    Habu

Oooh, this is very sweet and musky! Green, juicy bamboo is in the forefront, anchored by the black musk. The bamboo is very wet and very sweet, and I really like it.

    Green Tree Viper

Hmmm. This was a chilly mint in the bottle and when first applied, but my skin doesn't really like mint. Now it's a green tea blend that smells a bit off. The Snake Oil in the mix doesn't really come out much other than to throw everything off. This one really isn't for me.

    Faiza, the Black Mamba (2006)

Wow, I don't really know what I'm smelling, but I like it! This is green and somewhat floral, but spicy and woody. Of course, the oakmoss is a major component because my skin chemistry loves it like whoa. I don't get (m)any of the fruits that are listed as notes, but perhaps after this has worn a while longer on my skin or aged in the bottle. I do really like this. It's very sexy and slinky.

    Death Adder

Vetiver is my mortal enemy. Death Adder is the blend that made me like vetiver. This is vetiver (because my skin amps it) swirled with vanilla and wrapped in a thick coat of Snake Oil. Dusty and dirty and downright sexy. I would love to smell this on a guy. I think I may put a bunch on my hand when my DH isn't looking and then smear him with it.

    Cottonmouth

The springtime flowers have all overpowered the Snake Oil. I'm getting none of it. It is, however, a lovely springtime bouquet with a touch of... cotton? This is very light and white and pure. It definitely is making me long for springtime weather here in crappy Detroit.

    Coral Snake (2006)

It's spicy apples in the throw, but up close you can really pick out the orange and the zestiness of the lemon peel. I'm not getting much Snake Oil, other than the fact that the throw is spicy, but this is really nice!

    Boomslang

Out of the bottle, this was a thick brown oil with little bits of darker brown that I had only to assume was the cocoa. This is definitely Snake Oil, and whoa there is a lot of cocoa in this. But they blend so well together that it's really delicious. The teakwood is more subtle... I can really only tell it's there if I put my wrist to my nose and take a good long drag. I find that I am slathering a lot more with these Snake Oil blends, so they do have a good, long-lasting throw. I really love all these variations.

    Banded Sea Snake (2006)

With the other two snakes that I've tried (Asp Viper and Australian Copperhead), this was the only one where the Snake Oil aspect never came out. For the most part, I'm going to attribute that to my skin chemistry always amping oakmoss to the nth degree. I do love oakmoss, though, and I think the sea moss and olive leaf made it wetter and greener than it usually is on me, so it wasn't a total disaster.

    Australian Copperhead (2006)

This is a lightly berried snake oil. The cardamom and smoked vanilla give it a darker touch, delicately spiced and smoky, and the amber adds its powdery mystique like it always does on my skin. This is a really warm scent on me, a very nice way to dress up Snake Oil.

    Asp Viper (2006)

Yes. Snake Oil. Almond. This is soft and warm and delicious. I washed with Lush's almond buttercream this morning, so I am just a sexy almond cookie this morning.

    Svadhinaopatika

Amber = powder. Damn. This also smells oddly floral, though looking at the list of notes, I'm not quite sure why. I was hoping for more honey and sandalwood, so I guess I'll let this one age for a while and give it another try later. It also doesn't help that the lotion I'm wearing is confusing my nose a little bit.

    The Oblation

Whooo, that is a strong, sharp green scent right out of the bottle. It reminded me of walking into the greenery section at our local Frank's Nursery & Crafts as a child. Nothing but wet, green plants. Now that it's dry, it's still pretty sharp thanks to the lavender, but the blackberry tempers it nicely and it's a sweet, candied floral.

