nice for a nice topaz. It's a nice clean light brown to me.

    Grape!

I know that there aren't that many grape bpals...in fact, Urd is the only one that I can bring to mind where the components were actually listed. Have you tried some of the plum blends yet? They're certainly less fresh-fruit-ish (in my opinion), but might be awesome for the winter ahead. I'm thinking Bordello (which to my nose wasn't alcoholic at all), Megaera (although the orris and amber certainly take a leading role, however it was recently reformulated, and I haven't sniffed that), Batheba (less fruity, but there). Yerevan might be a good bet for sweet and fruity.
  11. I think the (arabian?) musk in Bathsheba is quite nice. I really can't do musk, personally, but it was very warm and non-offensive. I'm betting Baghdad has a similar musk in it?

    I need more Cherry!

I didn't get any cherry from CT. Very much Cocoa/coffee.

    Pronouncing "BPAL" and scent names!

I'm thinking the "tza" is just like "czar".

    Eternal

Ok, so. I really like Eternal. Here's the thing: I appear to be getting a way different reaction from other folks, so here's your can of Morton's. Eternal=bread pudding. With lots of vanilla and raisins and just a pinch of nutmeg. All gooey and bubbly and yum. I guess what it comes down to is that my skin majorly, majorly amps heliotrope. I'm a big botanophile, so I'm familiar with the flower. They're unassuming plants, low to the ground, with gorgeous dark purple flowers. And they smell of baked goods. Vanilla, but vanilla with spices. Near drydown and toward the end of the scent, the gardenia picks up a little, but gardenias in themselves aren't that floral. So, for me, this 'floral' scent is in fact, gourmand. Still yummy, though! Just think...a nice big helping of bread pudding with a gardenia for garnish.
  15. I really like Shanghai, and I didn't think it was /that/ floral, just a little sweet from the Honeysuckle. This may be totally cracked out, but I found Sudha Segara to be slightly tea-ish; I may be getting that from the ginger or something. White Rabbit has tea, and I'm dying to try it. The reviews sound like the tea does come out.
  16. Actually, you might want to try Bathsheba. It's a gorgeous scent. Once it dries, it becomes this lush, warm, clove scent. The green carnation scent is pretty fleeting.

    Bathsheba

In the imp: It has that green scent that all of Beth's light scents seem to have, but with a clove underlay, sortof like those spiced honeysticks on my skin it's pretty much absorbed. Nice, but like a sweet warm green, like that florist's scent, but sweeter and less strong. I think the musk is beginning to come out to come out a bit, very warm. As time passes, it gets warmer and spicier/clove-ier. It's really, really nice, but I can't do musk. I gambled and lost on this.

    Persephone

The pomegranate in Persephone is definatley the most prominent note. When I first put it on, it was still too sweet/girly for me, but the sharpness of the rose was definately there. I like it less as it ages. The rose utterly disappears, and the pomegranate begins to strengthen and lose it's sweetness. I'll definately be passing it on.

    Lex Talionis

HEY herbs! How ya doin'? After a few moments what I assume is the vetiver falls off, and a more woody scent comes out. Frankly, I smell peanuts, but not in a sweet way at all. Peanuts in shell. I'm not completely certain (because Iambe is on the left hand), but I get a very faint floral overlay (the violet mixed with the grapefruit and cedar). The floral is a nice one, seems victorian. This definately morphs. The pepper is really coming out now, nice and sharp. I love the combination of the floral with the pepper, but the peanut vibe that I'm getting from the sage/patchouli is really not doing it for me. Very close, though. The pepper/violet is absolutely amazing. -- later: the notes I'm not liking are really drifting away, and the pepper is really popping out. I think this would be awesome layered with a more straight forward floral, or perhaps a citrus blend. (I'll try it with baobhan sith when I get back to school)

    Iambe

Sweet pear/apple-y (is that the gardenia?) over note, warm, vaguely herbal base. Does not seem to blend well for me. The topnotes and the basenotes remain very, very separate. It's very interesting; patchouli usually pops out on me, as do white tea notes. On this scent, however, the floral notes are the most prominent, and seem quite fruity to me. The patchouli seems more like a bitter/musky patchouli, rather than a sweet one, and definately takes over the amber as the prominent base note.

    Carnation

This carnation scent is completely amazing. When I first opened the imp, it smelled *exactly* the way it does when you open the coolers at a florist's, which happens to be one of my all time favorite scents. This scent continued during the wet stage, with clove becoming more and more prominent as the scent dried. It ended intensely clove-y, but I do like the clove scent. And the wet stage of the scent is sublime.

Maybe go for the Kindly Ones and wreak a little vengeance?

    CCNow Questions & Problems

Just don't worry about it. You will eventually get your order, and if something goes wrong, the lab will ben over backwards to fix it. Chill out, and drool with anticipation.

    Vixen

huh. I could have sworn I reviewed this long ago. Anyways, I'm a ginger fiend and I was quite disappointed by this scent. I got absolutely zero ginger. It was very, very sweet. In retrospect, I think the patchouli went "OH! I love you!" It's very odd, because I love so many of the components, but the overall impression was very blech.

    PURPLE!

I actually felt that Megaera was quite purple. The plum really jumps out at me.
