    Al-Shairan

Warm and sweetly spicy, the peach and orange are an excellent compliment to the cinnamon, clove and patchouli. As it dries down and works in with my chemistry, the fruits almost disappear entirely, leaving an earthy spicy incense air around me. Very lovely.

    Alone

This is a spicy, fruity smell. At first, the mandarin was very predominant, but the patchouli and cardamom and sandalwood are coming into the forefront and it smells, like others have mentioned, almost... figgish? It's a rich, earthy blend, and very beautiful.

    Al-Araaf

This is a sweet, delicate floral. I would say that the lilies are the strongest on my skin, but not overwhelmingly so as in some other blends. It's a clean, innocent, and delicate blend. As the first one in the series that I'm trying, I've been very pleasantly surprised.

    Beatrice

This ia pretty, soft, powdery floral. But it faded so fast that I can't really recall what I was going to say about it.

    Mabon 2004

This smells like apples and wine in the bottle, and at first, but something weird happens and I end up smelling like craft store and candles. Not something I think I will wear very often, sadly.

    Fruit Moon

While this is gorgeous in the bottle and at first application on my skin, smelling mostly of melons and citrus, it eventually falls prey to the other berry-based BPALs and turns into "waxy fruit-scented candle" on me.

    Lucky #20

Wow, this is STRONG! I'm pretty sure it's lotus on me, but not a pure lotus. I can't tell what else is in here, but it's kind of soapy but with a little touch of dryness / mustiness. I'm still waiting to find out the results of the application. But I'm hopeful. And nothing bad has happened to me yet.

    Torture King

I don't know why I bothered. Whenever vetiver is in a blend, it beats the other notes into submission and that is all I ever smell. You might say vetiver IS my personal Torture King.

    Shill

In the bottle, it is the perfect liquid replica of salty buttered popcorn. On my skin, it is buttery body odor. Up for sale.

    Recommmendations for Green Scents

Envy was the greenest green that ever greened when I tried it.

    Midway

Very foody. Salty sweet crunchy chewy sugary sticky gooey food goodness. I'd say I'm getting mostly "funnel cake" from the blend, and the underlying sweet is either caramel apple or cotton candy. There's also a dusty or mustiness to it, which must be the actual midway complete with earth floor. Fascinating and incredible. I don't know how Beth does it, but this is amazing.

    Medicine Show

This is a sharp, but sweet blend. My skin is amping up the ginger and rosewood, which gives it the sharpness that initially hits my nose, but the elemi and balsam are strong in the background making it almost floral / herbal. I don't get much from the tobacco or opium, but it's very nice overall. Very interesting.

    House of Mirrors

Light and crystal clear, if that can be a smell. It was more citrus than aquatic, but light and refreshing nonetheless. I didn't get the amber I was hoping for, but it was non-offensive and quite pretty. A good blend for a day of sweltering heat.

    The High Priestess

In the bottle, it's very cherry-almond with a medicinal tinge of eucalyptus or a mint. On, it's very similar, but the cherry-almond tones down and the eucalyptus deepens, letting out a woodsy note of some sort... perhaps cedar? A very interesting blend, and since it is my Tarot card, I was so upset when I spilled half the bottle out by knocking it over when I applied it.

    Gypsy Queen

This smells gloriously of a musty head shop. I relished every minute of it on my skin, but it disappeared within an hour. So disappointing.

    Geek

Whoa, this is the first of the CN blends that I'm not really that fond of. At least as a perfume. It's overwhelmingly pine on my skin, but I can detect a little bit of the leather, cedar and mosses. Definitely a masculine blend, but I don't think my husband enjoys my kamikaze dabbing of BPAL on him as of late so I think I'll probably end up swapping this one.

    Freak Show

This is fruity foody sex. Maybe it's just me, but fig and pomegranate on their own possess serious sexual power, but in this blend with both of them it's hard for me to even think straight. I smell mostly the fig and the pomegranate, sticky sweet syrup. Underneath is a little bit of bitter cocoa giving it some spice and some staying power. I can't identify the other notes individually, but I'm sure they're in there somewhere. If only I could focus a little bit. Needless to say I love this blend. So far, Beth is 4 for 4 (Bearded Lady, Bed of Nails, Fire Eater, Freak Show) with me.

    Fire Eater

This scent is very confusing. I'm not an expert by any means at detecting florals. I know only a few, and I'm not really getting any of what I'm familiar with in this blend. It is warm and spicy, but not carnation to my nose. It's soft and floral, but not delicate. Very hard to explain. But I do like it very much.

    The Empress

Rosey rosey roses. This is one of the purest roses I have smelled in Beth's blends. Big fat lush velvety red blooms. When you breathe it in, you can see the texture of the petals, the lines in the leaves. It is potent and strong, and yet the scent stays close to the skin. I love it. Simply incredible.

    Bed of Nails

I'm getting a masculine vibe off of this blend, but it's not so unbearable that I'm not enjoying wearing it. It's very warm woods, kind of dusty. I swear you can almost close your eyes and see the rough hewn slab in front of you. The nails are there too, but not much more than a sharp metallic tinge in the background, a little bit of ozone on top of all that rich woody goodness. I am very impressed. I did not expect to like this blend, but I am finding that I like it quite a bit!

    Bearded Lady

I've been anti-floral for a while, but this one is different than any floral I've worn before. It must be the combination. Jasmine usually overpowers every other note in a blend, but the rose is heavy in this one, as is the lily, so it's tamed quite well. I can smell it a little in the background, but for the most part this blend is so well done that no one particular note stands out above the others. It's just a really pretty floral. Not a rose, or a lily, or a violet, or a jasmine. Just flowers. It stays very close to the skin, which is unlike most floral blends on me that have serious throw. I can smell a little bit here and there, but for the most part this is really unobtrusive and if I want some more of it I just lift my wrist to my nose and there she is. Very nice.

    Numb

Johnson's Baby Powder. With a soft hint of a powdery flower... I agree that it could be violet. Definitely not what I was expecting.

    Love in the Asylum

This is beautiful! Aside from Rose Red, I've had problems with other rose blends going funky and powdery on me, but this... this is the rose I wanted! It's rich and rosy, but spicy from the carnation. Other than those two notes, I don't have the expertise to identify the other notes, but there is a soft creamy spice laying underneath those two dominant notes. It could be the ambergris, it could be the tonka, it could be the tobacco leaf. All I know is that I love this blend!!!

    Carnivàle

This is a head scratcher. On their own, I love berries, I love carnation, and I love amber. Heliotrope and musk, well, I don't mind them. The blend is fruity, but the other notes kind of turn it... funky. Like fruit that's turned. Or fruit-scented beauty products. I'm going to hold onto this to test again at a different time of the month and also to let it age slightly. Just to see if I get a better vibe off of it later. Because I really want to love this. It's just not working right now.

    Buck Moon

This is a skin scent. That is really all I can say about the notes that I'm smelling. I don't get any herbs or musk, just skin. And it is beautiful. While Hexennacht's warm skin smell is pure sex, Buck Moon's warm skin smell is motherly and tender. It's the scent of warm skin that you curl up to when you are feeling scared and unsure. It's the warm skin that you snuggle up to when you need to be loved and comforted. This is absolutely wonderful and amazing, and I'm so glad I ignored my initial hesitation because of the name. This is probably my favorite lunar blend to date.