    The Agony of Loss

I am always impressed with just how the Lab Goblins are able to read my mind. This was the description I related to the most and the list of notes that I really, really loved. And it does not disappoint. It is sweetly sharp and romatically dusty musty. The lavender is there in the forefront, but it's somewhat fruity in addition to its signature sharpness. The sandalwood grounds it on me with pale, dry perfection and the cedar is another gorgeous woody note. I don't know what armoise is..... a quick Google search later and I see it is wormwood / absinthe!!! LOVE IT! And I'd even swear I could smell ancient papers burning. It is dead on. Wistful and melancholy, icy but warming and soothing at the same time. Hooray! I love it and it's perfect and for once, I don't feel like I "lost" out.

    Chintamani-Dhupa

This is very exotic spice on me. The base is a gorgeously dry sandalwood, and it anchors every bit of the dry, dusty spices perfectly. It's warm and sensual and I fully intend to try to make all the world submissive to me.

    Skuld

The way this one smells on me, I would have sworn that cognac or wine grapes were one of the notes in the blend. It is very sweet and almost grape-y, with warmth from the honey. Looking at the listed notes, I guess that's the ylang ylang then? I'm not sure. It's not particularly musky and I've never been able to identify labdanum in a blend. I really like this, though.

    Queen of Sheba

At first, this was warm and nutty almonds. But something really bizarre has happened with my skin chemistry because this turned into that ubiquitous slimy pink soap from any public restroom.

    Pink Moon 2005

I tried this blend when it originally came out and, for whatever reason, decided I didn't like it enough to keep it and sold it. I decided I wanted all the blends that have honey in them, so I found a bottle and bought it back. This is very sweet, like sugared flowers. I can definitely smell the pink sugar and the strawberries now, which I don't remember getting before. I'm not sure which of the flowers I am smelling, but it's soft, not sharp, and very pretty. I'm so glad I gave this another chance. I really look forward to wearing this in the spring.

    Jezebel

I bought this for the honey, and it's not disappointing me. In fact, this is one of the honey-est blends with a honey note in it that I've found in the GC. The roses and orange blossom add sweet florals to the honey. I don't really detect the sandalwood, but perhaps it will come out a bit as this continues to dry throughout the day.

Itasô Kansei Nenkan Jorô No Fûzoku

This smells like a perfume that I've used before, but I can't remember what it is. It's very classic smelling, a "floriental" blend. It's lightly floral and slightly spicy and, above all, perfumic. I don't really know what I'm smelling because I'm not familiar with any of the notes listed here on an individual basis. If I had to wager a guess, I'd say it's either the osmanthus or the hibiscus. This is really gorgeous, I am in love.

Rose. Rose rose rose. Up close to the skin: rose. The throw: rose. Don't get me wrong, I like rose, especially BPAL's rose. But I bought this one for the honey. I'm not getting one other note than the rose. My skin, it loves the rose. Hopefully by the end of the day I will be able to smell a little bit of the other notes.

    Eden

Up close to the skin where the oil was applied, this is dusty toasted coconut and dry sandalwood. It anchors the scent and is still in the throw, which is admittedly fruitier from the fig. This is nutty and green and sweet and dry. I really, really love this blend.

    Delphi

The smoke of Sacred Incense of Apollo twined through laurel branches, bay, and honey wine. Honey and bay. Not much incense out of this blend, and it's very sweet. I guess the incense bit could be how the honey sweetness kind of drifts and wafts around me like a cloud, as if it has no weight at all.

    Cupid Complaining to Venus

Wet, this was an explosion of apples. As it dried, it maintained that bright fruitiness, but became... fuzzier? I don't know if that makes sense, but it evokes the soft fuzziness of a fresh peach. And an angora sweater. This blend is very like Les Bijoux in that respect. Softly fruity, very feminine, lightly floral.

    Bengal

This is soft and spicy. I bought it for the honey note, and though I don't get much of that, I know it's in there kind of holding everything together. This is mostly cinnamon with a hint of clove and ginger, warm and comforting and exotic.

    Athens

This is straight up honey and wine, in the bottle and on the skin. As it dries, the myrrh adds a touch of dusty / smoky to the blend. This is really gorgeous.
